Avon Causeway Hotel

Great location for visiting Mudeford and Hengitsbury Head, as well as the airport. They were able to accommodate our party of 13 for a 50th birthday party after another venue cancelled. Food was excellent. We found the staff a bit unfriendly to start with but they were actually very accommodating in the end and even arranged a takeaway breakfast for one of the children in our party as well as breakfast for the dog! Everyone enjoyed their stay.

Our room was good and spotlessly clean but looked as if the refurbishment was unfinished as there was a large crack running down the wall that needed filling in. It seemed odd to leave it like that!

The staff were all really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is extremely dog-friendly, even supplying breakfast for our 2 dogs! Water bowl provided in the room. The room and public areas were perfectly clean, the bed was huge, and comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were generous in portion and very tasty. It stands within the New Forest, and is very handy for the many benefits of the area. Would definitely stay again.

The bathroom was quite small, and shower a bit cramped. It was hot and powerful, in its favour. The road beside which the hotel stands, is very busy and noisy. It did quieten down later however.

Emergency number missing from room folder. We had no milk on Sunday when the pub closed early. Although we rang the bell downstairs, left an online message and called the number on the notepad in the room we couldn't contact a staff member. We were glad it was only the milk missing and not that we were locked out of our room or a real emergency situation. It would be helpful to have a contact number visible downstairs.

Swift check-in and -out. Well refurbished and maintained building. Neat, modern bedroom and bathroom. Excellent location for Bournemouth airport.

Not being a dog-person, the large number of dogs in the hotel entrance and dining area was not a plus point with me, particularly with barking outside my room while the owners loudly fussed over the creature. Returning to the hotel after a long difficult day I nearly stepped on a pair of big dogs which were sprawled across the floor leading to the entrance of the hotel rooms - and was treated to glares by their owners.

Our 2nd stay at this lovely hotel. The team are super friendly and helpful, attentive to detail and ensured that we enjoyed our 2 night stay as nothing seemed to be too much trouble. This hotel has a great relaxing atmosphere, meals are delicious with friendly service and most important for us is that they really are dog friendly. We especially love the special touches of a flask of fresh milk, cafetière coffee & biscuits in the room and the luxury Bramley toiletries which smell amazing. The room I stayed is was compact but comfortable. Lovely and clean with a great shower and the toiletries supplied were quality. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the evening meal was lovely, a bit limited on choice but it was mid week. The breakfast choice was good and plentiful.

Only a personal choice but I think they have started to use a different supplier for their bacon which is now streaky rather than back and the bread can be a bit hard when toasted - sourdough bread. Other people may like this but as stated personal choice although it would not stop me from staying again in the future.

Had an overnight stay here and could not fault them. Room and bed were spacious, comfortable and very clean. Lovely welcome by staff, flask of milk on arrival for for tea and coffe in room which also had a small jar of shortbread on tray too. I was most grateful for the fan which was in in the room. After a very long warm dog walk it was ideal. Staff were great with our dog, provided treats in the room together with sausage and black pudding for breakfast!! Both the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. The hotel is situated quite close to the road but we couldn't hear traffic and opposite hotel is a woodland walk for the dog. Will definitely be returning.

Nothing I could fault

The rooms were clean and had everything in them to make our visit very comfortable. The room was cleaned, replenished, and freshened every day. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We had 3 dogs with us, and they were given a breakfast of sausage black pudding and toast every morning, which was a lovely touch

We found the bar very expensive. For example, a glass of wine was over £10 and a pint of beer over £5 which we thought was excessive. The food was lovely but we felt again was a bit pricey.

We booked a very last minute room and were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. When we were handed the key we were also given a flask of fresh milk for the room. We booked a family room and everything in the room was excellent. Fantastic facilities and we didn’t need to ask for anything. A very comfortable nights stay and breakfast the next day was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for our hungry tummies. We will 100% return!

Apart from some settlement cracks in the room - which can’t be helped - everything was excellent. No complaints.

It was all perfect, the staff are amazing, wish i knew the name of the lady who runs the hotel, so professional and amazing with every individual person. Its the first time i have been there, i would again in a heart beat. The food, the room we stayed in were just perfect, every little detail catered fo. The price for a i night stay including breakfast was so afordable. The little touches in the room for example, the tea and coffee, biscuits explaining what the were and the recipe hand writen, shampoo conditione. I could go on. Its the best place i have stayed in. So thankyou to the manager such a hard working lady she is just so amazing Xxxc
