Shantara Resort Port Douglas - Adults Only Retreat

The pool access from the balcony was to die for, the ambience of the pool at night time is unmissable. Given the weather is often rainy, the pool temp is quite comfortable even when raining or sunny. The rooms are spacious even for the studio, and the bed is freaking massive. The bathroom shower is huge and great water pressure, plenty of towels provided and good shower essentials. Quiet fun resort, lovely staff, honestly very lovely. They also helped us enable our engagement proposal without a hitch,l when the weather stopped us from our beach plans, it was fantastic.

The pool area could use a clean up due to the gardens, just gets a little dirty. The balconies could use a shade umbrella as well for relaxing during sunny days. The bin area is downstairs and very hot to take rubbish down into but no big deal if you get housekeeping. I think maybe a decent coffee machine in the lobby couldn't hurt either given its a adults resort, but overall great stay.

Perfect location, short walk to main shopping and restaurant area and 4 mile beach. We had a room which took us straight out to the stunning pool area. The pool was heated to a perfect temperature. The king sized bed was comfortable. Easy access to laundry facilities. Barbeque facilities. Clean well kept resort. No children.

No food or beverage facilities. Love a cocktail by the pool, but this option wasn't available. Room was a bit tight with the king sized bed. But neither of these are necessarily negatives, we had a lovely stay regardless, just something to be aware of.

The resort was well maintained with beautiful gardens and in a great location, with a few minutes walk to the main street of Port Douglas and Four Mile Beach. My partner and I had a studio room and loved how it opened out to our own decking and the shared pool, making for easy access. The room had all facilities needed for a comfortable stay, including air conditioning and fan as well as a washing machine and dryer just outside our door. The room was very clean and comfortable. Overall we had an enjoyable 5 night stay and did not want to leave!

It had lovely pools, perfectly heated, not too hot, and enough lounges in sun or shade. Lovely decor and very clean rooms. Delightful staff.

The small studio rooms are very small and not really enough room for 2 people to stay in for several nights. Only enough space for one person to put their clothes away(just), the other had to leave it in suitcase. Bathrooms a bit dated but shower was very good and pretty good value for the price overall

We loved the relaxed quiet atmosphere. As a teacher, I relished the peace and lack of children. Other guests friendly but not intrusive. The place is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff are so friendly, without being intrusive and very obliging when asked questions and advice on the local area.

There really is nothing that we didn't like. At a real push, the decor isn't ultra modern but still perfectly agreeable and comfortable. The semi opaque panels in the bathroom doors are a bit strange but as a couple, it really wasn't an issue for us.

the property was quiet and clean and good location

we didn’t like the adults with the blow up floating chairs and playing ball in the pool. we had both at a family resort which we hated so we didn’t expect adults to be doing kids stuff. the floaters took over the pool and we actually only used the pools once because of this which was a shame

The location of the resort was great and not too far away from the main street, you could easily walk if you wanted to. The room was accessible and clean with a pool view. It was quiet and had A/C and a fan which was good to have the choice. The manager was very friendly and helpful, the car park was free, and it is a great base for a stay in Port Douglas especially if you are going to be eating out and not cooking for yourself.

Liked the adults only and balcony view of pool. Bed very comfortable good size shower. Good quality glass ware and crockery. Having umbrella very useful. Location was good, an easy walk to Restaurants and shops.

For $600.00 per night thought there could have been a few more added extras perhaps drinks and nibbles such as wine or port or even complementary breakfast that we have had at other accommodation.some quality coffee and a wider variety of tea, herbal, peppermint etc. There was a small trip hazard out side our room (12) which cought both of us a couple of times as it is very hard to see in the tiles.

The pools were awesome. I loved the location as it was so close to everything within walking distance. The room was lovely. The resort was lovely and peaceful and always kept clean. I loved the gardens.

I didn't like that reception didn't inform us of the road and barge closure going to the Daintree/Cape Tribulation area. It would have been helpful to know.

Everything!! Fantastic place to stay. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean and had everything you need. Refreshing pool which was even better with no kids yelling and splashing. Liz on the front desk was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble, even disposing of empty seafood platters for us. People like Liz with a sense of humour really added to our stay. Will be back for sure.
