Hôtel d'Angleterre

The room was nice, the bathroom was clean and the shower had great water pressure and temperature. The best thing about this hotel by far is the staff- the receptionist I dealt with was very well tempered, polite and helpful, answering any questions I had. She allowed me to leave my bag behind the desk at reception after checkout whilst I explored Versailles. The person I was travelling with went home unexpectedly which left me in a tricky position and she let me sit in the hotel dining area until I was able to meet up with another friend who was flying in, which was very kind. The staff definitely were the kind of people to go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.

The room was a little small, but that's to be expected with the price.

Its location, being a short walk to the Palace of Versailles and surrounded by a good choice of eateries and convenience shops. It is also great value for money. Lastly, we like the nice touch of free lemon-scented water and mini croissant at the reception area. The former was really welcomed on this hot day in Versailles.9

The lack of a lift. While there is someone to help you with your luggage, PRMs may find it challenging going up the stairs. There is also no air condition, which is a challenge on a hot day.

The whole place was spotless, the staff were welcoming and the facilities good. The small garden at the back was great. The location for the Palace of Versailles is perfect, also the next street is packed with restaurants and bars

There was no parking, but we knew that when we booked. We tried to find on-street parking without success, but the hotel staff were very helpful suggesting where we could park. We parked overnight on the Palace car park which is massive and only a five minute walk away

It was ver very close to Versailles.

The beds were very hard and not comfortable. There was an odd step in front of the door about 3 inches high which I tripped over a couple of times. Very odd. Staff was awesome and very friendly and the breakfast was very very good. The star of this hotel is its location. You can’t beat that if you’re going to Versailles. We made #6 in the line and were able to take pictures inside even without people at the shots except us. Will use it again if we ever comes back.

Location, staff, comfort, reasonable price were al big pluses. Despite being one third the price, this hotel we found far better than the Trianon Palace, which was noisy, lacklustre, inefficient and to far. Gordon Ramsay is also an extremely overrated, overexposed chef.

The only thing was not having an en suite toilet, which was fine, we had a sink and shower in our room.

Staff was very friendly, assisted with queries in english which was great. Small garden that accommodates smokers, option to have meals at the hotel if you dont feel like going out. Hotel was clean, rooms not too small, bed was very comfortable and bigger than normal size.

Location was excellent, short stroll to the Palace

Nothing really, typical quirky french hotel, a little tired in places but that adds to the charm and far more ambiance than the 'new' style budget chain hotels. I'd stay here any time.

Right next door to the palace basically. The staff were super helpful, as I was having trouble finding someone to understand English and sort out my rental cars details. The girl on reception did it all,with a smile

No door on the toilet only a curtain.

Excellent location, a short walk from restaurants in old Versailles and the palace. There is no parking at the hotel but we found free overnight parking in a nearby street. Our room was clean, fairly comfortable with a decent shower. It was quite cramped, but, as it was a one-night stay, this didn't matter. We would use the hotel again.

very well located hotel, nice, home-like feeling. Very helpful staff that speaks good English (my French is rather limited) and eager to answer questions about the city and Palace. We had the 'family room' and were happy with the location and selection.

There is no elevator but very helpful staff offered to carry our suitcases up to the second floor.
