This is a gem of a hotel in the most marvellous location for wandering around Melbourne. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, giving lots of hints about close places to go. I was on crutches so they made some fantastic suggestions within 10-20 meters (yes you read that correctly!) of the front door. They also put on free drinks in the lobby bar from 6-7, which was a great bonus. The rooms are gorgeous. Decorated so chic and tastefully, and really comfy beds. Don't expect a view from the rooms here because of the location - it's right in the middle of town surrounded by other buildings, but you're not here to look out the window. You're here to enjoy Melbourne. 100m up the road is the Princess Theatre, and 100m down the road is Her Majesty's Theatre. 200m down the road and you are smack in the middle of town. Great wine bar next door, Punch Lane, and a fabulous Asian fusion restaurant right around the corner, Gingerboy. Can highly recommend both. It's also really close to some of Melbournes most iconic fine dining restaurants and cocktail bars.

Lancemore is a chain that I grew very fond of, particularly because of a hotel in Sydney called Larmont (which, regrettably, is now closed). Their focus is on small boutique properties that offer great comfort and style at an affordable price and with customer satisfaction in mind. The Crossley St. property is precisely this: great staff, nice room, cool equipment, and definitely a very pleasant style and environment. The bed is very comfortable, and the room spacious enough. As usual, you have a Bose speaker and a bit TV with AppleTV in the room, though I noticed that there is no Nespresso machine anymore (this had changed also in Sydney in recent times). The bathroom is fairly spacious and modern, with a nice rain shower (and lovely toiletries). The staff is always nice, and the same goes in this property. Loved the fact that in the elevators there is an art installation (looping video) which was pretty cool and unique.

Not much space to work in the room. There is no proper desk to work from, only a small round table and no chair, which makes it rather uncomfortable. This is a pity, as the Sydney property (Larmont) was instead perfect from this point of view.

Amazing find in great location. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, and the quality linen and luxurious pillow meant I slept better than I have in years! My husband is very fussy about accommodation, especially the cleanliness and he couldn’t fault this place. Staff were friendly and helpful and the happy hour was a thoughtful touch. Will definitely return again on our next visit to Melbourne. I only fear that future accommodation won’t measure up.

The location was teriffic - it was on the side of the city I wanted to stay on for proximity to the sporting precinct but had the added benefit of being close to some amazing restaurants, theatre district and closer to Fitzroy where I also like to spend time. The room felt like home - Bose speakers, Apple TV and a nice space to generally be in.

Some of the rooms don't have the best outlook, but nor do many in Melbourne. That said, it was still light-filled and with some stylish sheers to compensate.

The hotel was beautiful, beds were super comfy if a bit of the small side, staff were lovely and they let us borrow a phone charger. The mini bar is reasonably priced as long as you avoid the fancy wine.

The rooftop closes at 11pm, which was disappointing since it was New Year’s Eve and they didn’t apply for an extended liquor licence. They could have had a roof top party for guests and I’m sure it would have been popular as despite them saying we wouldn’t see fire works, I think we would have at least had a good vibe gathering.

Excellent location in a boutique hotel close to fantastic restaurants, cafes and bars, trams and strolling distance to explore Chinatown, laneways and heart of the city. Room and bed were exceptionally comfy and staff were welcoming and helpful with recommendations. Happy hour drinks were an unexpected bonus.

There wasn't anything in particular, when we had a small issue with dust the staff sorted it out straight away. Dropping off our hire car turned into a bit of a nightmare but that had absolutely nothing to do with the hotel, just a struggle to find a petrol station and then the hire care location in the CBD and navigate different road regulations.

I stayed in the Lancemore Design King Room for 5 nights. I would recommend and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future. Friendly staff. Good size room with comfortable bed. Nice having a drink on the rooftop (order via a QR code). Overall great location for exploring Melbourne. Recommend: Walk to the Queen Vic Market and grab some fresh fruit and a borek from the Borek Shop (spicy sweet potato is delicious). Cannot go wrong searching for dumpling in China Town along Little Bourke Street. Great pastries (try the blueberry danish) from Bakemono Bakers just off Little Lonsdale Street (give yourself 10-15 minutes extra for the line). The Lancemore staff made a great coffee, but also consider checking out East-West Coffee Roasters at QV and Traveler Coffee (around the corner on Crossley Street).

Skip the stretch room and ask for a visitor pass to the Fitness First at QV. I still haven't come around to rain showers, but this is a personal preference.
