Dorsett Singapore

Basically a hidden gem in front of your eyes. I lived in SG for 10+ yrs, and passed by Outram Park MRT on daily basis for work but never evaluated Dorsett back then. While visiting for work for leisure now I decided to give it a shot. I was not wrong. Its location is sublime. You reach everywhere fast as the hotel is literally above 3 MRT lines. I could be in CBD within minutes, likewise Vivo, Sentosa, Orchard was convenient to reach, even airport. Believe you me, if you have not much time in Singapore and lots to do, the location is everything. Dorsett has it.

Can't remember anything i did not like...

Bed is comfortable as usual. Overall Dorsett has always been our first choice for staycation ever since we started to stay here. It is valued for returning customers and they will treat you like a VIP. They are very well prepared.

It feels as if room 824 is haunted. We visit Dorsett often but this is the first time me and my spouse had this eerie feeling and she even heard a deep sigh near her ear. Could be her being too tired but at night we both heard steppings on the 9th floor above us. We constantly hear water opening and flushes as well and this has never happened before during our previous stays here. Doesn't feel anything evil but definitely feels that something is there.

Since I need to be close to Singapore General Hospital, Dorsett is the nearest and the best. It's a walking distance, and there's a covered pathway from the hotel to the hospital, so even if it's raining, you can walk even without an umbrella. It has a direct access to the subway station, which makes going around the city very easy. It's also very near China town where there are cafes and restaurants, from different cultures, everywhere. One of their unique services is the complimentary walking food tour every Sunday that is available exclusively to their guest. Room, staff, and cleanliness are acceptable.

No room service. There's only one restaurant (Japanese) operated by a third party.

Hotel decor, rooms are showing its age and needs refurb plus cleaning/repainting exterior outside pool area. Shower door design needs to be rethought - with the bathroom door closed, there is little room for the shower door to open. Housekeeping attention to detail: only one bath and pool towel changed for clearly two guests? Glasses and cups not cleaned/changed each day.

The Dorsett is very well located in central Singapore, next to Outram Park MRT which offers access to three separate lines with easy access around Singapore. The hotel is very reasonably priced, rooms were spacious, very comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The staff were friendly and courteous, very happy to help.

The only this to point out to anyone considering a stay here is, there is no room service available because the restaurant on-site is not part of the hotel. That said, there are many options in the immediate vicinity and within east reach so this should not impact you too much.

The location is really convenient and the toilet was well designed with the tub and easy wardrobe access from both in and out of the bathroom.

I left my laptop charger in the room and called the hotel less than and hr after checking out. The person said she will check on it but did not call back. When i called back an hour later, she said they searched everywhere in the room but it wasnt there. I knew it had to be there on the table and went back down to the hotel to ask the front desk. They told me to sit and gave it to me after a short wait. My mistake was not asking the name of the person who picked up the phone but thank you Roy (housekeeping) and Jermaine for returning my laptop charger.

Great location for China Town, Sentosa & Gardens by Bay. Even has its own lift at the MRT station! Rooms were very comfortable and decent pool. Nice neighbourhood with good eating options on doorstep

Pool closing at 8 was disappointing. Also a very minor niggle: leave 2 shower towels and 2 pool towels in each room, not just 1 of each. Neither of our rooms phones worked to call for more and we asked 3 times at reception without getting any. This is very easy to solve!

Big comfortable room and bathtub (Splash Room). The bed was great to sleep on. The hotel has a pool which was great with the heat. The location was excellent, with cool bars and cafes around Chinatown and right above Outram MRT.

The hotel and room decor was a bit dated, which is only my personal aesthetics opinion. The staff were all lovely and kind people, however they weren’t as forthcoming with information about the hotel as could have been expected. For example, there was no mention of the pool and gym or details about them, the restaurant & bar facilities or timings - nothing else about the basic facilities/ provisions of the hotel. Also, when I asked for a pharmacy close-by to the hotel, I was politely advised to look around Chinatown, instead of a more specific location given. This is not a criticism against the staff who were all good people, I just think that the training provided for them could perhaps be improved. Thank you for everything else.

location is right above the MRT station Outram Park. Few minutes walk from Chinatown and lots of restaurant

breakfast is a waste of time. don’t bother. Not run by the hotel. Pool access limited at 1 H per day per room and need to be booked in advance.

Love the location! The hotel was right above the MRT Outram Park, where you get 2 lines : purple and green. A lot of cafes behind the hotel, to have breakfast. All the staffs are very friendly, since it’s hard to find mini market, they allowed us to get mineral water bottle from the hotel for free. Outram Park was only 1 station away from Harbour Front, which is near to Universal.

There is no 711 or supermarket nearby. Need to walk 700 meters from the hotel to find one. The room also very small for 3 of us. A bit different size from the photos.
