WE HAVE BEEN THERE SEVERAL TIMES AND FIND IT VERY WELCOMING AS WE BREAK OUR JOURNEY TO THE DORDOGNE. WE LOVE THE AMBIENCE AND HISTORY OF THE HOTEL AND IT IS GEOGRAPHICALLY PLACED JUST WHER WE NEED IT.

ALTHOUGH WE CHOSE A SUPERIOR ROOM I THINK THE COST OF AROUND EURO 360 FOR ONE NIGHT WITH DINNER IS FAR TOO EXPENSIVE. THE DINNER WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. THE TINY SCALLOPS WERE SWIMMING IN A VERY STRONG BROWN SAUCE WHICH WAS TOTALLY OUT OF SINC WITH THE DELICATE FLAVOUR OF THE SCALLOPS. ON THE MAIN COURSE, THE DUCHESSE POTATOES WERE SEVERELY BURNT AND WHEN REPLACED WITH FRIES , THE FRIES WERE SOGGY AND CHEAP. THE RESTAURANT CONTINUED TO SERVE THE POTATOES TO EVERYONE ELSE . I FEEL THE RESTAURANT NEEDS A NEW CHEF AND THE FOOD NEEDS UPDATING . IT IS GREAT TO HAVE AN HISTORIC HOTEL BUT THE FOOD SHOULD NOT BE OUT OF THE SIXTIES WHEN THE WORLD HAS MOVED ON.

Lovely staff. Most could speak English which helps as a lot of hotels in small towns don't. As an Irish couple we're happy to accept that but it was a bonus. Lovely rooms. Helpful staff in a great location. Lots of Le Mans memorabilia to view. Has pool too. Easy check in and check out. Daily room service. Had a lovely meal there on one of the two nights we stayed. We had the Carroll Shelby deluxe room which has a 4 poster bed and front square views. Lots of cafés and bars around. Hotel has them too. Well worth a stay.

No aircon. Only a fan blowing hot air around the room. Very warm at night in August and tough to sleep.

Beautiful French style room, located in the middle of the square, frequented in the 50s and 60s by the Le Mans drivers who wanted to get away from the media. The seating outside the hotel overlooked the small square, ideal for just sipping a glass of wine or watching the world go by. A small pool at the rear of the hotel, ideal for those with small children. Most impressive was the attention to detail, the staff were most helpful and spoke good English. The food was exceptional, 2 courses for 34 euros or 3 courses for 43 euros.

Breakfast was not included and cost an extra 14 euros each, and we decided it was too expensive to pay 28 euros, so opted for croissants and a couple of cafe au lait across the road for just 6 euro.

The location was superb, being close enough to the Le Mans circuit to make it a perfect base for visiting the race, but it felt as if we were much further away on the banks of the loire. We loved the Le Mans theme of the hotel and its outlook onto a pretty square.

One of our rooms was exquisite - everything we hoped for, one room was of reasonable size, whereas the third room was a little cramped with the bed almost filling the entire space.

I visited on the Wednesday evening before the Le Mans Classic. This hotel is steeped in historical reference to the racing teams who stayed here in the 1950's onwards. Magical feel about the place, very small village French and so picturesque. Shops nearby for essentials. Busy restaurant but the food was great. Good selection of wines as well.

They needed at least one other waiter/waitress on the night I stayed. It was a little chaotic - a full house! Some guests were left waiting too long for their orders to be taken. If they had been served drinks and small snacks it would've reduced the stress all round.

Lovely, old fashioned hotel in a great setting in a pretty village by the river. Very polite, friendly, welcoming staff who made sure we got a good table in the restaurant even though we arrived late. Delicious dinner and excellent waiter. Second time we've stayed here. Just sort the beds out and it will be perfect.

The bed! Small, hard and lumpy mattress and pillows the same. Such a pity as we booked a premium room and expected better.

Great location, bit quirky. possibly a bit over the top Les Man’s themed for some but nice restaurant and bar area. Good food and service. Rooms small but comfy bed. Our dog Finn was made very welcome by all the staff which was lovely.

Only criticism would be far too much bedding on the bed considering the heat - quilt/blanket when it’s 27 degrees but that’s pretty minor!

Lovely staff! Very friendly and polite, but also professional. Great restaurant: set menu available as well as a la carte. I hardly ever have a desert, but I had to have a macaroon and it was heavenly: perfect cream, moist pastry, rich sorbet and the abundance of fresh fruit. The wine menu is super interesting and representative of the region

An overnight stay on a journey south from the UK. We have stayed here several times. Lovely hotel and staff. Vegetarian menu was not great though - well cooked, but a strange variation of a meat course. Put a little more thought into that aspect of the kitchen and this will be a 100/100 hotel for me.

My wife stealing my adapter plugs, as ever.

Lovely small town French hotel. Very well presented. It was twelve years since our last visit but we were not disappointed. As I have got older and am not as mobile as I was the lack of a lift was a bit of a challenge but having worked out an approach to the stairs I managed ok.

Not much at all. It was good to be back.
