This place is a little gem. A beautiful traditional house, a charming, quirky garden, friendly and attentive hosts who clearly love meeting people and for whom nothing was too much trouble. They even brought an espresso for elevenses. Bonuses: a plunge pool and two friendly cats. Parking was just outside. The room, which had a bit of an Egyptian theme going on, was large, comfortable and immaculately clean. The modern bathroom with large shower and separate toilet were partitioned off from the room through sliding doors. Blushes were spared by using the toilet at the back of the hall! Breakfast was served in the garden - your choices of hot drink and juice, with ham, cheese, bread and croissants, home-made yogurt and preserves and honey. We chose to stop here when driving from Cherbourg to southern Spain, plumping for Pons simply because it was en route. The tiny village turned out to be awash with ancient buildings, including the pilgrims’ hospital, a UNESCO World Heritage site!

What’s not to like?

I am so glad we found this gem of a B&B in the beautiful town of Pons during an overnight stop on our way to Spain. I wish we could have stayed longer. Benedicte has taken such care of her rooms in this lovely old and characterful house. Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable with everything we needed to have a lovely stay and breakfast in the morning was superb. We sat in the large French kitchen and enjoyed fresh bread and homemade jam with coffee, chatting with Benedicte and her husband and their lovely friendly cats. I would highly recommend St James House and I would most definitely return. You’ll love it.

First class B&B, warm welcome and easy to find. Room comfortable with all expected amenities, just make sure you have shower gel / shampoo as none in the bathroom. Parking free in the square by the tower and is about 100yds away. We ate and drank at Cafe Donjon next to the square which was superb. Breakfast was great, especially if the weather good so you can sit outside in the garden. Will definitely stay here again if back in Pons.

Totally charming guest house with a lovely couple as our hosts. They couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable and we loved sharing their beautiful home with their 3 lovely cats. Beautifully located near restaurants bars and local places of interest all within easy strolling distance, it’s a wonderful place to stay and we’ ll definitely go back.great breakfast too!

Spacious room with big bathroom. A friendly and helpful host who helped us with ordering a taxi.

Check-out was until 11 am in booking app, but the host wanted us to do check-out as soon as possible.

Wonderful welcome very informative excellent location room spotless whole housebeatifully decorated lovely breakfast especially home made jam would definitely recommend and stay again.
