Le Phenix Hotel

Very nice location right on the river and in a walking distance from town center. The room was very clean and the staff was polite.

There were no glasses or slippers in the room, no electric cattle for water which are some of the things you would expect in a 4* hotel.

The staff at Le Phenix is super professional and kind. They were able to accommodate both an early check-in request and an extension of our stay when our plans changed. We were also invited to join their vendor event spontaneously and truly enjoyed meeting the vintners who supply their bar. Our room was comfortable and large. We will be back!

The thermostat wanted to keep the room a bit warmer than we like, and opening the windows was to typical city smells (diesel and smoke). I think this was our issue, rather than the hotel's, but we never figured out the temperature controls.

Location was very good at the edge of the old town and right on the river. All of the old town and Presque-Isle within easy walking distance. Air conditioner in room was greatly appreciated as it was 104 Fahrenheit when we arrived. Breakfast was very good but on the expensive side at €18 pp. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Breakfast was a bit expensive. The room came with a jetted tub and a funky shower setup in the tub that was hard to use comfortably.

Amazing place in the historical part of Lyon. There are many bars and restaurants in the area to suit all tastes. Inside the hotel looks modern and cozy. Friendly staff is always ready to help. My room was small with low ceilings and on the top floor which was amazing. Everything is very compact, without unnecessary things. But from the window there is a very pleasant view: the roofs of neighboring buildings, the cathedral. It was very nice to come back after walking to the room.

There is a technical box next to the bed and sometimes you can hear the sounds of the air conditioner or ventilation. Since I was not often in the room, I heard this sound only 2 times.

You can’t beat this location, especially for the price. We only had one afternoon and evening in Lyon which we regretted after arriving and seeing how cool the city and our hotel was! The staff at Le Phénix try really hard to make your stay as nice as possible. The design, mixing minimal modernism with the historic architecture was spot on. Highly recommend!

The only thing I would fault is the price of breakfast, not just here but at all hotels for the most part. Way too expensive for what you get so we never purchase them, opting for a local coffeehouse usually.

Hotel’s location is on the outer edge of the old quarter- accessible without the high traffic & noise of the old quarter. We had a river-view room which greatly enhanced our appreciation of Lyon. Hotel decor is Scandinavian modern, in contrast to the traditional architecture.

Nothing at all! If I had to nitpick, I will point out that the Plat du Moment in the resturant did not change throughout the seven nights we were there. But there were plenty of dining choices nearby.

Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a lovely river view. The hotel is nicely updated and very stylish. Good location for visiting the Old Quarter and other sites. The staff is helpful and friendly. Very good double insulated windows so there is no street noise.

There was no surround or curtain around the shower so the floor got soaked. A lounge area closer to the bar would be ideal.

I absolutely recommend this hotel! My room was spotless and so comfortable- I had a huge comfortable bed, a bathtub with jets, and I never heard any noise from surrounding guests. I was traveling alone and felt very safe here. The hotel is also making efforts to be eco-friendly, such as refilling glass bottles of water rather than providing plastic ones, which I thought was neat. This was the best hotel to return to after long days exploring the city. I loved how close this hotel was to everything, especially Vieux Lyon, because it was easy to pop back to my room to take a break or charge my phone during the day. Last, the staff was super friendly and helpful with everything I needed, like scheduling a taxi and giving me recommendations. Overall, this was possibly the best hotel I stayed in out of five during my trip and I would absolutely go back.

There could have been more amenities in the room like a kettle, coffee maker, lotion etc... just your basics we're not provided. Also... some weirdness around certain items available for breakfast. I'm gluten free and could not eat most of the items offered. What I could eat (bacon @ sausages) ran out 1 hr before breakfast ended. I asked the server if they could replenish but she just shook her and and said no. Not what one would expect.

Great location in Vieux Lyon, close to restaurants and bars but double glazing means we didn’t hear any of the associated noise. Friendly staff, with someone available 24/7 if required.

A very minor point but the toilet door creaks which is annoying in the middle of the night.
