Hôtel Gutenberg

The location is super. The hotel is located in the heart of the city. The majestic cathedral is just a few minutes' walk away. Other attractions, museums, cafes and restaurants are also very close to the hotel. The staff members were very helpful and friendly. They provided us with a lot of useful information and necessary assistance. The rooms were very cozy and well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and very tasty, the choice of dishes was wide. We booked several rooms for our family members. The hotel kindly provided us with rooms next to each other. In addition, we were offered the opportunity to order some goods and services in advance. It was very nice. We ordered the offered wine and local chocolate. Both the wine and the chocolate were delicious. We liked everything very much.

The location was amazing for sightseeing purposes. The air conditioner was really comforting in the summer time. The fridge was in the room. The breakfast was rich. We liked that there was an opportunity to drink tea in other times in the room (the staff provided teabags and/or hot water. The top shower was cool.

The tram station was in 10 min of walking and that was inconvenient for elderly people. The wardrobe was rather small and was divided in two different ones, that was kinda inconvenient. Only a half of the shower was covered and after showering the whole floor was covered with water. Also for tall people the arrangement of the toilet would be too narrow.

The staff at the hotel were SO kind and helpful! We arrived early and they stored our luggage...then delivered it to our room while we were out. It was our anniversary, so they gave us some delicious gourmet chocolate. The room was small, but had good working a/c, a very comfortable bed, and an excellent shower. We very much appreciated the mini fridge and espresso machine. Absolutely PERFECT location in the old town.

The a/c was having some sort of pump issue and therefore made an annoying vibrating noise every few minutes. An employee came to look at it and gave us an explanation of why it was acting that way... but he thought it would stop soon. Unfortunately, it did not stop and made noise all night! It would have been so nice to have been offered a better room without this issue.

The location of the hotel is amazing, an easy walk to all points of interest. Our exec room overlooked the street with a balcony and it was a highlight of our trip to sit out watch the world go by. Breakfast was good, an average breakfast of continental and eggs and sausage. Our room was fresh and clean with super soft robes. Nespresso machine in the room.

Initially when we checked in we were allocated a much smaller room at the back of the hotel which looked nothing like the corresponding photos in booking.com so the gentleman at reception was nice enough to look at a room move and the room we moved to was exceptional so I am very grateful for his patience. It can be hit and miss to get the car space in front of the hotel in order to stop and unload (or load) the bags. I am not a big fan of the separate toilet that the french hotels have by law, it just feels small and noisy especially of traveling with someone who is sitting in the bedroom (but this is common in many hotels).

A large and spacious room that was well decorated. Good shower and nice bathroom amenities. It would be the perfect location to enjoy the Christmas market as its closeby. They were redocrating the rooms while I was there and they seemed very nice.

The surly chap at the front desk was abrupt and rude. I called down to let him know I'd like my room cleaned and that I had to send the housekeepers away because they came in when I was in the shower. He said "WHAT? WHAT?" and so I repeated - YOUR CLEANERS CAME IN WHILE I WAS BATHING. and he said "SO?" and I said, "I prefer not to have strangers walk into my room when I'm naked. Please tell them to come back." and then he calmed down. Really, he acted like no matter what you asked or said to him was a big problem and this was the week BEFORE the Christmas Market started so it wasn't due to him being extremely busy. Breakfast was quite expensive for what it was. The rooms are loud because the nightclubs are nearby. Strasbourg has a lot of students, don't expect a gentile quiet stay.

The location of this place is fantastic! It was close enough that we could stop by throughout the day. The view from our room was magical, and the hotel staff were lovely and welcoming.

We had the attic room, we didn't realise just how tight that shower was (it has a triangular shape at the top). We struggled to fit into the shower itself and close the door. The mirror over the sink is also slanted, so made it impossible to use to do makeup etc. Again, this was the attic room, I'm sure the other rooms wouldn't have this problem. The bathroom was the main downside, but worth the sacrifice for the location!

An absolute gem! Perfect location within 2 minutes walk of Notre Dame Cathedral, yet accessible by taxi to front door, so very convenient especially with luggage. Easy walking distance to all the cafes, restaurants and shops in Petite France too. Compact modern rooms with very comfortable beds, good bathrooms and all the amenities needed for a multiple night stay. Perfect soundproofing eliminating any noise from outside, nor could you hear anything from the corridors. Excellent buffet breakfast. Whilst not included in our rate, we gladly paid extra and thoroughly enjoyed the variety and quality. Special thanks to Christine and Melanie at Reception. Nothing was too much trouble to them.

Really appreciated the efficacy and friendliness of the staff, the most central location, the fusion of old building and mod cons as well as the size of the room. Shower was nice, bed was very comfortable. Lovely pad to explore the city from. Would definitely recommend staying here and would also stay here again without hesitation.

Two very minor issues: not sure about the honey-perfumed toiletries - it’s quite strong and might not be everyone’s cup of tea - I was glad I had brought my own as I was smelling like a sickly-sweet attraction to wasps after my first shower. WIFI was a bit hit and miss on the fourth floor, so had to switch my own data on here and there to access Google maps. Otherwise, all was great!

I had a particular experience. I reserved an attic room but it didn’t meet my expectations than I request for a change and they promptly moved us to another one. I slept in the attic room and it was pretty awful. Super small with a bad and noisy air conditioning. The second room instead was super spacious and comfortable. Overall it was a nice experience but luckily I changed the first room.

Very clean and well-designed room.... great soundproofing! We opened the windows at 5am and were surprised at all the noise & chatter on the street. The location is right is perfect for a first spin around Strasbourg. It is in the center of old town and just minutes from the most interesting areas. Petit France, Keiber, The Cathedrale, trams and all the museums are within walking distance. Great selection of restaurants and good guidance from staff.

Our safe did not work - but they did try to fix it. Consequently used the front desk safe....just an inconvenience. Everything else was spot on.
