The Feathers Hotel

The reception staff were welcoming, this is very important as it sets the mood for the entire stay at the Feathers hotel Ludlow. The restaurant staff were attentive and polite and helpful. The hotel has over the years become drab, perhaps flowers or more colour would brighten the interior, just a personal viewpoint. I enjoyed my stay in Ludlow.

The breakfast was not as good as some hotels. The bacon was very salty and the sliced bread was not good, cheap bread, also the tomatoes were tasteless and again poor quality. Coffee was good and also the rest of the buffet breakfast. The price did not reflect the quality of food for such a feature hotel, especially as Ludlow is renowned for its excellent farm produce and food festivals.

The room & ensuite, furnishings, comfort & room refreshments including fresh coffee & tea & soft drinks in fridge. Large screen TV. The Character. The cleanliness. Fantastic location with 2 for 1 cocktails in bar & a lovely restaurant.

View of the car park & the sound of the generator, although it wasn't bad. The ironing board & fan in the wardrobe gave no room for hanging, especially dresses.

Great location for the food festival and town. Exceptional bathroom and very comfortable bed and sofa bed. Car park was great after we were able to get in as the hotel was full. The member of staff at check out 10.20 am Sunday was most polite and efficient.

Things that could have made the stay even better at a premium cost hotel of well over £500 pounds for two nights would be a book/folder about the hotel in the room including times of meals and facilities. ( I’m aware these may be on the website )No pen and paper in the room .No phone in the room to contact the front desk although not a problem to walk down. No do not disturb/clean the room sign to put on the door when required. The room , a King Suite was advertised to have bathrobes and slippers but none around . The previous guest had left a shirt in the main dresser drawer with a bill receipt. Had to wait a little at check in at 7pm Friday as no one on the front desk but we made a member of bar staff aware and there was a response.

Thoroughly enjoyed my 5 night stay for the inaugural Ludlow Piano Festival. Staff and food were excellent. Full English breakfast cooked to order was just right. Pleasantly surprised at how quiet my room was at night given that it overlooked the main street. The secondary double glazing was very effective at keeping any noise out - thus disproving the myth that it's impossible to fit double glazing in a Listed Building! And Ludlow is one of the most beautiful British towns I have ever seen!

Replenishment of the tea tray in my room was erratic. No biscuits on it at all when I arrived and for the first four days. Then some appeared on my last day. Similarly no black tea bags for a few days, though plenty of redbush ones. Very minor issue really though.

I liked the location of the hotel near all the shops. its quite close to the church, castle and market its a ten minute walk if that. There is a fabulous cooked meat shop as you walk to the market serving hot pork or beef batches not too expensive and very tasty. The hotel was comfortable with plenty of seating to enjoy an evening drink. We were situated on the first floor at the back of the hotel so was really quiet at night.

Having to pay ten pound to park. breakfast was fifteen pound more expense on top of everything else Money is automatically taken from your account in case of damages and takes a few days to be refunded. Never had this before

A lovely historic building which had been sympathetically renovated and upgraded in an ideal location for exploring Ludlow. Our room was nicely furnished and decorated, spacious, comfortable and clean. The food was superb and the staff were all extremely friendly, personable and helpful. We had an excellent stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Feathers.

Just a minor observation, but given how absolutely fantastic the food was, with high quality, fresh ingredients superbly cooked, the one and only slight disappointment was the cheap, bog-standard sliced bread at breakfast, and a limited choice of fresh fruit.

I loved it all! The location was convenient and on site parking a bonus. My room was very spacious with a balcony. A large comfortable bed, plenty of power points and USB points conveniently situated. Large wardrobe and mini fridge with canned water and real glasses. There was a hairdryer, fan, iron and ironing board and a well stocked tea tray with kettle. Lovely bedding and towels and a large bathroom with a great shower. The public rooms were delightful, the meals (I had dinner and breakfast) exceptional and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. All in all the best one night stay I have had for a long time. Thank you.

The parking bays were a little bit tight, but absolutely fine for the convenience of being able to park in Ludlow at such a reasonable cost.

Great stay, the twin beds were very comfortable for a one night stay. We asked for extra pillows which wasn't a problem at all. We parked in the library in the end as the parking looked tight. We were able to pay for parking for the following morning after 6pm which was a good tip from the staff rather than rushing to put more time on at 8am. There was a fan in the room which was great and some "real" coffee so we were able to enjoy a coffee before heading out to breakfast. The near by Kin Kitchen was fabulous for breakfast, would definitely recommend. We did look at the menu for dinner in the restaurant, however it sounded fussy and a bit over priced. We went to the Blue Boar for dinner which had a great atmosphere and friendly staff. If you go on a Tuesday some places are not serving food just to be aware. We would definitely stay here again, once parked it's a fantastic location to walk everywhere with a beautiful lobby and bar area in the Hotel.

The room was clean but a little dusty, I could see a film of dust on the top of the kettle and black lamp. Luckily I had antihistamines with me as I get a cough from dust. The shower was clean, but not very powerful... Would have been a struggle to wash my long hair in it. Perfect for one night though.

Excellent location in the middle of Ludlow. This hotel has friendly and very helpful staff , well trained and happy to offer assistance. We had a deluxe room ( recommend ) which was reasonably spacious and had a beautiful bathroom . I think the ordinary rooms can be rather small. We met friends who also stayed there and had dinner in the hotel 2 out of 4 nights . Good food . Breakfast main was quite good

Fresh fruit salad for breakfast turned out to be a dish of unprepared fruit. This made for a messy breakfast - peeling oranges and apples and hoping there were bananas ( not always) . When we queried the Fresh fruit salad on the menu we were told the bowl of fruit was it . Not really up to standard . It’s a small thing to put right and improve breakfast

Fabulous location easy parking. Staff were friendly and very helpful . Room were modern and well presented , plenty of USB ports if needed too . Also dog friendly which is a bonus for us although we didn't have the dog on this occasion.

The fact we paid for our room in full before stay , but they then held another 40 pounds from card on arrival in case we used facilities which then takes 3-5 days to be put back in account, when we didn't owe anything at end of stay .
