Beacon Point Ocean View Villas

Location, views, outdoor deck.

My bedsheet looked like it had been cleaned, but there was still a big stain in it, not very pleasant. Also, we did not expect to be asked to do a certain amount of housework (eg, cleaning and drying dishes) before we leave or have money deducted from our depisit. This was not flagged before we arrived. Nobody wants this responsibility when on holiday, and it was not a requirement at any other apartment type property we stayed at on our holiday. Also, we found squares of a chocolate bar between the cushions on the couch, which should have been noticed by the cleaners before we arrived.

This property is in a stunning location, high on a hill and surrounded by woodland. The drive to get up to it is partly on a dirt road but even in an ordinary saloon car. it was easy enough in dry weather. The property was very comfortable and well-equipped but it's really all about the view down to and along the coast. We had an excellent meal at the restaurant next door (Chris's), watched by a koala, which was definitely a highlight.

We had a little trouble checking in as I was unable to contact the reception on my UK mobile (this happened several times during our trip) but an email soon sorted the problem.

We stayed in the 'East' villas for four nights - with a good deck and views over the ocean. The unit was well appointed and included a washing machine (very useful when you are spend a lot of time 'on the road'; clothes line on the deck as well). Fridge was a good size for an extended stay and there were sufficient pots, pans, etc. Bedroom was a good size with plenty of built-in wardrobe space. A bbq was provided on the deck but it was one of those 'fussy' Weber Q's which aren't big enough and difficult to clean - a bbq with just a hotplate would probably be better for both guests and the staff...

We really didn't like the oven/cooktop - it really needed a proper clean (which we certainly weren't going to do). There were 'greasy' edges particularly on the oven. And, it was really dangerous - the gas igniter only worked sometimes and so quantities of gas were released while trying to light the rotten thing. We noticed later that there were matches under the sink, but there is no way I can imagine using a match to light the burner at the back of the oven. Advice to owners - don't clean the oven, replace it.

The view was fantastic. We loved the balcony and the birds visiting each morning. Entry was easy and seamless. the villa was very clean. The clothes line and drying rack were very helpful and appreciated.

There were no paper towels and/or napkins in the kitchen. That would have been nice. There are no hooks or towel rods in the bathroom. Made hanging up a towel to dry after showering a challenge. The washing machine had to be manually moved from wash to rinse (on the dial) to finish the cycle. It would not complete it on its own. No laundry soap. Providing a washer is fantastic, but in my case, traveling from overseas, I could not bring it with me. So I had to buy a large bottle of soap to wash two loads of laundry. We got a little confused on the map finding our East unit.

The location was great. The ocean view was gorgeous. It was nice to have the little wood fire (well supplied with wood). It was very peaceful. The owners were lovely to communicate with and very prompt with replies.

The bed was too small. The shower head was very sensitive and poor pressure. Although this did not affect our stay at all, the area in the bathroom around the washing machine was dirty. It simply just needs more attention to detail.

We were lucky enough to have the unit located on the lower terrace with uninterrupted views over Skene's Creek....The unit had everything required for an extended stay, although we only stayed one night. The BBQ and outdoor chairs made it easy to enjoy the great weather. The unit was very spacious and well equiped.

Although there was more than enough room for all vehicles, a couple of other guests parked in the turning area so numbered parking would be an improvement.

The view was amazing, the fire place was perfect and we loved how peaceful it was. It had everything you need in the room. And each day they topped up the wood 😊

It's about 8 kms out of the centre of apollo Bay on a windy road. We didn't mind too much though, as we just planned our day out in advance. But if you want to be going in and out of town various times a day, this may annoy you.

View is good. Park at door was convenient but still bushland feel. Totally unlike roadside asphalt motel. Tranquil. Birdlife. To walk to neighbouring Chris's restaurant, take path to tennis court, follow road down 100m to 10 steps down to parallel road, U turn 80m. $35 for continental buffet breakfast. More good views, but towards Apollo Bay at the restaurant. Unit had lots of space. Kitchen has all we needed. Dated but only paid $225/night. So all in all good value for a unique experience. Memorable feel of bushland and coastal view. Watching waves is mesmorising.

Chose BH for washing machine plus view. Got our washing done OK but it was a bit uncertain at one stage. There is low water pressure I suspect. The washer was not progressing to spray rinse. Was paused long time. Opened and closed lid and it then continued on OK to completion. Stayed in last room of East wing.

The property always pleases. Location, peace and quiet, tranquility.

All was good but I would suggest that staff check a few things such as Check for blown light bulbs (lounge area and bedside lights in particular) The fireplace is not working properly (instructions would also be helpful) A double adapter would be better than draping the extension cord across the floor to run the fan on the heater Check that there are actually matches in the matchbox to light fire Include newspaper etc to use in setting fire fore under kindling And both pepper and salt grinders did not work

The view was great from the top looking down onto the water and all the vegetation, as the property was higher up off the main road. Also the fact that there was an upmarket restaurant a few metres beneath the Beaconpoint Ocean Villas was appreciated by us.

The booking was more or less contactless, and I only spoke to the manager to ask if I could park my car elsewhere on the property, which was ok. The car parking spot in front of our unit was difficult to back into as there were wooden logs on each side to indicate the beginning and end of the adjacent units. After that parking was no problem.
