We spent our second night in Verdun at Les Jardins du Mess after having endured one night in a fusty-smelling property. Checking in at clean and beautiful Jardins du Mess was therefore pure heaven and felt very luxurious. Our room was huge, tastefully decorated, clean and very quiet, and our enormous bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast buffet was nice and varied and the service impeccable. The location of the hotel was also great and almost right next door to the tourist information office, where we rented bikes for our exploration of the various WWI sites.

No complaints.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive and ensured that guests were very well attended to. The location in the centre of the town was good with excellent views across the picturesque canal and nearby buildings.

Unfortunately the on site restaurant was closed for refurbishment, and I look forward to returning again when this is open. However, there were a number of good restaurants to choose from within walking distance , including the Sherlock restaurant one of the few that remains open, even on a Monday night (ideal for a business traveller).

The location and the private parking facilities. There was also a place to charge your EV, although you could only do this using your three pin plug charger using an adaptor. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, especially Esteban who responded very quickly to any e mails I sent.

Not the property’s fault, but there is a barge moored on the river outside that played very loud music on the weekends until after 3am. We had a balcony room on the front, this could be a real problem in the summer if you had your balcony doors open. This would not stop us returning and we intend to do so.

Nice sized room with air-con (it was very hot weather). Tea and coffee in the room. Large comfortable bed. Good shower and en-suite. Very friendly staff. Efficient lift to the rooms. Lovely area outside at the back to sit and order drinks. Private car park. Well placed for the town and in easy walking distance of lots of bars and restaurants.

Restaurant was closed. Breakfast was expensive at 20 euro each (didn't take them up on that, plenty of alternatives in the town) Car park charged seperately on top of booking.

Great room. Standard size really good value overlooking the river. Great location in easy walking distance of restaurants, cafes shops and sites Reception staff engaging and helpful Private parking at a cost

Seemed to be a lack of staff. Specifically experienced staff. Reception staff were great, but the one breakfast we had and trying to use the bar left a lot to be desired. Given it is the major hotel in town disappointed that the restaurant is not open except for a very basic breakfast

Lovely building and location - our room overlooked the Meuse with a balcony which was very pleasant. - excellent shower. The gardens to the rear of the property are very relaxing with plenty of mature trees. The terrace to the rear from the bar is lovely but not much used it seemed which was a shame. Secure parking for 15 euros was very useful as we had bikes and a roof box. I would suggest that comfy tables etc at the front of the property serving coffee, drinks etc would be popular.

Breakfast was good but could be improved with cereals/muesli, better fresh fruit, fresh orange juice and pastries (croissants too doughy). We were woken up a 02:30 by lots of noise from “la barge” moored on the Meuse outside the hotel so next time we might opt for a room overlooking the rear garden or join in the fun.

Very central location in Verdun, on the river. Reasonable size room, with a small balcony overlooking the Meuse River....especially pretty with the lighting overnight until dawn. Lovely and clean with modern bathroom. A very attractive City river side in front of the hotel and classy buildings and trees , with good Saturday evening atmosphere both on the Riverside and the hotel Terrace/ Bar. Secure locked parking next to the hotel at night ( 15 euro).

They were not aware of our planned arrival despite only booking a few hours earlier and their team having responded to our question about our dog. As a result of previous reviewers, we didn't have breakfast at the hotel , but lovely patisserie shop , including coffee nearby.

Room was very clean as was the Hotel generally.Very nice view over the river. Breakfast was the usual continental and adequate.

Receptionist although very pleasant did not speak english as advertised. Fortunately we managed to check in French. There are very steep steps from the car park and we were only offered the use of the disabled lift after we had unloaded most of our luggage.

the central location overlooking the town & river. Great parking & a fabulous bedroom with the best bathroom facilities. property albeit on Covid reductions, recommend the accommodation & location for visiting Verdun & surrounding area. The receptionist whom checked us in at 5pm was absolutely excellent & explained all facilities & how to get around Verdun. Music festival on 1st night which added to our enjoyment.

Nothing as understand F&B not viable and restricted bar hours. Hooefully when out of Covid this business will enjoy better F&B support as the Hotel deserves to be successful in all areas.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. The location was good and gave easy access to all aspects of the town of Verdun. There was extremely secure parking but this came at a cost. The room was nice and the bed was very large. It would have been nice to have a bath for the price.

There was no restaurant and there was not much of an atmosphere in the evenings. The fridge did not appear to work as it was set to 8 degrees and the air conditioning was only adjustable from the reception and not in the room. There was a smell of smoking coming into the room from the terrace below at certain times of the day and evening.
