Best Western Plus Oaklands Hotel

The room was clean and spacious. Helpful staff. Food was great, nice portions and great taste. Nice bar too. The ambiance for outdoor dining was truly great. I’ll remember this stay fondly. Minutes of walk away from the beautiful riverside and an amazing restaurants. And a comfortable walk away from Sainsbury’s.

I arrived on a Saturday and apparently on Saturday’s they have celebrations and I am usually not bothered too much by the music but after a hectic travel day I could have used peace and quiet. If you’re going to arrive after a hectic travel, don’t choose Saturdays in summer.

We were staying at the hotel for a friends wedding at the venue and the staff were really helpful, the room was comfortable and while breakfast was not included in our room price it was really really good. The food prepared for the wedding was also excellent. The area is very pretty.

Our room was pretty small. Water pressure in the shower was low. Some of the bar staff might need a little additional training. Nothing major, I'd asked if they had any stouts and the young bartender said no, but we found out later they did in fact have Guinness. Areas of the hotel are a little rough around the edges.

The suite with its balcony was great and it was lovely to have a bit more space as I was staying for a few days. The weather was really hot during my stay and the room.had a fan and lots of windows to let the air circulate. The restaurant was great, lovely menu and staff and I had two good meals there. Overall very happy with my stay and would definitely choose to stay here again.

There was nothing that I didn't like and my only suggestion for improvement would be to add a mini fridge in the suite as this would be helpful for people staying a few days.

it was our wedding and the staff couldn’t be more helpful!!! I can’t thank everyone enough for how wonderful they where. from start to finish. I can’t remember the ladies name but she served my bridal party on the eve of my wedding. on the 20th of April my name is Ali. this lady had dark black hair tied back. she was beyond amazing. even when I had a mal function with my wedding dress!!!! and the lovely bottle of Prosecco and card was such a beautiful touch. thank you so so much. We also had a wedding spokesman. I want to say his name was Malcom he was incredible. a massive massive thank you to you all. For making our wedding the dream day that it was!!!

Changed rooms to a lodge as no lift and couldn’t cope with stairs as was on second floor,the lodge was lovely ,light clean,with nice views of the garden,would definitely stay in a lodge again.

Had to ask for orange juice and other things,all that was offered was cooked breakfast,stayed in best western in Lichfield the day before had an excellent breakfast,with attentive service, definitely not attentive service here.Bar was a bit soulless a few comfy sofa to relax would be nice Bar itself very attractive.

The location is nice and quiet. The restaurant is very good and quite reasonably priced. The staff are lovely, very accommodating and friendly. The suites in particular are very nice and comfortable.

I stayed in a few of their rooms. I found that the rooms inside the main hotel are small, the stairs are irritating and there was an odd smell. That part of the building seems to be old so it does seem this cant be helped. I would recommend staying in the suites or the annex to avoid this.

The reception staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful, great with kids. The room was a good size and clean, with comfortable bed. Generally the facilities were as to be expected for the star rating, and represented good value. The location was brilliant.

The breakfast was not great; the menu sounded lovely with good options, but suggested locally sourced, quality ingredients, however the bacon and eggs were disappointing and tasted much like they had been sat on a buffet bar for a long period despite me expecting a made to order breakfast (especially given that there were only 3 other guests sat down for breakfast for the duration of our time in the restaurant). The shower was difficult to get to a good temperature.

The room was clean and had a lovely layout. We love the restaurant and bar its amazing value for money and the food is immense! The staff are always helpful.

The room we were in seemed to be above a speaker or something from the restaurant so we could constantly hear music so the first night wasn't amazing but the second night we had booked the DJ and dinner option so wasn't such a big issue.

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times when visiting Norwich and will continue to use this hotel as we visit Norwich. It is a good location on the outskirts of the city which is about a 20 - 30 minute walk into the city with some good pubs on route with beer gardens at the side of river. The hotel is very clean with spacious rooms. It has a good bar and the cooked breakfast is as good fantastic! There is also good parking.

Nothing to complain about.

Friendly staff on reception and in the restaurant, parking on site at no extra cost, large comfortable bed and large bath towels, lovely restaurant and bar area leading to large outdoor decking, delicious food - had an evening meal on day of arrival and breakfast on the day we left. Breakfast cooked to order, not a buffet, so could order exactly what you wanted and served to your table. Lots to see and do in Norwich - including castle, cathedral, market and theatre. We saw a comedy show at the Norwich Playhouse on the Saturday night. Definitely recommend and will book again.

It was a little further from the town centre that we had realised. Fine walking into town during the day in the sunshine took about 40 mins, but seemed a lot longer walking back in the dark. We would know for next time to book a taxi in advance as discovered at 10pm that taxis were all booked for the evening, there were no late buses and no Ubers in Norwich! No lift in the hotel and we were on the top floor right at the end of the corridor - not a problem for us, but may have been for others who have difficulty with stairs - on the plus side being at the top at the far end, the room was quiet.
