Residence Inn by Marriott Charlottesville Downtown

The room was spacious, very clean, well appointed with a kitchen that provided essentials. Location was fabulous, close to the downtown. Staff were professional and their manager was super fair. We had an AC leak in the bathroom and he compensated us very fairly, even though we didn’t request compensation. Very commendable. And a great way to get guests to return.

I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and travel extensively. I was disappointed with the breakfast hour ending at 9 a.m. It clearly indicates that Marriott is trying to save some money at the expense of clients loyalty. This is not good and I would request management to look into this. We are at your hotel on vacation, which means taking life a little more leisurely.

When I checked out I needed some eye drops and the person at the counter gave them to me at no cost. The staff was friendly and pleasant and that made everything a positive experience overall.

Needed to take notes from phone call but there was nothing to write with or on in the room. I had to dig through my suitcases to find something. Restaurant was closed. I was there for knee replacement surgery and looked for a hotel that had a Restaurant so when it was closed I was not only disappointed but had to walk on my bad knees to get dinner.

Very clean on arrival, very accommodating front desk and staff. Buffet was free with the room, was varied and better than average. Very friendly, secure building. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. We had a great stay there!

We stayed 3 nights, yet they don't provide clean towels every day, they give you one tiny soap and one tiny shampoo and don't provide additional each day. Most folks don't pack soap or shampoo on purpose. Indoor pool is very, very small.

there was big knives stored in the bottom drawer and my 1 year old opened it and pulled out the biggest one. I was right beside him, but it would have been bad if I wasn’t! that wasn’t very safe.

Nice clean facility using appropriate COVID-19 safeguards.  Parking garage had ample room and was well lit. Comfortable bed and pillows. Convenient location. Furnishings were well appointed and the kitchen setup was appreciated with dishes, pots and pans, etc.

The bathroom design led to some challenges. A few comments on the bathroom design in this room:  the light & fan switches are difficult to locate in the dark plus the floor tiles are slippery when wet.  Our room was an accessible room and should have considered the impact of these poorly designed features.  It would be very helpful to provide conveniently located USB ports for charging mobile devices.  The shades were powered, but no instructions were in the room or told to us at the front desk. We tried to manually close them and thought they were broke. The breakfast was heavy on sugary and carbohydrates, lacking in quality protein. Low on the value scale.

Excellent location! Hotel is located in the middle of walking distance of downtown restaurants/bars and University square. Staff was incredibly friendly. Rooms are big, spacious and very clean (we were in a King studio). Our expectations were exceeded!

Clean. Very convenient to the downtown mall. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good Breakfast.

I wish it was less expensive

Breakfast was good and staff was friendly.

The pull out bed was not pleasant and I do wish some complementary water bottles would have been given to the guest.

Staff were great! We had a couple special requests that they handled, no problem. The room was very clean and had all the basic kitchen necessities already stocked (pots, dishware, etc). We had our dog with us and they gave us a room at the end of the hall and a tag to hang on the door when she was in the room so that staff would not go in.

Beds are super firm, which is probably great for some but takes getting used to. Location can be a bit noisy, as expected with being downtown, but the nights were surprisingly quiet. We were only on the second floor, so higher floors are probably quieter. Because of COVID precautions, breakfast was only prepackaged items, not the usual hot breakfast. But it was a nice selection of juices, cereals, muffins, etc, that you could take back to the room or eat on-the-go.

they put is first in there worst room very dark and pigeons on the outside at the sill room 709 after we complaint we got the room we booked. But not ok to do this !! some dutch complain )))
