Fairmont Hotel Macdonald

- The heritage building is beautifully preserved, in keeping with its original charm whilst not looking outdated. - The in room dining food could be made with more care BUT the lady who served it named Christina is PHENOMENAL and was quick to make right any issues I had. Having Christina come fo the door brought such a smile to my face and to my daughter, to whom she brought some delicious chocolate covered strawberries. Please recognize Christina for her kindness and gentle spirit. She is a GEM and you’re very fortunate to have her on your team. - The pool is AMAZING with its ambient music, colour changing lights and WARM, clean water. This hotel pool far exceeds any I’ve been to. I want to give a very special thank you to the pool attendant whose name escapes me, but she is a very lovely young lady who gifted my daughter something very special, which is deeply appreciated. - The location is perfect for strolling the river side or downtown, with everything you need within walking distance - The communication throughout our stay was exceptional, with the option to make requests via text message.

The television remote in room 500 was slow and glitchy but that’s our only real complaint and it’s minor. I’m sure a change of batteries would have done the trick :)

The service personable, professional and efficient.. The , decor of the newly renovated lounge is great! Freshened up with still maintaining its charm. . Our meals delicious. The smoke charcuterie board amazing . The experience of the Hotel Mac is and always lovely. I will continue to dine, lunch and occasionally stay in years to come.

Our room was showing slight wear and tear, but hardly mentionable, ie; one nightstand table top finish is worn off and glass missing. I can't wait to be in one of the renovated rooms next time. I had trouble with the pillows being uncomfortable however, I had absolutely no trouble with a previous stay. So it could just be me.

Staff . The brunch was very good and the attention we had from the chef in regard to allergies was very much appreciated. The longe was vey accommodating in allowing our family to be together at numerous times throughout the whole weekend. The whole staff from dining room to lounge and valets were exceptional. Thanks to all of them. It allowed our family from Chicago, Victoria and Alberta to celebrate Easter together.

Room need ed a little car . Bathroom paint trim and fix wall paper under the sink. Clean under TV, bar , clothes storage cabinet.

We had nice view, staff upgraded us for free at this charming old property and staff were lovely. It was close to the venue we attended. The room was larger than typical rooms at Fairmonts. our room was quiet.

No real lobby or place to sit besides the drink lounge. The decor and furniture is old and tired but the bed was comfortable. There were no magazines in the room that typical hotels provide for tourists to find info about the city. Location was not near any shopping although it was close to the venue we attended for a talk.

For a weekend getaway with our little daughter, it was really good! The Fairmont Gold experience is worth the comfort and the concierges are really pleasant people. Just hanging in the garden, sauna or in the pool was our thing. The summer view of the Saskatchewan river valley is gorgeous. The staff is truly concerned about food allergies and intolerances! Hotel is close to several good restaurants.

White noise. I had to ask for another bedroom because of some annoying, never-ending machine humming coming from the outside. Hotels like Fairmont need more cautious about white noise because it ruins the experience. This part of Edmonton is getting run-down fast with drug addicts and sketchy people.

Gorgeous room and view. Nice bathroom and extremely comfortable bed. The thing that stood out was the patio restaurant, was lovely weather and the atmosphere of restaurant was amazing - there is lights, stunning flowers, sunset views and cute tables which overall has a European vibe. They were still seating people after 10 which I was impressed by.

Access to the property is extremely hard. You virtually can’t drive in unless you’re coming from the east side of the hotel heading west. We struggled so much, we did valet parking without question, just so we didn’t get stuck on the wrong side of the hotel. Wifi is not complimentary.

The Hotel MacDonald is an iconic hotel and we really enjoyed our stay! The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the pool and spa facilities. The food at the restaurant was very good, although quite expensive. The patio area by the restaurant was also very nice for taking photos, going for a stroll, or viewing the downtown Edmonton skyline and the river. The water pressure was extreme in the shower!

Parking at the hotel is $40 per day and they use Diamond Parking. Bathroom in the room could use an update to make it more luxurious.

Food was excellent! The fitness facility was impressive. The staff was very polite.

Would have liked some hot cider when we returned after walking in the cold but at 4:30, the carafe was empty. Also when we got up to our room, it hadn’t been cleaned. The maid came to ask us what we needed but as it was going on 5:00, we just wanted privacy.

Amazing riverside view, how close a lot of places of interest were, with a great and spacious room.

Complete and personal nitpick, the outdated and outright confusing TV. After a day i got it to work of course but I was expecting something more average and modern version to what I got. Besides that one nitpick, everything was great.

The staff were amazing, from the valet staff to the servers in the bar/restaurant, to the room attendant. They made our stay!

The facility is starting to show its age, needs a general clean-up and an update.
