Darwin Poinciana Inn

Firstly you need to know this is an older motel style of accommodation. If you're looking for the Hilton this is not it, but, its clean, it is well maintained, the managers and cleaners do a cracking job. The towels are changed regularly, as is the bedding. There is a fridge and TV in each room but no cooking facilities. The hotel also has a nice pool and BBQ area. Air-conditioning was A+. Its in a cracking location on Smith Street so close to everything. Bars, Mindil Beach, Cullen Bay, Darwin Waterfront etc

It is an older property so rooms do look a bit older, but showers work well, toilets are clean and flush, and you have everything you need for a great stay!

The hotel is in a very good location on the edge of the CBD and with access to buses, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. We stayed here twice, the second time in a renovated room which was much nicer than the original single night in a basic room. Security is reasonably good and there is secure parking for cars inside the hotel grounds. There is a small pool and I think a barbecue. Hairdryers are available from reception if needed. Our room had a table and ( bonus ) two chairs rather than the usual one only. At about one quarter of the cost compared to the Travelodge it represents excellent value for money for a stay in Darwin especially during the high season.

We stayed in the standard double room. The room was spacious with good basic amenities provided. It is safe and secure in the inn; a key tag is required to access the front door afterhours. There is also safe onsite parking provided behind the inn or in the empty parking lot beside it. The inn is very conveniently located in the cbd to the main streets and attractions. The Wifi also works very well.

The lift was the worst part of the stay. It was old and slow and I was never sure if it was going up or down. I used the stairs majority of the time. Because the inn is near the main street where the party happens, you may be noisy and loud at night.

Superb location, just next to the car rental office, so after we returned the car just a short stroll back. The decent size of the swimming pool, really enjoyed it on the hot afternoon. Very spacious room and practical shower room. Plenty of car parks behind the motel with locked gates.

Well, for a budget motel/inn, you get what you pay, so we didn’t expect anything luxury. The lift is old-school but still works. The only thing I can complain about might be the noise from the street in small hours. Then again, when you enjoy a CBD location you may have to tolerate it. I can hear the alarms from our neighbors too. Again might be my issue as I don’t get deep sleep on a strange bed.

Loved the location which was excellent. Check in was so easy even though I arrived after 1.00am - instructions were easy to follow for self check-in. Room was clean with an air conditioner and it was cleaned beautifully every other day which was great to come home to. Managers were very friendly and obliging so I loved my time here. Location is fantastic, very central, close to everything and great for all city exploring I had a great experience at this motel and would highly recommend it.

Close to everything in Darwin. Rooms kept clean. Good security. Helpful staff. Rooms were tired but comfortable, bed was large and comfortable.

This is a 3 star Hotel. All facilities are old and dated. It's not the Ritz!! This is budget accommodation and in need of updating BUT it's cheap and handy.

Clean good value for money. Managers are helpful nothing is too much. happy friendly environment wonderful place to stay.

Nice swimming pool, my room was clean and I had everything in there that I’ve acquired. When I first arrived I did not have a microwave company owners within 10 minutes they bought a microwave to my room. The cleaners they were very helpful and a couple of occasions help me bring some stuff up to my room. I didn’t bring a charger for the wall and the owners were quick to find me one.

We booked Darwin Poinciana Inn based on previous reviews and were not disappointed during our 3 night stay. The central location in Darwin was perfect for our needs and the room was clean, comfortable and exceptional value for Darwin. The friendly management even offered us a choice of rooms when we checked in.

It was a little dated but if we really wanted a 5 star hotel experience we would have been required to pay 3-4 times more!

I booked for the Darwin Festival and motel was super close to all events and quite close to buses (free for Seniors). Staff were friendly and very helpful - locating an armchair for me (with a bad back) as I was there for quite a long time (extending my stay beyond the original booking.

Unfortunately, as Darwin went into a 3-day lockdown while I was there, the pool area was very busy and noisy, with a mostly young clientele. Also very close to a noisy backpackers.
