Hotel Le Cercle

Ok I'll start by admitting that I've never spent any significant time in Cherbourg. It's always just been a point of arrival or departure. What a gem we've been missing! It's lovely big pedestrianised areas and lively cafe/bar atmosphere is fantastic and very easy to get around. The Hotel de Cercle is right in the heart of this. The room was huge (junior suite) and spotless. The bathroom was massive and the shower was perfect. The room had everything we needed for a family of 4. We opted for the breakfast option and were very happy that we did. There were lots of fresh and delicious options. The bread and fresh juice were especially good. The parking is over the road in a very reasonably priced car park (€2.90 all night). The staff in particular were friendly, helpful and very happy to help. Wholeheartedly recommend though.

One word of advice would be bring earplugs. The hotel is very centrally located which is very convenient but obviously comes with a degree of noise and the hotel's green credentials mean it is very well insulated and warm, so if you want the windows open....

If you are looking for an amazing hotel in Cherbourg. Look no further. This was the second time I stayed at this amazing hotel. The staff went out of their way and ordered me a taxi on two occasions. They were all very helpful. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very modern. The bath rooms are amazing and have everything you need. I definitely will stay at this amazing hotel again in the near future. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, Lived in the United States for over thirty years and served with the United States Marines all over the World. I definitely know an amazing hotel from all my Travels and Life Experiences. This Establishment rates ten stars ⭐️ and more. You won’t be disappointed by your stay here.

No dislikes at all

lovely property and well located with a church opposite. Friendly & attentive staff, enjoyable breakfast.

I was going to say the lack of towels in the bathroom but it was our fault for not checking the drawer! so…nothing we didn’t like!

Lovely hotel, very well located just a few minutes walk from all the centre. Friendly staff who were extremely helpful. Very clean and comfortable room

No negstives

Staff was very friendly, both, at the reception, as well as at breakfast,. Breakfast was excellent, with a really great selection of food on offer. Although, the hotel does not have a car park, it was really easy to find parking space just a few yards away at very low cost.

There are only two slightly negative points: The air in the room was very sticky and it only had a fan, no air conditioning. Further, the window could only get opened fully, and not at a tilt. With the warm weather, we slept with the fully opened window, careful not to bang against it when getting out of bed, but if the weather gets hotter, it will be tough to find sleep. Second point is, as the toilet is separate from the bathroom, it would've been great to have a basin to wash hands in the toilet, too.

This hotel is a modern building extended into adjacent older properties. Not beautiful but OK. Our room was really spacious and well-equipped. Great value. It is the opposite end of town from the ferry and rail station near the yachting marina, but the town centre takes only about 10 min to walk through so not much of a handicap. BBC World on the TV (English language quite rare in a mid-range hotel in France) and was appreciated as could watch Liz Truss resign live.

Given the above, nothing really. They phoned for a minicab rather than a metered taxi to get us to the ferry which was a bit of a rip-off but happens all the time unless you make a fuss.

Hotel Le Cercle is a very well located hotel in Cherbourg, right on Napoleon Square, across the street from Saint Trinite church and near the Ferry terminal. I was pleased to find a lovely room with a super comfortable bed and amenities like a great coffee maker and a small fridge, where I found some courtesy items. Breakfast was very good and included a small machine to make yourself a freshly squeezed Orange juice. The owner has a wonderful art collection on the walls of common areas. The staff was super helpful and friendly. A very good value for money.

Nothing

Besides the large two windows there were electric blinders that completely isolated the room from noise and light. Bed was large and confortable with a good desk. Toilet was reasonable with good shower and no leaks whatsoever. Breakfast had a good variety and quality. Staff very professional and nice. If coming back in Cherbourg no need to look elsewhere. Place is perfect.

comfortable room and well equipped. staff very helpful and friendly. We came in our camper van and they sorted out the car park (which is quite tight) to accommodate it. If you want a space book it in advance as it only takes a small number of cars.

there was work going on in a part of the building that was through an entry at the end of our corridor. Noise and dust was still coming through as they had not sealed up the entry adequately. Also there was noise from the floor immediately above our room which went on into the night.
