Parkview On Hagley

I'd like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional service provided by the dedicated hotel staff during my recent stay. From the warm welcome at the reception to the meticulous housekeeping, every team member demonstrated a commitment to ensuring guests' comfort and satisfaction. The attentiveness of the staff stood out, as they anticipated needs and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. The courteous and professional demeanor of the front desk staff created a positive first impression, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The housekeeping team deserves commendation for maintaining impeccable cleanliness, turning each day into a retreat. Their meticulous attention to detail did not go unnoticed, enhancing the overall sense of comfort and well-being.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, central and easy to get around the city. The free on-site parking (while a tight squeeze) is a great bonus. The room was great and exceeded my expectations with plenty of space and more facilities than we required.

The hotel car park is difficult to negotiate with several tight turns that required reversing at times to get through. The staff were almost non-existent. We arrived around 6pm for check in to find there was no one at reception. Likewise, no one to be found in the morning for check out at 9am despite the letter which was left behind the night before requesting that check in be completed at 9am the following morning.

We stayed in an Executive room on the 3rd floor. Warm, clean and inviting. The bed was very comfortable. Had a great sleep. Very roomy. There was plenty of room. Had a kitchenette. The best and most important for me was the Spa!! I love a good soak in a spa. Room had Sky. It even had Sky movies as well as Netflix and other smart tv apps. Felt spoilt for choice. There was a balcony. I love being up high and looking down. Was lovely to wake up to a view of Hagley Park. Great value for money, close to Mall and eateries. Although the Saturday night racing traffic and sirens were noisy i didnt mind to much as I live very close to a railway line.

Theres only 1 thing I could fault and that was that the bathroom floor was slippery. I was barefooted and almost fell over a few times walking in to go to the toilet.

-Spacious room (bigger than most). Could have swung a cat. - Well appointed. Enough seats for all guests, big bed, and decent enough table to sit and have a meal at. -Great location, 20m from a 24/7 convenience store, and a short stroll to Riccarton mall. -Value for money, was half the price of other places we have stayed at on this trip and the room was easily twice the size. - Would stay here again.

- Check in time was 3pm, caught us out - who does that? Staff were not accommodating to checking us in at 2pm, no empathy, snappy and rude (probably get the same request everyday). -The carpark would challenge an inexperienced driver. -The staff servicing the place are polite, but bro, they stink out the corridors with their putrid B.O! -Occasional noise from 'boy racers' as mentioned in other reviews, but not enough to keep you awake, and only just louder than the white noise from the air-conditioning unit. - TV was smaller than most places. Looks even smaller in a big room.

THE HOTEL WAS IN A GREAT LOCATION WALKING DISTANCE TO SHOPS BARS ETC & STRAIGHT ACROSS FROM HAGLEY PARK WHICH IS LOVELY TO STROLL AROUND & HAS A BEAUTIFUL BOTANICAL GARDEN. OUR ROOOM WAS A VERY SPACIOUS SUITE & ALTHOUGH BITS OF THE ROOM WERE A LITTLE TIRED LOOKING IT WAS ON THE WHOLE COMFORTABLE. HUGE SPA BATH WAS AN ADDED BONUS.

THE FACT THAT WE HAD TO KEEP ASKING FOR THE ROOM TO BE CLEANED & FOR ITEMS TO BE REPLACED LIKE TEA, COFFEE, TOWELS ETC. THEY KEPT TELLING US THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED BUT AS WE STAYED FOR 10 DAYS WE THOUGHT THEY MAY HAVE MADE A BIT MORE EFFORT. THE FRONT DESK STAFF WERE VERY APOLOGETIC 7 VERY NICE BUT THIS DID NOT STOP US HAVING TO ASK REPEATEDLY.

The location is excellent with Hagley Park/Botanical Garden across the road and the city square only a 20 minute walk away. The room was spacious, with generous natural light. Although on a busy intersection the double glazing

The outside entry /signage appeared dingy. The car park had a lot of litter. The reception area has a strong smell of a kind of cleaning agent. The double bed looked very comfortable but it sagged on the left side and one of the window blinds would not pull up evenly.

Excellent studio type hotel. It was like a home away from home as it was spacious. I like that it has a kitchennete, a living room, and the bed was very comfortable. The windows are large and the balcony has a large glass door, there is natural light and fresh air. Despite that it was in a busy street corner, it did not matter as we did not hear the noise in the street once you close the window. The bathroom jacuzzi was a big plus and since it was triangle shape, there were plenty of room in the bathroom for two people. Housekeeping also came to clean daily with supplies i.e., coffee and milk and fresh towels. The hallway elevator is easy access along with the parking. The park is right across and easy access for strolling, walking or running. Restaurants and convenient stores are also within walking distance. We like this place a lot. If I were to return to Christchurch, I would probably stay here again.

The reception area is not always manned. Staff is not around to ask for simple things i.e., taxi, early check out and stuff. (we had to leave early for our train ride to Pickton). Also, the restaurant in the hotel is closed early. We had to find another restaurant, which fortunately there are places open at 8:30pm. We loved Thai Orchid restaurant, the owner, Jules is awesome!!!

I've stayed here before, so knew what to expect. The rooms are spacious & well appointed. The staff are friendly & helpful. It's a bonus there are 2 restaurants at ground level.

The off street parking, You have to park on the upper most level, in the open, which is not ideal when it's raining and also it's a very narrow carpark design, there are lots of scrapes & busted off bollards (that are / were in really odd places) The carpark & how it's laid out / allocated is the real downfall of this place, otherwise it'd be right up there.

booked the property then read the reviews and got worried. arrived after five, office was open check in smooth. room on third floor - they had a lift - perfect - clean - tidy - view over the park - aircon on so enjoyed the cool spot. so very pleased. on the bus route from airport and town was twenty minutes walk through park.

ok it is on the ‘Avenues’ and on two nights there was loud noises from the road. they didn’t supply a dish cloth!! but supplied everything else? servicing was only changing towels - no problem but was not explained at check in.

Ideal location, out of the centre of the city but easily accessible by a regular bus service or pleasant walk through Hagley Park. The breakfast was good value with a wide selection - but having a kitchenette in the room was perfect for making your own "continental " at leisure, especially with a convenience store next door! The laundry facilities were very welcome and at a very modest cost. The reception staff were all very helpful.
