Inn on the Lake by Innkeeper's Collection

This is a lovely hotel with good sized rooms. The location is good but a bit too far to walk into Godalming with small children. The breakfast was nice and well presented. Lots of tea and coffee and juice. Some cereals would have been a nice added bonus. Lovely ladies serving breakfast in the morning - thankyou!

When we arrived at 8.13pm the man told us that he was only going to save our room until 8.15pm and that I had not responded to an email requesting an arrival time. I have double checked and never received one. The hotel information said that check-in was up until 10pm! Also the drains in the bathroom smelt quite bad throughout the stay. I wondered if the trap was missing from the shower?

Room excellent, very comfortable and a good location for easy access and parking for our classic car and walking into the town

Very slow service at dinner the night we arrived and meal not as appetising (eg. dried up looking bowl of peas) as expected for price. Offered and requested dessert menu but after 15 minutes no one came to take order so left. It seemed, as so often elsewhere currently, there was a staff shortage. In the morning we prefer a continental breakfast but not as much on offer as even a Premier Inn . . Therefore we walked into town and found Gails Bakery for lovely breakfasts and Cotes for our evening meals. A pity as the menu looked good on the website!

The location and cleanliness of the property were first class. Morning breakfast was a highlight. The staff were awesome, going out of their way to make our stay memorable.

Be careful if you stay on a special occasion. We unknowingly booked our stay on Father's Day, which meant the restaurant only had FD specials. There are plenty of options in the town, though. We also stayed on one of the hottest weekends of the year, and our room was naturally warm to start with and no air conditioning except for a very small rotating fan. Again, we dealt with it via cold showers. Would be sensational mid winter....

The room felt clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice - lovely shower and spacious actually as the room wasn't particularly big , it was a standard one

It's only a personal thing I realise but I found the room very dark - it was due to its natural position probably but it had been decorated in exceptionally dark colours - walls and curtains so to me it felt a bit gloomy. However it did feel all newly done and did not really spoil our stay as it was only 2 nights. The only other thing was I would have liked to have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast but this was not available - it would have been good to have more choice instead of having to stick to a set menu.

Loved the atmosphere and the food!! The food is amazing! I will keep dreaming of the prawn starter and would also recommend the Nourish plate, but the entire group enjoyed their meals a lot. Breakfast is also great, really filling. The rooms are beautiful and modern, even though it's an old building. Some rooms feel like they're at the other end of a small country while walking through the hallways, it's a very scattered layout due to the age of the building, but adds to the flair. The staff is really friendly, and again special thanks to the chefs.

The family rooms (huge) have sofa beds. These aren't very comfortable, so if you have the choice go for a twin or double. All rooms are a good size and the proper beds are amazing and new. The meeting room is nice but gets a lot of noise from the very busy (because excellent) restaurant from about 11 through the open fireplace and the thin separating doors, so that's a point to consider when booking for a work meeting.

Great to have the choice of eating breakfast either indoors in the well-appointed restaurant area or alfresco outdoors in the sun. Very pleasant lounge and restaurant and bar areas on the ground floor. Quiet, good-sized rooms with good furnishings. Helpful and friendly staff

Breakfast is made to order, rather than self-service buffet. It is good when it comes, but it is necessary to go to the bar to order and then service can be quite slow when the kitchen is busy. It worked well for us, as we had time to spare, but it would not be great for someone in a hurry.

THE STAFF WERE VERY WELCOMING AND ATTENTIVE, UPON OUR ARRIVAL AND THROUGHOUT OUR STAY. MY DAUGHTER AND I ENJOYED DINNER, BY A FIRE, IN THE EXTENSIVE RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE AREA. THE ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE AND WELL EQUIPPED. BREAKFAST WAS RELAXED AND ENJOYABLE. THERE WERE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT PLACES TO SIT IN THE SPACIOUS LOUNGE, WITH PLEASANT VIEWS OF THE SURROUNDING AREA. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PUBS AND SHOPS AROUND GODALMING HIGH STREET WHICH ARE WITHIN EASY WALKING DISTANCE, TOGETHER WITH THE STATION.

THE COOKED BREAKFAST PREPARATION ON THE SUNDAY WAS NOT AS GOOD AS ON THE PREVIOUS DAY.

Both rooms were comfortably equipped and we both enjoyed an excellent fillet steak dinner, and full English breakfast the following morning.

Although there were ample tea bags, coffee sachets, and milk carton in each room, there was no bottled water. Fortunately I found this out before arrival, and supplied my own. The lack of a complementary bottle of water in each room is my only criticism of our stay at the hotel. In all other respects, the hotel fully met our expectations, and we would happily visit again in the future.

The staff were welcoming and friendly and the restaurant food catered for all appetites.

Whilst my room (# 22) was comfortable, the entrance to the bathroom was difficult to navigate - hotel should consider re-hanging door other way or have a sliding door instead. The bottle bank was emptied or added to at 6am which created noise like thunder; I thought this was an unnecessary activity at that time of the morning.

The location is beautiful and the lounging areas and outdoor areas in garden are so relaxing . Second stay here. The staff are helpful and friendly . Well organised breakfast and ensuite rooms are cozy .

Some room lighting could be better around the dressing table area. The shower tray overflowed in a long shower but think this would be easily solved..
