Matildas Hotel Boutique

The staff are very friendly and willing to help out with anything they can, including arranging airport transfers. The breakfast was a buffet with a good variety and excellent coffee. The rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable.

The road at the front is very noisy due to traffic. We had to move rooms because of this, however you can still hear noise from some bars or restaurants on the back, playing music until late into the evening (it might be a nearby karaoke bar but not entirely sure). Earplugs could just about block it out though so I recommend taking some in case you are a light sleeper.

I have appreciated the architecture and atmosphere of this hotel as opposed to the "boring" international hotels. The room was nice, clean and large, as well as the bathroom. The personnel very friendly and helpful. The location is very interesting and liveful with plenty of bars and restaurants just around the corner at walking distance.

I did not expect the weather to be so cold in this period and often needed to use the air conditioner as heating system. I like soft boiled eggs, that are quite easy to prepare and not only the available scrambled and fried eggs.

The team members were very welcoming and did all they could to answer queries and to make our stay comfortable, easy and enjoyable. They even posted our postcards for us after we left as time ran out on us. The hotel is a truly beautiful period house. The team has retained as much of its original charm and beauty as possible and they are clearly creating a special place. There is also a pleasant garden at the rear with mature trees. Breakfast, which is good, is taken in a room on the ground floor or in the garden. There is a lounge with a good selection of books. The hotel is near public transport links and there are good local restaurants within walking distance. It is not far from the airport. The area - Brasil - is in the process of being regenerated after some years so it is still a mix of the old and the new which may not suit some people.

There is no lift. We understand fully why the team decided not to add a lift to this period property and there is a lift for your luggage. However, those with mobility issues should note that there is no lift for people and that guests must use the (gorgeous) staircase.

The hotel is in a beautiful building, lovely high ceilings, period features and is well presented throughout. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, not too much choice but essentials covered. The staff were really nice and helpful. The location was perfect for us, a nice walk into town and close to Metro stations. Also, the area was quite ‘hip’ with lots of street art and only 5 blocks away from where the current President of Chile is living!

Our room faced out onto the road which was a little noisy especially in the early morning during the rush! The location is not that central to the main parts of the city (E.g. Bella Vista, Italia, Santa Lucía, etc) although there were some bars/restaurants around the corner on Av. Brazil.

Gracious old building, tastefully & modernly decorated. Amazing garden. The staff were wonderful - starting with welcome beverage and taking our luggage upstairs to the room ahead of us. Great location to downtown to ie. Just 25 minute walk to Museum of Natural History and Museum of Human Rights THE BEST & most delicious vegan breakfast of all our stays in Chile!! They even pack breakfast to go if you are leaving early. Quiet neighborhood, yet just a block.away from eateries. We stayed at Matilda's on two separate occasions. Its a tranquil respite from busy Santiago.

Excellent breakfast and support from the front desk people, all who were very professional. I really enjoyed staying in an old hotel in Santiago which was constructed the year my mother was born 1912.

The only thing I am unuse to is walking up three flights of stairs. As a senior, it could be difficult but turned out to be fine. Also, there was no small frig in the room to keep water and drinks cool, but that was acceptable too. We are somewhat spoiled in the USA with hotels which offer everything except the historical significance of a property like the Matildas Boutique Hotel in Santiago. IF I ever get back to Santiago I would not hesitate to visit your lovely hotel once again.

Javiera and the staff on reception were always friendly, helpful and enthusiastic which made our stay so much more enjoyable. The hotel has been beautifully restored and provides a tranquil oasis when you return from the hot and busy city, including a shady garden and cool reading room. It is in a good area of the city with lots of bars and restaurants close by if you don't want to venture far at night. The breakfast is great with lots of choice and eggs cooked to order.

We stayed for 4 days and everything was perfect. We didn't want to leave.

I could not fault it in any way. I think it is a pity that they do not have a lift, but I am sure that will be rectified in due course. The owner was charming and helpful and friendly. We could not have been treated better. I would recommend it to anyone.

The television did not work, though that did not matter for us, but it would have been nice. And as I have said it would have been nice to have had a lift, especially with heavy luggage, though a strong man turned up and carried our cases up stairs. I am sure that they will rectify this - also the breakfast needs attention. It really was not very good. This was a pity, but I think they can work on that if they are told. We asked for a poached egg and that seemed too difficult for the cook! The coffee and tea were not very nice at all. But as everything else was very nice it did not matter much.

amazing amazing staff! had some issues during the check in but they were very gracious on making sure everything works out for me which I totally appreciated! I also like the old historic look/feel of the building. Breakfast was nice. also pretty close to plaza de armas, only about 10-15 min walk and lots of restaurants to eat around and convenient stores. They also provide free water during your whole stay! ☺️

I just wish the lights doesn’t turn off late at night in the main hallways, or maybe have motion detectors on them.

This place is such a little gem! Gorgeous old, historic building. Macarena, the manager, is the loveliest person and has great recommendations. You can lounge in the peaceful back garden with a glass of wine and book, the precious little terrace, or enjoy the beautiful indoors rooms.

This didn’t cause us any problems but the property isn’t on a cute, charming street full of cafés etc. Though it’d be impossible to say location is bad bc it’s very central and walking distance to a lot of things.
