The location is great and we really enjoyed going on a couple of walks in the area, for which the manager gave us a map for. The food was fabulous and we could hardly decide which breakfast to have since they all sounded tasty. Between us we tried three different breakfast meals, all stupendous. We'll definitely be back again.

The TV never did get reception while we were there, but not a big problem since we didn't go there to watch a screen. But we were told upon arrival that this was an issue in progress, along with some additional work to be completed in the bathroom. But it wasn't a real problem for us anyway.

Amazing food and great service from the lovely staff. Everything was well organised. The room was perfect for us with two young children having a separated room for them and there was a little play area at the rear of the pub. Very comfy beds, peaceful night thanks to the quiet location. Food was amazing, best breakfast ever! Kids well catered for and staff couldn't do enough for us.

Guests probably need to be aware there is no phone signal but these days it doesn't matter with WiFi phone calls etc. It didn't affect us. Some minor issues with the age of the pub, we had no hot water one evening but it was quickly rectified and didn't cause any problems.

Eight of us travelled to Staffordshire from Essex with some trepidation into keeping a 4 year old entertained plus 2 boys of 11 and 13.We needn't have worried, there was a play area for the youngest plus a hill for everyone to climb after our meal.We enjoyed our meal in the lovely garden surrounded by beautiful countryside, the meal by the way was excellent. The pub had organized a live music event the night we stayed which everyone enjoyed.

i can't think of anything that the staff could have done to make our stay any better.Although the TV didn't receive freeview netflix was available in all 3 rooms we booked so i can't really complain about that

It's a lovely place and the people who took it over four months ago are hard working, welcoming and very helpful. There were excellent beers and the evenings meals were really nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good too although I couldn't manage a full English because of the evening meal. The room was very comfortable as was the bed.

I would never criticise people who are doing their best to make a go. As other people observed there is an issue with the timed landing and a couple of minor issues which certainly didn't detract from a lovely overnight stay in a beautiful ountrysidd

A fabulous place to stay about 20 minutes drive from Alton Towers. We enjoyed a very warm and kind welcome. The team are all so lovely, our youngest was 16 on the morning that we left and they sang her happy birthday and gave her a lovely cupcake. We enjoyed a very tasty and generous evening meal in the pub, followed by a lovely breakfast in the morning. The quadruple room is huge, you enter a large kingsize room and through a door and down a couple of steps is a good sized twin room, the bathroom is off that. Beds are comfy, we slept very well. The views around are beautiful. There is plenty of parking.

we went to Alton towers and travelled 3 hours to get there so we decided to stay over somewhere and I’m so pleased we stayed here. the atmosphere was so warming and our room was so cosy. they had just got new beds and it was the best nights sleep I had had in ages. the pillows were like clouds. we were hungry when we got back so we ordered food and they accommodated for my fussy 8 year old, they didn’t do a kids menu, but were more than happy to make him a small pizza with chips so he was happy with that. The woman who owned it kept making sure everything was okay she was lovely. we will be returning in the future when we visit Alton towers again. :-)

this is just to be fussy, as I can’t fault the place at all especially with the standard of care we received but the drinks were a little pricey. but like I say this was the only thing I can comment on throughout the time we stayed everything was lovely

Room was nice with a great view. Staff were very attentive and friendly both at evening meal and breakfast the following morning. Plenty of parking. Food was excellent. Soft towels and great bedding on the most comfortable bed.

TV in room didn't have the normal channels, only You Tube, Netflix etc, which seemed to be signed in by other people. Could do with tea, coffee and sugar being in individual separate packets for hygiene reasons. Ensuite could do with being updated as shower door didn't close properly and had mold. Also water didn't run down drains quick enough, seemed blocked.

Beds are ridiculously comfortable with amazing bedding. The towels and the shower were really top notch. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, no problem on a vegetarian full English either. Huge portions and plenty of tea and toast Staff were very friendly and helpful

We booked for a Monday night stay and on arrival after a long day at Alton Towers we were told the kitchen was closed on Mondays. With 2 starving kids we needed somewhere. The staff directed us to a Steakhouse down the road but it was fully booked so we kept going and found somewhere 3rd time lucky. Would have been nice to have known beforehand. On arrival back to the Okeover Arms after dinner, another set of travellers appeared to be getting their dinner there so we were confused as to how they got served and we did not. The super cute dog in the bar area in the evening ended up not being so super cute at 11pm as it barked relentlessly upstairs but once I informed the staff, they immediately sorted it as they couldn’t hear said dog.

We have stayed here several times and as always, we enjoyed our visit. The major change since our last stay, is that the pub has new owners, Dhiren and Vickie. Although the pub wasn't fully up and running, they accommodated us very well and made us feel extremely welcome. The room was comfortable, with amazing views and we were informed that in time, the accommodation will all be refurbished. The full English breakfast was excellent but we cannot comment on the bar meals as they were unavailable during our stay. Dhiren and Vickie clearly have big ideas for this place and we can't wait to see the changes on our next visit. We wish them every success, they certainly deserve it!

Staff were very friendly, great beer garden, breakfast very nice and plenty of it. I liked the little touches like fresh water in rooms, full size mugs and offer of fresh milk. The bar and restaurant were very nice, clean and welcoming . 20 min drive to Alton towers.

The bathroom was a bit tired looking, grout/silicon in shower was black in places. I found dirty tissues behind bedside table when using plug. Tv in room didn’t work, no signal but worked on room next door. ( which we also had within our group) this being said I would stay again and have confidence it would be improved going by standards downstairs I think owners were still to get to bedrooms.
