Yarra Valley Grand Hotel

Such a beautiful establishment! I fell in love with the place as soon as I entered the property! The staff were wonderful and very helpful.

Cob webs on the inside of the windows in our room (perhaps a reflection of the "old" rustic Charm of the property....) and the incredibly loud noise that woke us on our first morning, which was possibly coming from the pipes when a neighbouring room was showering. The hot water was also a bit touch and go when showering.This may very well be expected for such an old property (circa. 1888), however, having this fixed to provide comfort to future guests may be a great consideration 😀 Other than this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Great Location. Fantastic staff. Well stocked and equipped kitchen. Great space for a large family. Nice to have books and board games / cards etc. Good supply of pool towels. Kids loved the pool! Plenty of sheets and pillows. Comfy sofas. Very clean property.

Some maintenance needed on property - some door handles loose / broken. Some light bulbs in lamps / ceiling lights need replacing. Pool was cold but it is technically early spring in Victoria so cant complain! Mattresses on beds felt like they could do with an upgrade.

Absolutely stunning Victorian building this place oozes old Victorian times with some amazing features..kid friendly the managers house was also very nice! Staff from the cleaners, bar, waiters,kitchen and the management Absolutely amazing couldn't do enough for you 👏 Food is excellent but be prepared to wait..you won't be disappointed!! if your looking for a NO fuss/fancy/high end place to stay then definitely check this place out.

The mosquito's but totally understand as they did just have floods.. One thing that would be nice is maybe some nice fresh smelling flowers in the rooms I'd definitely pay for the beautiful flowers you have in Yarra Valley since we come from FNQ we don't have all the beautiful ponies roses jasmine etc absolutely gorgeous ❤️ oh maybe the beds could be alittle more comfy like a topper on top of the mattress

The staff were very friendly indeed and there was a lot of attention to detail from all of them. We were most impressed by the friendly manager who came and checked on us without being intrusive. The room was lovely and very unique and full of character. I would make a point of requesting that room again in future.

If anything was just a fraction lacking, it was that the bed was a bit saggy. The furnishings higher up in the tower suite might be improved upon a little to take advantage of the great character of the tower. But this is really nit-picking because I feel I have to write something otherwise the little progress bar under this review will stay red :-)

The bed was extremely comfortable and the staff were fantastic and went over and above helping us and making us feel welcome and continental breakfast was what we expected. The lunchtime Roast Pork was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it.

The only slight problem was not the hotels fault more our age and the stairs not good with hubby's bad joints but again the staff helped with our luggage and made us feel it wasn't a problem for them for which I am extremely grateful. thankyou again.

Breakfast was what I expected for a continental breakfast but the brewed coffee was a bonus. The manager on duty on the morning of Friday 28 April was a good send. He really helped me out in a very stressful situation as a Marriage Celebrant due to officiate a Wedding later that day.

I didn't like that I wasn't going to be able to come back, sit around for a bit, have a few drinks, maybe a meal and ready test the ambience of this old girl.

It had a private outdoor swimming pool! if only we’d known, we would have brought our bathers. It also has a wood fire, which would be great for colder times. Quality coffee bags and lovely shortbread biscuits. We were also given a complimentary breakfast, which we did not expect.

Checking in was problematic. The rooms were not ready at 2 pm so we had to wait 15 minutes. This was the only issue - everything else was great.

1. I like the period style of the hotel. 2. The staff was nice. 3. Location was Central to town.

1. The bed was not comfortable. 2. The sheets were hard and itchy - maybe from over bleaching. 3. Only one shampoo and conditioner for 2 nights stay and two guests. For 2 people there should be two shampoos and conditioners and replaced everyday. It was not replaced by room service the next day. Yes. I could have called reception for more shampoo and conditioner. I only realised it was not replaced at 10pm at night when I got back to my room and I was exhausted from 7hrs hiking. Attention to details is key to hotel business.

Breakfast was average, needed to take an early start as long drive ahead and wanted to arrive in Sydney before dark, breakfast could have been earlier and I would have loved the option of a hot breakfast.

Hot water in shower changed from comfortable to scolding hot to cold multiple times. Possibly due to someone showering in the bathroom next door at the same time. This would have been dangerous for small children. This problem was reported to staff in reception. Otherwise it was a lovely stop over.

This is an historic property and our room's proportions reflected this. The room was large with a large bathroom and a high bed. The room was clean with all we needed and the free bed socks were a delight ( we have never had bonus bed socks before!). The breakfast which is included in the price was more than your average continental breakfast and all the staff we encountered were fantastic. This is an old building with old building noises, but that is it's charm and we would love to stay there again.

Nothing, we had no issues with this property.
