Holiday Inn Express - Cartagena Bocagrande, an IHG Hotel

Spacious rooms with comfortable bed and accompanying sofa. They had mini fridge, coffee maker and ironing board. Spacious closets. They provide nice breakfast. Excellent value.

The nearby beach is not great due to maintenance work. Beware plenty of scammers in the beach who try to over charge for everything. It’s not hotel’s mistake, mentioning this for awareness. The surrounding area is like a modern city with plenty of restaurants. I personally enjoyed staying in the Getsemani area where the restaurants and night life are more vibrant.

The room was perfect for the price. The hotel is located in Bocagrande, which is a very busy district (there's a LOT of street vendors trying to sell you tours), but on the other hand, you have supermarkets, pharmacies and restaurants. The beach access was closed, and honestly those beaches are not that great. For the best beaches you have to go to Islas del Rosario, but if you want to go to Cartagena's, you'll have to walk 4-5 blocks from the hotel.

Breakfast could have been better.

The hotel was pleasant inside and the rooms were very comfortable. The location was superb…surrounded by restaurants, stores, and the beach.

People talk loudly and slam doors (no reminders posted for quiet hours). I asked for a room change because upon checkin I specifically asked for a quiet location and the room next door was awfully loud. The front desk guy was rude! He repeatedly stated it wasn’t the hotels fault if people are loud. What he should’ve said was no problem, we will take care of it. He did move my room but his attitude needs a lot of work. Otherwise the breakfast was mediocre and not restocked quickly enough.

Breakfast was excellent, many options to choose from and everything was fresh and delicious. Also the breakfast schedule was long, particularly on the weekends.

The room lacked drawers in the night stand, bathroom vanity and office desk. There was no tissue paper in the room and the cleanliness was not up to our standards, there were some flaws and we detected some weird smell which couldn't pin point exactly where it came from. Also, there should be some improvements done in the shower floor; one of our friends we were traveling with failed inside the shower because it gets too slippery when you use hair conditioner, she was hurt for about 1 day and fortunately there were no further consequences. We noticed the floor got very slippery too and were very careful so we wouldn't fall.

good location in Bocagrande, only a short ride to the city center or getsemani. amazing rooftop area with pool, bar and gym. overall a great stay.

room could have been cleaner, there was a lot of dirt on the floor. also the bathroom was too small.

I liked how clean it was and housekeeping everyday , I also liked the security guard knew who I was and always made sure to help me get a taxi or get out of a taxi . front desk was super nice . I liked the pool service I got also . their gym is nice and clean

it was clean and the beds were comfortable. the breakfast was good. although the service was a bit slow.

some stuff members were rude but some are very nice. I have to wait for my phone to get replace 2 days and come downstairs to ask them to do it. no tv for 3 days and I ask for a hair dryer that came on the last days.

The hotel was great and smelled really good all the lobby and rooms. Super clean! Nice view and great breakfast menu. Recommended if you want to be centrally located in Bocagrande.

We know is an express hotel, but they should offer at least room service until 11pm, so people arriving late can at least order to the room.

The staff was very courteous and helpful. Housekeeping came everyday and gave me fresh towels and room amenities. Rooftop pool and restaurant. Free breakfasts.

I'm single I would like have the flexibility of how many guest I can cater to whether it's pandemic or not. I know hotels have policies in place but sometimes I'd like for others to see the service companies I support offer.
