Le Relais Louis XI

The room had a wonderful view over the river, and was spacious, unfortunately the window is small . The shower room was large with a walk-in shower, and good size washbasin. Again unfortunately we were there during a top 30's heatwave so the room was very hot, but the hotel supplied a fan, which was much appreciated. The hotel included in there popular facilities a restaurant, which didn't actually belong to the hotel, even though it is on the premises. It was my birthday and I was looking forward to a nice meal. The menu was minimal which is okay if there has been thought and effort put into the courses, but it was pretty plain. Plus it was not cheap, I get a lot better at home. We had not booked breakfast, expecting a good feed the night before. I would stay again, as the hotel is in a very pleasant area,

Beautiful old historic building, spacious bedroom, Lovely view of the Loire. Very welcoming staff. Comfortable bed, nice linen. Magnificent location.

No drink making facilities in the bedroom, and no bottled water available in the bedroom. The restaurant is a separate business, apparently, and the menus are a little on the expensive side for an overnight stop, rather than a meal out (three courses 39€) Whatever happened to the Logis "menu de terroir"? Having said that, we found the Relais had improved from our last stay before the pandemic, but if we stay again, we will probably try to find a bistro in town for our evening meal. Shame really.

Great location, Good restaurant for the evening meal with excellent food, Rooms spacious, reasonably appointed and beds very comfortable.

Breakfast was very poor and certainly not good value. Arriving just before 9am, we had to ask for milk and even croissants. These were brought out in very sparing supply so any other guest would have to ask again. Disappointing to say the least and certainly not worth the money.

We loved our warm welcome from the host after a long journey - it made so much difference. The rooms were magnificent with hugely high ceilings and nice bathrooms and wonderful views. We got rooms next to each other which was great with two children (recommend Rm 401-402!). The restaurant next door was very good (not cheap) & had it have been sunny it would have been amazing to sit in the beautiful green courtyard garden.

Our room was very spacious with a great river view. The innergarden is well kept and invites you to have a drink (unresistable). It is a small hotel (Logis de France) in an old building. All of it very French. Good to know, there is no lift, but they have rooms accesible on the ground floor. So no excuse to skip this wonderful French jewel. The restaurant at the hotel is of a different owner, so you cannot debit the meals on your room. No problem, you just have to know. The food is great. Loved it. Breakfasdt is good and complete. Having it on the terrace at the riverside, will guarantee you of a sweet memory at this lovely Relais. The village is beautiful and the chateau worthwile to visit.

Nothing. Or it must be the mosquitos which come out in the evening. But that is logical in a watery surrounding. Just keep your window closed till dark. In the morning they are not there, so you can breath in the fresh cool river air and scent.

This is a fabulous ancient property with really large and comfortable rooms. It’s situation overlooking the Loire is magnificent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent. I believe the restaurant in the same building is independent of the hotel, but was also truly excellent with very good food and wine and extremely efficiently organised.

The staff would leave the windows open to air the room, meaning there were a lot of flies and mosquitoes in the room in the evening. It’s an old building, so you hear people in the hall way, but all guests were very quiet. Except one couple with a dog who barked a lot, I thought this hotel did not allow dogs.

Lovely place and wonderfully helpful staff. I had made a mistake with my reservation, which the hotel could have easily exploited at my expense. I’ve had that happen before. But this hotel couldn’t have been more gracious about finding a solution. I’m so appreciative that their help allowed us to stay at this delightful property on the river

such a beautiful building overlooking the river with lovely walled gardens. we were in the tower with big rooms but all very bare.

our rooms were pretty basic with no kettle or tray. the bathroom was in need of an upgrade and the bed was very old and creaky.

The position was fantastic and parking was on site . The view from our room was beautiful and the sound of the river relaxing. The service was excellent and the Dutch manager was super friendly with nothing to much trouble . The Sunday Market is worth a visit .

I can not fault the hotel or staff , the only moan I have is with the only bar open all day situated in the town square where the young staff were rude , disinterested and appalling service attitude .
