Great no-frills place for a 2-day stay. Excellent value for the price. The staff extremely nice, caring and helpful. Manuel took great care of me - but then, everyone here was wonderful. They helped book (and rebook) my shuttles and gave great advice about local attractions and dining venues; always right on the spot! The room was quite spacious, the bed comfortable, everything sparkling clean. The breakfast was solid and sumptuous.

Noise isolation was an issue. Both nights, could hear a dog howling loudly across the street, late-night passers by, people in the other rooms.

The staff was very friendly and upgraded us to a better room without charge when we asked about some ventilation noice in the room we got. Kind and accommodating in every way.

Although this is outside of the city center, this was not a quiet stay for us. Neighbors’ dogs barking, sometimes for hours, noicy lawn trimmers a couple of afternoons, loud hotel guests on the porch one night, etc. was quite audible since the rooms have no sound isolation. We might have been unlucky, but bring earplugs just in case.

Great breakfast. Fresh eggs and tea and toast. Perfect for me. I made an idle request for whole grain toast and they were quick to ask if they should get whole grain toast for the next day. Very eager to please. Also, I had mistakenly marked 2 people when I made the reservation online. When they realized it was just me, they proactively corrected the price to the lower 1-person rate, which was remarkably kind. (I hadn't noticed or even thought to ask for a lower rate.) Also I arrived HOURS late due to a bus breakdown, but they kept the office open later than usual just to get me my key.

We had such an outstanding stay at Hotel Alicia that we extended our visit on two occasions. The owners are Costa Rican, and the best hosts we have met during our six weeks of travel. They were very welcoming, helpful, and spoke fluent English. As they are from the area, they were able to recommend restaurants, attractions and activities, and they even booked our tours and shuttle. The rooms were modern, very clean and had air conditioning and large windows for natural light. Our bed was comfortable and the shower had lots of hot water. The free breakfast options were great. The hotel is located in a quiet area, less than a 5 minute walk to the main road and town center. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Alicia and our time in La Fortuna.

Nothing at all.

Location was short walk into town and near a Spa that Jose recommended. I didn't like first room and Jose showed me another I preferred. Room is basic, comfortable has AC wifi, TV but never got more than 1 channel.. The breakfast was individually cooked given choices and delish. The hotel was basic which I wanted since I had excursions planned and this was just a home base.

The basics were all here..No reason to be picky.

Hotel Alicia was in a great location, a few minutes' walk from the centre of La Fortuna and a big supermarket. The couple running the hotel were very friendly and served a great breakfast to order each morning- and we loved their cute dog!

The room was quite small- but we did expect this. The wifi was down one day when we were there which was a bit of an inconvenience. Overall, it was a great stay though for a budget trip to La Fortuna.

I had a great stay at Hotel Alicia. So much so that I returned on my second stay in La Fortuna. The room I had was very clean and included hot water, AC and even a TV. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the free breakfast is really appreciated. The hotel is just off the city centre in a quiet part of town. As a solo female traveler I felt safe returning home after dinner. Highly recomend!

Tied as the cleanest place we stayed on our Costa Rica trip and had the most comfortable bed on our trip. Off the main street and very welcoming. Excellent example of a family owned and operated facility that shows the pride for their property and appreciation for their customers. Breakfast was wonderful. Their well behaved unofficial greeter, Gala, the dog, made us feel even more at home.

Although our room did not have a refrigerator, I am certain that if we really needed something to be kept cold, we would have been accommodated by the owners. They indicated that they were working toward providing refrigerators in the future. Since we had been traveling with a cooler, this was only a minor issue that was more than made up for with the hospitality we received.

The friendly staff .the location which was close enough to the centre 10 mins walk from the main square. Great breakfast and tea and coffee you could help yourself to..comfortable bed with air conditioning and TV..but most of all found it exceptional value for money.

Not the largest of rooms!but just sufficient

I stayed twice at Hotel Alicia. The hotel is very close to the town centre and situated in a quiet area. I really appreciated to have the breakfast included. The hosts were very nice and helpful and you can book any tours from the hotel. I would highly recommend the place and would definitely come back !
