Kyriad Hotel Clermont Ferrand Centre

Booked at the last minute as we needed somewhere for a stop over stay, and this is a perfect example of why we use Booking.com We arrived late in the afternoon/early evening so thought we might get a better deal booking with the hotel direct. Amazingly, this wasn’t the case the price of the room at the hotel on the night was nearly £45.00 more that what we could get on Booking.com. This might have been due to the fact that it was a bank holiday weekend. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and checked us in with ease. Our room was of a decent size and whilst basic, was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. There was secure parking, which was great for €15. The receptionist told us that there was free parking across the road if we preferred. We opted for the hotel parking as we had a car full of stuff that we could leave in the car. We found a great restaurant in the square which was only a short walk from the hotel called La Faisan Dore, were the food was great and the service was really good.

The pillows could have been better

The location was great. We didn't really know much about Clermont-Ferrand but this hotel was well located to see the city and the surrounding countryside. We were able to park both our motorbikes in a single place in the secure parking which was fantastic. Breakfast was good with the first hot options during our entire trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Muzak in the lift was a bit meh and very repetitive but that's really searching for something not to like.

Well located and reasonably priced hotel within walking distance to town centre, shops and restaurants. Parking (even though an additional cost) was handy. We had some urgent documents to print and Lea was most helpful. At check in we were told a twin room was ready for us. We had booked a double. Initially we were informed we had booked a twin, however when we produced our booking confirmation documentation which showed a double room, this was quickly rectified and an upgrade to a larger room with a king bed given! Thank you so much!

The air conditioning units in the hotel had been set to heat only (apparently because it was coming into winter). However, the temperatures were in the mid 20s (unusual for early October) and the sun was streaming into our room making it rather warm. Even with the balcony door open, it was uncomfortable, especially mid-late afternoon. The cost of parking was a little expensive at 15 euros per night and a space could not be reserved. However, we did not experience any difficulties with availability and were happy not to have to hunt for a parking spot.

Breakfast was excellent for the category of the hotel with fresh regional products and warm food prepared at the moment. Tea and coffee facilities in the room were also varied and generous, a really pleasant surprise. The bed was comfortable and cleanliness was excellent everywhere.

The building is not attractive or charming at all, nor is the view from the bedrooms. The location is average: just south of the city center and main squares but far from the rain station (which is pretty distant from the city center in any case) Check-in was slow due to a long queue and just one employee. The lobby is small, especially around the reception counter so there is no privacy at all during check-in, which can be quite annoying

Nice reception and area to welcome guests, you could hang out here if you didnt want to walk the 3 minutes into the center. You can get a coffee or a beer when you return back to the hotel. The water in the room is drinkable, but no refrigerator in the superior room.

I had a superior room, but it was fairly basic. I would expect the standard rooms to be quite small relative to this. The room does not offer any views, but I did not expect any either. The heating / cooling could be annoying as individual room control isn't so great.

The Hotel has so much character, it really is what you see in the pictures of the property. the owners have put so much effort into turning this place into a beautiful and typically French period residence, you can see the effort they’ve made in every room every corner and nook and cranny, I would I highly recommend this accommodation. it was great value for us as a family too, although we did stay on a Sunday night which may have made it a bit cheaper. I staff were great the girl at reception was helpful, and had good English so I didn’t need my rubbish French!

Location was ideal. 5 minutes walk to the centre. Good parking. Breakfast was quite substantial with a good choice. The receptionist who we saw was lovely. He gave us a map and suggested places to eat and drink. Room was comfy.

There was only one coffee machine at breakfast which led to big queues. The actual breakfast area could have been bigger. It didn't flow.

Convenient location, 5 min walk to big square with restaurants, bars, shops & 15 mins to cathedral, has parking, good sized rooms - we were upgraded to deluxe via Booking.com status- kettle, tea & coffee - a rare luxury in french hotels, extremely comfortable super king sized beds & 2 pillow choices. Decent bathroom - with bath/ another rare luxury in french hotels. Air conditioning, no ‘people’ noise! Thoroughly recommend

The location is excellent. The included breakfast was out of this world. The shower and toilet are separated.

The parking in the facility is limited, and we ended having to find parking in the centre. It wasn't so hard to find though since it was night time. However, daytime would be a different story. The balcony could do with a sweep.

The balcony was very large. The room was spacious. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Close to a supermarket. A 10 minute walk to the main city square.

No seating on the balcony. Only one chair in the room. Quite far away from the train station. No plug near the bed for charging the phones.
