Cecilia Hotel

Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Facilities are excellent but the kitchen is small. I had private room with bathroom and it was great. Cecilia is in the BEST part of Cairo. 5 minutes or less to everything- transport, metro, food, retail- the works. Private TV lounge is great so is rooftop. Finally, if you leave your room door open you could wake up with a free house cat.

The roof top breakfast open air room was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a small private bathroom. Breakfast was very good and nice and fresh. Love your falafel.

It needed some up keep and could have been cleaner. We had a room on another floor, so maybe didn't get as much attention. We knew we were staying at a hostel, so expected very little to be provided. The building is just very old and in desperate need of repair. The building's entry way looks like a scene from a horror movie. Just a little light, some cleaning and paint could help. We had one bed with broken slats and the mattresses were pretty gross. I hope these young owners are able to put a little love into their business soon.

The staff at the hotel is amazing! They are the most trustworthy, genuine and kind people we have met in Egypt so far. Every single staff we have interacted with left a good impression on us. They were very accommodating to our needs and made sure that we had the most comfortable stay. Breakfast was nothing fancy but the fact that the staff would wake up earlier to prepare them for us if we had to leave early in the morning is really sweet. We also booked a very affordable tour with the hotel to Alexandria and we enjoyed ourselves very much.

We had black outs every night during our stay which lasted between 30 min to 2 hours. One of the rooms we booked is quite hot as the temperature cannot be adjusted. The windows in the other room cannot be shut properly so we have to deal with the constant honking of cars throughout the night.

Staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean.

My first room was very rundown. The traffic noise was also so bad I couldn’t sleep - obviously not their fault but beware that street noise, honking, etc. will continue until 2 am and the street facing rooms (which most of them are) will be loud. Also, they could do more to keep pigeons away from the covered rooftop where they serve breakfast and/or get the typical hotel style buffet serving dishes to ensure food is 100% covered when not being accessed by a guest.

Hostel Cecilia does not feel like a hotel but definitely it feels like HOME! The warm welcome, persistent help from all the crew, kindness, friendliness and so much fun with everyday contact define this place. I have spend there 3 weeks and I cannot wait to come back. It's a place with a heart. Early morning or late at night- you will always find great company there. Beautiful members of the team played a significant role in understanding Egyptian culture and made me fall in love with it. More than highly recommended!

if there was such a thing as a 5 star hostel, this would be it. It's the Hilton of hostels . From the clean rooms , to the toilet and showers . The unique beds, wich have the elevator To the amazingly friendly staff. This place to both remember and miss. I will definitely be back here when in Cairo. Sure there is a city wide blackout between 19pm to 20pm but since this on the Terrace and nice weather there and It really is just a minority thing, the chances of you even experiencing it is very small.

The only bad thing a bout a place like this is that you will hate leaving both the nice beds and the super friendly and helpful staff

Staff very welcoming and so friendly. Really made our trip! Thanks to George, Paula, I can’t remember the lady name on reception but she was lovely. All the ladies at breakfast were lovely to. Staff always happy to help with any needs. Great value for money. Location is really good too. Lots of restaurants, cafes very close by. The Egyptian museum is just round the corner too. I saw a few bad reviews before coming and felt worried but I really don’t understand why. Yes outside isn’t that nice but look past that and see a very historic building and your in Cairo? The building is over 100 years old. Felt more comfortable here than staying in some fancy over priced hotel!! We loved sitting on the balcony in the evenings. Thanks again to all staff for looking after us in a stressful time❤️ Alhamdulillah ❤️

Wi-Fi not good but it’s free!

1. Great location, about 10mins walk from Tahrir Square. All eateries, hookah cafes, etc are just around the corner 2. Lovely staff, speak great english, very friendly and very helpful 3. Rooms were comfortable, beds were cozy and all amenities were great 4. There's a very nice terrace area to relax, chill out n socialise with other guests/travellers. 5. Wifi works great everywhere and I think the included breakfast is great too (although I didn't get to have it as I had to leave in the night for a night bus)

1. Make a note of the power cut timings as the hostel is located on 6th floor n it's a long way up.

We really love this hostel bcz it's location and super friendly staff. after traveling in all major cities of Egypt we believe that Cicellia is the most valued affordable hostel in Egypt. the staff treat every backpacker like family members and super helpful. You will have unforgettable memories about thier smiles from the bottoms of their heart. Thank you Anthony and Sara!

if it's possible the hotel should negotiate with building management to renovate the entrance Hall. actually it only needs to be painted and floor tiles fixed though its an old building in downtown.

The staff first and foremost, friendly, caring, attentive, intelligent and sociable. The location, walking distance to so much to see there’s not enough room to list it. The building, it’s a heritage piece that like so much in the area has seen better days but it’s layered with the charm and patina that only age can bring.

Personally I can’t fault a place for being a piece of history and having the scars to prove it. If you wanted modern fixtures and new amenities why are you even in old Cairo?
