Jambuluwuk Malioboro Hotel Yogyakarta

The breakfast had plenty of options and started really early. also the restaurant offers options such as international but also Indonesian ones at a good price. the bed was huge, biggest I have seen in my life.

The hotel itself was lacking some maintenance work as it looks quite old. Also the cleanliness could be improved. The reality of the room is quite different than what is shown in the pictures.

We got a free upgrade into a bigger room. Plenty of room, however, we prefer 2 rooms with connecting door since we are travelling with 2 kids. It went well since our kids are 10 & 12, however not really practical. Kids love the swimming pool. Breakfast was nice, lots of choices from traditional Indonesian, western and snacks. They also serve "jamu" (traditional Indonesian herbal drinks) - love it! Location is very convenient. You can take "becak"- pedicab from the hotel to most of the highlights (the Beringharjo market, Malioboro street, Keraton, Alun-alun).

They played Indonesian national anthem "Indonesia Raya" during breakfast on random time. I do really love the idea, for me as an Indonesian who have been living abroad for more than 25 years, it was a very nice surprise! However, it would be nice to be informed upfront and play the song on a certain time so people could prepare. It was super awkward situation since no one (foreign tourist) know what was going on and wondering what happened. Hotel staff abruptly stopped their activity, stand still and hold their salute until the last note of national anthem. So instead of took time for this special moment, I was busy explaining. It happened twice during our 3 nights stay.

The room is spacious, comfortable with the extra large bed. The buffet breakfast is good with lots of variety to choose

We were surprised that there is no proper wardrobe to hang our clothes. It was just a pole hanged and it was very high and inconvenient for guest to hang their clothes. I have to climb up the wooden bench to grab the hanger. We informed the hotel staff at the reception about the issue and they just take note and nothing had been done during our stay until we checked-out. Attached photos taken in the room.

I rate this hotel a 9 based on price/performance. The price was very reasonable and the performance very good, but not top-notch. We very much liked the rooms. They are large and light, and the bed is very comfortable. Location is close to the center of Yogya, but not very easy to walk as, like everywhere in Indonesia, streets are not for walking... In all, we were happy.

The hotel IMHO is not five-star. For five stars it is too old with dated, albeit pleasant, rooms. The pool needs renovation and the entire ambience is not quite up to snuff for 5 stars.

Food in the restaurant is excellent. Delicious and well presented. I love the idea of creating a vegetarian version of Bubur Ayam with "Bubur Lodeh", which gives an option for my vegetarian husband. The Gado-gado presentation with tofu in a skewer and all the steamed veggies being rolled like a spring roll is out of the box, not to mention the yummy peanut sauce. The bed is firm yet very comfy. We love the patio on the 2nd floor, it's a nice stop after a day touring in the city.

The rusty-like door paint could have a better finishing and maintenance. The shower is a little bit too high for an Indonesian guest like me.

It's excellent value for money. Don't expect 5 stars - it might used to be 5, but not anymore, it's dated, and could use a lift-up - but still, it's a comfortable, large room and in 10-15 minute walk to Malioboro. The restaurant serves decent food, and prices are on the upper side but not crazy. Nice swimming pool and gym. Efficient reception 24/7. Stayed 4 nights and was very satisfied. Lots of Europeans come here.

The safe being detached from anything is one example. But honestly - it's worth what it costs.

the room was clean and spacious. the maid chamber changed the towels regularly and cleans the room well.

breakfast could have better arrays of selection. especially the egg section. waiting time for egg corner was very long and the egg corner could have more selections of different eggs with more ingredients. The spa section doesn't really have anything on the menu...except for balinese massage and foot reflexology (according to masseuse, due to covid, stocks were on hold). Please review the spa menu, too. thnaks.

The staff give us upgraded room for free that wasn't on the app, and that really made my day! I like the room, very suitable for family and there are snacks also drinks. The breakfast is so-so for me, but i like the food for room service instead!

The room kind of little bit moldy in the corner and its easy to spot (but that doesn't really matter to me). The swimming pool for kids is on renovation, so its kind of awkward for me to swim (for adult; 1-1.5 m) while being seen by the construction workers.

Location is superb. The interior design is nice.

The rooms was clean & comfy. The staffs are friendly. Only need improvement in maintenance staffs. The aircond was not working well on my arrival and the water in bathroom only hot water out. The eng staffs look like not so competence to repair the trouble.

The hotel is in a good location, very close to Malioboro street - not too central, so you are not in the middle of the "mess". Breakfast is amazing! A lot of choices among Eastern, Western cuisine and tasty!

The rooms are just a little "old" - they are not dirty! They just need some small re-decoration and paint. Unfortunately while we were there, they were doing some works in the hall, but we did not hear any noises.
