Vienna House by Wyndham Ernst Leitz Wetzlar

Beautiful hotel with very good food. If you are going to Leica headquarters or planning to explore Leica Welt this is a good place to stay. The evening reception staff were excellent. The Leitz Cafe staff were wonderful.

The biggest problem is that the AC didn't work. Even set on the highest fan level there was no airflow. The hotel was advertised as having AC. We were only able to partially open the window because it was blocked by the sofa cushions. The checkout staff seemed entirely uninterested in our AC challenges. If it wasn't so late, we would have asked for help that evening. The staff at Oskar's restaurant were not interested in helping us in the evening at about 9:10 and tried to dissuade us from eating there, giving us every excuse as to why we couldn't order any food, such as, there's a huge group of 16 who just came in. We only wanted something light, so ordered, then went to sit in the bar. Getting and paying our bill was a challenge.

Very stylish, spacious and modern, clean. Perfectly located within the Leitz Park if you plan your visit there. Wonderful photographs everywhere! Breakfast buffet was excellent. Evening dinner expensive but very good quality and imaginative, table reservation essential though.

Even though our room was very stylish and had fabulous views, this was maybe a case of style above comfort or practicality. There was supposed to have been a coffee machine in our room but all we had was a kettle and two tea bags and two sachets of cheap coffee for two people staying! I get better provisions in any boring English B&B! The restaurant is closed on a Sunday and there are no other food sources anywhere in the Leitz Park. We arrived by taxi early on a Sunday evening and wished we had had a dinner in Wetzlar town beforehand. We were tired so just called it a day until breakfast the following morning. A discreet vending machine supplying snacks somewhere / anywhere within this vast space would have been very welcome!

This place is very convenient when visiting the Leitz-Park; it fits stylistically. The breakfast is very good and I found the restaurant in the evening to be very flexible, friendly and to be of excellent quality.

The “bathroom” was integrated into the main room, which seemed a bit odd. The mirror was integrated into a cupboard and so forth. The foreign cleaning staff was a bit pushy (repeatedly) to get into the room despite clear indications from inside to the contrary and a “do not disturb” card was missing; they did not refill condiments (although they clearly should, since the second night costs the same as the first). Finally, the hotel may want to reconsider its policy regarding parking fees, since space exists in abundance, and people are going out of their way to stay there, out of walking distance from the lovely Wetzlar old town.

Leitz Park is amazing oasis of modern architecture. The hotel fits well in and yet feels comfortable and cozy. Closeby is an amazing snackbar for Currywurst and a very decent Italian restaurant. It's all very quiet and there's ample of parking. The staff is naturally friendly. Due to shortage of rooms, I got upgraded - sincerely thank you very much for that (but I find the 10 square meters empty space at the entrance of room 140 quite odd).

The WiFi is bad, because it keeps disconnecting, and the connection process isn't very smooth. At some point, I just gave up and switched to my personal hotspot. I'd be happy if one of the many pillows on the bed might be a bit larger - I found comfort after combining three of them. Breakfast looks very good, but some components don't live up to the expectations and don't match the aspirational status of Leica: the scrambled egg was not made from fresh eggs and the bakery section tastes rather industrial as well.

The restaurant Bull & Bonito offers fresh dishes - the menu is just perfect - and try their white wines! Breakfast: everyone can find the preferred breakfast. I loved my room - 25qm perfectly organized. The hotel is located in Wetzlar - not the best looking place near Frankfurt, but the Leica site, the beautiful hotel and the kind, super service-oriented personnel make up for everything else. Visit the Leica Museum - it's interesting.

Well - Wetzlar is what it is - the surroundings around the hotel do not look too good; the Leica site itself is a very modern, but also a sort of "concrete orgy" - more green, more trees and some flowers would make all this a little bit less cold

The room was very nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. We were greeted by the very friendly staff at the reception, in particular Grace, who kindly accommodated our request for a quiet room.

Our stay at the hotel would have been perfect except for the AC which did not cool the room and could not be adjusted. The lobby of the hotel was however optimally cooled.

Proximity to Leica installations, cleanliness, installations

We arrived in the evening (9pm) after a long trip, and were given the keys to a room that has just been occupied by other guests, which was unpleasant for both us and the guests in the room. Because of above confusion, we arrived at the restaurant 10min before closing, so they refused to serve us No late night room service.

i noticed when i pick up the towel after have shower that their was leakage under the sink . the was was soaked and had also stains from the leaking . Viewed it and seen the leakage. So we had a small towel for the both of us. considering the price of the room this was quite dis-satisfying. Hotel did not offer any good will gesture accept , “thanks for we will inform maintenance”

Excellent staff and service... a very relaxing and accommodating environment. The staff helped me with everything I needed including looking after my COVID test appointment for the next leg of my trip. One morning I saw a note from the night staff who had courteously taken the time to work out my train ride and schedule for the next leg of my travels. Excellent all around.. One note about the restaurants, the Pappardelle pasta was cooked to perfection... the Chef must have been Italian!

Unfortunately during the post midnight hours, the AC would bring in occasional waves of a foul smell every hour or so but it would disappear soon. I'm sure it was not neglect...

Very interesting design of building and rooms. I had the Zagato Suite which was lovely. Clearly most people who stay here are probably photography and Leica enthusiasts and the hotel is a stones throw from all of the places of interest in the Leitz Park. The breakfast buffet was sensational and the restaurant, open only in the evenings, was also good. Wetzlar old town is a €10 taxi ride away which I’d recommend rather than driving in and trying to park.
