Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel

Check in staff very amiable, efficient and courteous - highly professional. Including the security checks at the gate, lobby and then front desk. Large, beautifully stately hotel. Decor in rooms a bit dated but also classically solid. In-room robes, fruit platter, and slippers - all complimentary for our room. Serena has its own special charm and this Dar es Salaam didn't fail. Centrally located in the corp / banking district with many good restaurants in walking distance and very safe. So, it's better as a family short stay or business hotel given its location. Overall, still a quality establishment I'd return to.

In-room beverages could be better stocked and topped up regularly.

Liked the decor as always. Also loved the piano being played live in the lobby. The building I'd a bit old having seen its days through being swissotel then being movenpick then Serena. So the lifts are old and the carpets not the freshest but it has N old world charm which I'd nice if you like such things and disappointing if you are looking fie a more modern take on contemporary luxury.

The coffee. God. Tanzania has great coffee. But the breakfast brew was a watered down rag soup.

The location was most convenient as it was literally a short walk to where I was conducting my business. Breakfast and meals in general were superb, and the bar was on point. The rooms are spacious.

The bathrooms are so dated, especially the toilets and the bathtubs. In this day and age, to be using shower curtains was disappointing, and I hope these will be updated sooner than later.

This hotel has a spectacularly beautiful lobby. The room was a good size and impeccably clean. The breakfast buffet was impressive and our dinner at the Jahazi restaurant was superb. The staff could not have been more helpful with arranging our rapid Covid test on the last day. Thank you Jonas! The treatment with Juliette at the Maisha SPA was excellent.

On Sunday, there is a brunch at the hotel and with the life music it gets very noisy in the garden and around the pool area. The bathrooms could do with a good walk-in shower rather than an old-fashioned bath tub.

Very friendly staff who can go extra mile to provide comfort and ease for the guests Breakfast was awesome with so much variety and chef’s specials in the seafoods were brilliant We had dinner and tried seafood platter which was out of world. Recommendations to anyone staying there “do not miss seafood in Serena!” Spa & Massage was great and therapeutic

The breakfast was exceptional. Wide variety and good quality food. We ate dinner at Jihazi and the chili crab was amazing. The staff were helpful and we asked for connecting rooms and they obliged.

The bed was the only thing we didnt like. The bed is old and we felt the springs of the bed. Please buy new beds as the property is so well maintained and despite the shower is in the bathtub and outdated it was a pleasant shower. No complaints apart from the bed.

They have a great swimming pool

The centralized AC, I guess needs some maintenance. it was set to the minimum but the room temperature wasn't all that cold. especially at night, it was quite hot.

Very friendly staff, room service 24/7 which was good for us because we had an early wake up for a safari trip. The breakfast was very good!

The bathroom was quite dated, but still very clean.

the rooms and the property are old and have an old feel. need to be upgraded and refurbished. Also took a room in the Executive Floor only to find the Executive lounge being a big disappointment.

Good location for the first visit. Pool and gym are nice. Staffs were helpful. Quite Good breakfast too

Room design are bit too old style. The old carpets make the room smell a little. Same floor can get a bad cigarette smell. The standing Shower was in the tub. The bed and pillow are a bit too old too
