Hotel Equatorial Shanghai

The location is fantastic. In the centre of Shanghai downtown, within easy reach to metro line 2, 7 and 14, even line 1. We booked Equatorial Room; the room has been upgraded with modern furnishing. There is amber space in the room for us to put two of our big luggages.

Bathroom is rather small and cramp. The water pressure is super high, but the shower head is not working in flavour of the high pressure. The wall is paper thin, you can basically hear everything from next door - door closing, loud chit-chating, water running in the bathroom....

This hotel is located in the best part of Shanghai (as someone who previously worked in Shanghai for several years) — walking distance to both the Jing'an and Xuhui districts. There are many hotels in the area but this is one of the best value. Hotel was very accommodating to my request for a quiet room on a higher floor. Front desk, concierge, and cleaning staff all kind and helpful.

The building and some amenities like the bath and gym are a bit dated, but that's probably why it's as good value as it is. WiFi was generally quite stable, but didn't work very well one night (out of 6) for video calls.

The location is centric enough to get to The Bund and other attractions easily and quickly (via metro or taxi). The staff was friendly and spoke English very well. The room was clean and comfortable enough. There’s a convenience store right next door and a temple within walking distance. They have an optional breakfast buffet which has yummy Chinese food and also western options but the Chinese options are the best. They offer other tourist services which we didn’t try but it was nice to know for our next trip. I definitely recommend this hotel for couples and families.

We recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The location was excellent, with easy access to everything. The staff members were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that all our needs were met throughout my stay. The highlight, however, was the food. The hotel's restaurant served absolutely amazing dishes. The variety, quality, and flavors of the meals were outstanding. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel for its fantastic location, exceptional staff, and unforgettable dining experience.

I encountered a minor issue with the air conditioning system. Although the overall experience was pleasant, the AC in my room seemed to struggle in maintaining a consistent temperature. It didn't seem to cool the room adequately. While it didn't significantly impact my stay, I believe that improving the functionality of the AC units would enhance the overall comfort for guests.

Hotel Equatorial has always been my first choice when coming to Shanghai. The location is super convenient. It is right by Jing an Temple and have 3 metro lines that can take you anywhere. Exit 12 from Jingan temple takes you directly to the hotel that you don’t even need to walk outside if it’s rainy or too cold! The hotel staff has always been super friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone no matter staying for work or leisure !

Decent swimming pool and never too packed. Not sure if the room is insulated with sound proof materials but it’s super quite all day long

Big old stain on the carpet. I have a package delivered to concierge but they claimed never got it. Two days later they gave it back to me, but it’s fruit so it was all rotten already. Same incident almost happened one more time, one staff denied getting my package until his coworker searched their mail room.

Lovely, modern and well kept hotel in a superb location moments from the metro. Got upgraded for free to a suite which was excellent - spacious, with great views and an enormous bathroom!

The air conditioning wasn’t working properly - most wouldn’t have an issue with this (the room was about 22 degrees) but I like to sleep in a cool room! Another small drawback is if you need to hang around, there’s very little seating in the lobby.

I could not fault this hotel. The staff were great and most could speak good enough English to communicate. The beds were super comfortable, room service food was so good. Mr biggest problem was I did a injury to my knee so couldn't get out to see the sights but I couldn't have asked for a better hotel to rest up in. Keep up the great work. I will return.

The location is next to the subway which is very convenient and the breakfast has also European options. The room are spacious and the staff speaks English very well.

I was here for a business trip and the gym is only open from 8am to 8pm,not very convenient if you are here for work.

Check in and check out, very simple. Summer Wang dealt with us on both. We've been coming here for many years now so that would tell it's own story.

The bar closes a little early, maybe another hour would be good.
