Best location to meet our friends at Moonlight Beach (just some steps away) and to explore North County. The shops and restaurants in Downtown Encinitas are around the corner - too many good options :-)! We discovered our favourite breakfast place on the 101 and had dinner and a bonfire at the beach. Our room was quite large (incl. two nice, big armchairs near the glass front to the balcony) and nicely decorated, everything was sparkling clean, the beds were comfy, the staff very friendly, and we loved the (partial) ocean view. If you like hiking: It is just half an hour to Elfin Forest or Iron Mountain. Legoland is around the corner, and it is also under an hour drive to San Diego Zoo's Safari Park. We had rented a car, but it is easy and fun to explore Encinitas and the neighboring communities on foot or by bicycle. Everything is connected by walkways. Moonlight Beach Motel was perfect for us - we loved it and are looking forward to staying there again!

Everything was fine.

The motel is located two streets from the beach. However, if you want a nice view of the ocean you need to be on the third (top) floor. We had requested that floor and they called us to make sure that is what we wanted and gave it to us. The room was quite large and had a mini fridge and a microwave. We were told to ask for trash removal and towels but there were enough towels in the room and a trash can at the end of the corridor so we did not need anything. We got extra glasses and coffee as needed from the office. Enough onsite parking was a big plus. Very friendly staff.

The location was fantastic. I loved that we could see the ocean from our balcony, and Moonlight beach was only two blocks away. We were also close to a great coffee shop, where we had our morning coffee every day. The place was clean and beds were very comfortable.

My only criticism was that there wasn't a closet for hanging up clothes and only two small drawers for storage. We were dropped off by our airport ride after the office had closed, and we had a hard time finding the stairs to our room, given that the office is in the front and the stairs are around back.

Only two blocks from the beach with a balcony and view of Moonlight Beach State Park and all the goings on there. We rented the deluxe double with balcony which had a full size fridge and updated bath facilities. The beds were really comfortable and we were treated to wine, chocolates, and sunscreen! They have complimentary beach chairs, kids toys, umbrellas, and boogie boards. Lots of shops in the neighborhood. In the heart of the action. It is not a hotel. It is a motel. But it was really cool and fun to stay there.

No pool, still waiting for the $250 deposit to be refunded.

Great location, at walking distance from the beach. Even partial ocean view from my room. Basic but spacious room. Sliding doors opening to the balcony! I hate hotelrooms with windows that can't open; I'm a fresh-air freak :-)

Programmed power cut during my last night, not the hotel's fault but San Diego Gas & Electric's. Power was supposed to be back at 6am but still not restored when I left at 6.15am. No hot water available either due to the power outage :-(

We've stayed at the Moonlight on and off for many years. We love the proximity to the beach and downtown Encinitas. The view was partial, but good. Staff were responsive to requests.

Very pricey! Our room was over the ice machine and hose, and was very noisy. Given the high dollar being charged these days, it would be good to post guidelines for people using those facilities.

Location a couple blocks from Moonlight State Beach was great. Encinitas is a charming town and there are lots of cute shops and cafes, The motel had large rooms with a full size refrigerator and freezer, apt sized stove, and was outfitted for cooking. The street is residential and quiet. Parking was super easy. We'll be back when we need a convenient location in North San Diego County.

Love this location. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms remodeled, bathrooms were super nice and clean. Been here 5 or 6 times now. Love every one of our stays.

Someone found out about this little gem of a motel and raised the rent. They did remodel however. Ice machine was broken and someone opened our door early one morning.

We loved the location close to the beach as well as walking distance to great restaurants and shops. The rooms appeared recently upgraded and were clean and comfortable. The balcony facing the ocean was lovely and you could hear the waves. We appreciated the mini-fridge and microwave as well as the coffee maker. I also appreciated the beach toys and supplies available for use.

Recent renovations did not include the exterior so when you initially pull up, it does not look like a nice place - overlook that and very quickly the interior of the rooms and friendly accommodating staff will put you at ease about the quality and value of this property.

The location is the big draw here. It honestly could not be better! Walk to Moonlight Beach. Parking! The staff are friendly and helpful.

The one ice machine was broken; customers were directed to a nearby 7-Eleven for ice. The rooms are stocked with regular coffee (K-cups) only. The office has decaf if you ask for it.
