Hotel & Spa Vacances Bleues Le Splendid

Art Deco experience does not describe it... it's more like time travel into a forgotten realm of faded 30-ies grandeur. We ended up there by accident and I was surprised not to see Hercule Poirot in the lobby... Apparently Ernest Hemingway swung by the other day... Who knows. Did not see any Bugattis or Cadillacs outside. The rooms were unabashedly comfortable. You did not "fall" asleep. You "sunk" into a world of dreams. Bathrooms were grand. You would have the shower even if you were clean! Aircon worked. We had "canal view" rooms which offered a splendid morning view - just like the name suggested. Kids remember this hotel most from our trip even though it did not have a swimming pool. (well, that is not true - there is a Spa, which we sadly did not have a time to enjoy!). Perhaps next time...

Instructions for car parking would have been nice.

The hotel has a very exquisite decoration, which can also be found in some of the rooms. We had a room which included a main room with the beds and sofa (which could be turned into a bed) and an ante-room with access to the bathroom and the toilet. The staff was very friendly and helpful with our inquiries. The breakfast was quite extensive and the staff tried to provide vegan options, such as Soy milk.

The Spa was only accessible during short periods, access to the spa was charged at extra costs. This should be more clearly stated on the booking.com website. The Restaurant closes very early, so it was not possible to have a drink and some snacks when we arrived.

The hotel is perfectly located. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Spa center with swimming pool, hammam, floating, sauna and delicious tea is simply magnificent, but available only for an additional fee. It was free for the residents of the hotel before the covid, so be careful when booking a room. It was very good that there were few people in the spa. Massages, spa rituals and visit to spa center must be booked in advance.

The ambiance in the hotel is very pleasant and it has the feel of a top class art deco hotel which must have been ‘splendid’ when it was built. The staff were all very courteous and helpful and the rooms were large and very comfortable, although they are old fashioned.

Parking was not ideal. You have to leave the car in a public car park nearby and there is nowhere to stop to drop off bags before parking. The car park Is quite old and the spaces are small - we damaged our car whilst squeezing in!

The hotel is located on the river and near lots of eateries and shopping in center of town. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We were on bicycles and were able to store them securely in baggage room. The rooms are spacious, the beds super comfortable. The bathrobes and slippers added a touch of luxury. We highly recommend this hotel.

Not a thing.

The atmosphere. Loved the art deco architecture. Location was fantastic. My stay was short so would love to come back and experience more before I can give a more comprehensive verdict. We left very early, before breakfast. However the staff coming on duty still made the effort to give us a coffee.

The need to use a public pay car park. Think the hotel could possibly do a deal to include the parking? Parking is very convenient maybe get the ticket validated as part of the booking?

Absolutely huge room with 2 double beds (we were upgraded by Booking.com to a privilege room) that were extremely comfortable. The beds and pillows were amazing. The room was spotlessly clean. The best reason to stay at this hotel is the Spa. For 15 euro you can spend the morning or afternoon downstairs in the thermal baths. Do not pass up the opportunity to spend time there. C'est fantastique!!

The room we stayed in was the tiniest bit dated but the bathroom was new and all the facilities were very comfortable and clean.

We were on a one night stay with our fox terrier. We booked a comfort double and it was huge and the bed and pillows really comfortable. Bathroom was spacious with really soft towels and great shower ! Very central location for wandering out if you needed to. All faclities great at the hotel.

Could have done with some milk for our coffee ! The bathroom was huge but the toilet wasn't separate and didn't have a door .. only minor but would have been nice to have a separate toilet.

The room was very spacious and although we only used the hotel to sleep and xontinue our journey it was very comfortable and the breakfast was very nice with lots of choices

I would have given the hotel a 10 out of 10 until checkout. I asked for an invoice to the man behind the checkout and he refused to change it to our company name. Very bad manners and not willing to help in any way. He said he can write the details on there! Unbelievable!

The staff were amazing! I truly appreciated them going the extra mile to make my stay fabulous, even when there was a misunderstanding about needing to reserve the spa! I absolutely loved my stay! It was so relaxing, and the spa of course is incredible and it's the best being able to access it in the hotel! I had the best time there unwinding and letting my aches and pains from a long drive and long morning hike, melt away! I must say that the location of the hotel is wonderful too! I enjoyed looking out my window at the sunrise and then walking along the waterfront and over the bridges and taking pictures, and also exploring the nearby streets, when they were quiet in the early morning, and then visiting some great stores later! Easy parking really close too! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!!☺️

Just make sure with covid to make a spa reservation early because it's the best part of staying here and I nearly missed out on it!
