Itz'ana Resort & Residences

Itzana is a brand new hotel, and this is heavily felt in more ways than one. As such, the place is spotless and every minor detail has been carefully thought out and positioned at the exact right place. It seems the surrounding and overall peaceful sensation that echoes within the resort is almost too good to be true - but it isn't. From endless palm trees to an infinity pool that will have you diving all day, there's little to say about this dreamy resort that will grant its scenery justice. The rooms are huge, in tip-top shape, the flat-screen TV has streaming networks installed and the bathroom is big enough to make a 1-bedroom NY apartment blush. The balcony with the poolside view has an outdoor queen-sized bed installed, outlooking a few trees, granting the illusion of privacy yet without compromising the sense of proximity to the beach. Winston, Dean, and Pedro were absolutely amazing and I simply cannot wait to return to this piece of paradise.

The only downside, I would say, is that some of the staff members on board are not in sync with what one might expect from a 5-star resort, in terms of code of behavior and ethics. I was placed in an uncomfortable situation when one of the restaurant employees hustled me into paying more than I should have when bargaining with a beach seller, then asked me to purchase more items. Rest assured, this was a one-time case with a specific employee, the management was made aware of this incident and I was told it would be handled. Also, the location is far from the village (center of Placencia) - you need a cab (10USD each way) or car to get around.

The beach and pool are wonderful; this resort is designed for guests to relax on the property. We had tours scheduled, so we didn't get to spend as much time relaxing on-site as we had hoped, but the facilities were great. The breakfasts were delicious; I really liked the granola/yogurt combination. The continental breakfast was included in our room price (it made up about half the breakfast menu), the other half of the menu looked really good, but it's not included, so you'll have to pay separately for it.

The location of Itz'ana isn't walking distance from anything else, but it's a great place to relax on the beach or at the pool, and the service is fantastic. This area of the Placencia peninsula is dominated by resorts, so there's not a lot to go see in the immediate area. When you want to go elsewhere, the Itz'ana has a free shuttle that you can arrange to go to other locations for dinner or exploring Placencia.

Itzana just had their grand opening a few months ago, and it was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at thus far. We booked a regular room overlooking the pool and it was beautifully designed and quite spacious. The staff was excellent and checked up on us when we were at the pool and brought us water without us even asking. The hotel is a bit further from the main area but we were able to rent golf carts from the hotel and also take taxis with ease. Whatever we needed, Itzana would arrange for us. We truly felt well taken care of. The restaurant Liminia (on hotel grounds) has delicious food! We ate there for breakfast and a few dinners. They even have a pool bar which served appetizers, pizza and amazing cocktails. Definitely stay here if you’re in Placencia!

This property was beautiful. The room we booked was under construction when we got there, so we got upgraded to a huge suite which was pretty amazing. Gorgeous dunk pool on the balcony with view of the beach. We enjoyed the restaurant and the cocktails.

It's a bit isolated in location from the town. Not terrible, just worth noting. Also, the internet in our building was down the entire stay - they eventually got us a hotspot, but it was slow and not ideal.

The property was simply spectacular: a beautiful location, very spacious and luxurious accommodation and spaces. The lobbies, bars, restaurant and patios were beautifully decorated and have a great feel about them. The service was impeccable and fast and the staff is very nice and extremely helpful. It is quite close to downtown Placencia (about a 10-15 mins drive) where you can find a lot of cool cafes, bars and restaurants.

The Wi-Fi was quite spotty and didn’t work in the room

Everything! Heavenly infinity pool located beach side. Stylish beautiful decor throughout. Bar, restaurant, patio, poolside - all communal areas lovely to spend time in. Excellent level of service from all staff. Food just delicious! High end stay but still good value all things considered. Caribbean sea metres away, included use of SUP, kayaks, bikes. Even a library and shop on site!

Only that we didn't stay longer!

Something I didn’t see advertised that I really liked was that the pool is clean fresh water with no detectable trace of chlorine! Very pleasant to be in and makes you not want to get out. Another cool thing is they will give you a golf cart to ride around town. Awesome complimentary breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Their beach was very nice but go beyond their property line and there is a lot of trash washed up on the beach. Nothing against the resort but sad to see nonetheless.

Front office manager so welcoming. We received a welcome drink at the bar , friendly bartender. Housekeeper checked to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Staff members had time to talk to you. Good choice of indoor or outdoor dining, concierge service available, nice pool bar, lovely very large, clean pool, well kept landscaping. Right on the beach

Everything was amazing.

Everything about this hotel was perfect- from start to finish. I got lucky and chose 5 nights when I practically had the entire property to myself- and perfect weather in October on top of that. The staff were absolutely wonderful and the grounds are gorgeous. Only sad thing was seeing the immense amount of washed up ocean plastic on the beach just off property. The staff were gracious about letting me collect some and recycle it. Don’t miss this spot, it’s a little slice of heaven.

The hotel is so beautiful, decorated with taste. Everything is beautiful, clean and well-maintained. The infinite pool is amazing, with a pizza bar everyday ! The staff is amazing, so nice and help-full. We are vegan and the chef cooked us special vegan meals, the food was delicious ! We had an amazing stay and will definitely come back!
