The Gateway Hotel

When we arrived the receptionist was very helpful, we asked to change the room we had booked and she upgraded us to an executive room. We asked if she could book us a taxi to go to our venue that evening, which she did. The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom had a separate shower and bath. We had a great nights sleep on comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent, my only complaint would be the table we were seated as didn’t seem very clean, it was tacky and items stuck to it. Overall we had a great experience.

Cleanliness of the table at breakfast could be better, that is our only complaint.

Upgraded to the Junior Suite on arrival, and it didn't disappoint. Spacious, comfortable, and everything you'd expect from a Crowne experience with a bed you don't want to leave. I even sang the lyrics from Raglan Road on the bedside picture, which impressed the Mrs, ... until she read them upon leaving 😅 Fabulous vista's from the 12th Floor overlooking Dundalk Bay and the Cooley Peninsula. The 13th Floor Restaurant has great views, too! Delicious breakfast but didn't try the Tapas... definitely next time.

Limited shelving in the wardrobe space. Especially for those under 6 ft 5

Very nice inside the restaurant/bar and the room and breakfast area where really fabulous. Food was really nice in the bar and breakfast area on top floor was fab, so much of a choice on the menu. Service was great from the Staff.

Reception area seems tired, seating could be updated or new covers. Outside the hotels needs a bit of paint all sides. It was off putting driving in, but we where ok once inside. One small hick up - Some bar tenders where not all able to mark a basic cocktail.

Extremely comfortable bed and spacious room with power sockets close to bed, ensuite bath and seperate walk-in shower. Modern TV, to which I was able to connect my Fire TV stick without any problems. Wifi is free, with a good strong signal. Very good breakfast, and free car parking.

Some of the TV channels have a tendency to freeze, even the Irish (RTE) ones. There is really nothing else I didn't like!

I believe staff need to be trained to a higher standard. On check in we had to explain that dinner was included in our booking which was agreed after discussion. In restaurant we were given the wrong menu and after making our choice we asked if this menu applied to our booking to discover not and received another one which was similar but for our choice we would have to pay a supplement . We paid the extra and had a very enjoyable meal.

Staff were all lovely, very welcoming & helpful. The hotel location was perfect for our competition at DKIT sport. The double room was spacious & had everything. Welcoming message on the tv is always a nice touch.

We had to leave early on Saturday so we missed our included breakfast which starts at 8am. They did offer us a sandwich/breakfast pack to take away. Our room was by the elevator & a few guests were loud coming back to their rooms between 12-3am waking us up.

The room is clean, staff were nice and the location of the hotel is central to other parts of town.

I didn't like the fact that a 200 euro 1 night didn't come with at least a bowl of cereal as complimentary breakfast. I've stayed in cheaper hotels and they offered breakfast of cereal as part of your stay. At 200 euros per night, room only, I don't think that's good value for money.

The property is exceptional and we stayed in the Royal Suite which was impressive. really comfortable and all round enjoyable. The main point about this hotel is their staff. Literally every staff member from reception, housekeeping and the restaurant were incredible. We’ve stayed in rooms that cost €500+ per night in other hotels and have been left disappointed. The dinner and breakfast was excellent. Beers & cocktails are unreal. Thanks to everyone that made my picky daughter’s stay a dream come true. Can’t wait to stay again

I think there was an issue with the air conditioning downstairs, it was freezing at the bar & restaurant but the staff more than made up for it

Easy to drive to. Right by the Dundalk Parkrun on Saturday morning. Shower nice and hot. Great breakfast with amazing view.

No pool (odd for a hotel of this size and type). Bit of a mess up with the service in the bar meant they tried to charge for the same drinks twice, but that was quickly sorted out.
