Hotel Fidder - Patrick's Whisky Bar

We arrived in Zwolle to attend a friend’s wedding. Our First time in Europe from the United States (Massachusetts). Our friend recommended Hotel Fidder Loved everything about this property and the north or hood. What a beautiful place to stay. The outdoor terrace in the shade garden was a perfect place to spend some time. Patrick’s Whiskey Bar was a bonus. The room and the hotel were exceptionally clean and well cared for. Breakfast in the dining room was incredible. We can’t say enough about the staff. Very friendly and helpful. A short walk into city where we enjoyed shopping and watching everyone on bicycles. Can’t wait to get back!

Lovely traditional hotel in a quiet residential area a short walk from the train station. Individually styled rooms with antique furniture - and exceptionally comfy bed - and modern bathroom fittings (we had a large walk-in shower) - worth the climb up the steep stairs (no lift). Very clean and spacious room. Buffet breakfast excellent - great choice of hot and cold dishes. Hotel also has a bar known for its amazing selection of whiskey - which my husband sampled each night as a nightcap treat. Special mention for the first-class staff who go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

The decorations were amazing, from the woodcarved bed to the Tiffany style lamps and the fireplace in the breakfast serving room. Everything in good taste and placed where it would bring most value. The breakfast was also very good. The city center is easily accessible by foot.

Breakfast could use some vegetables and fruits to be complete. There is no elevator, although I can understand for old Dutch buildings it is difficult to install one as they were made to have just stairs.

Beautiful historic building, gorgeously decorated. The room had all the usual amenities, it was very clean and a fan was also provided (be aware, it's an historic building, so they are not allowed to perform any type of construction work that would change the building, so no a/c). The staff is incredibly friendly and the buffet breakfast was well prepared with a lot of options. It is recommended to get a drink at the bar, if you love whiskey, as they have over 1000+ of different types and the host can recommend you the best one for your liking. The location is ideal: at only 10 mins walking from the centre.

We loved this place. It's rare to find a hotel like this these days, which has so much of its own character. The building is extremely quirky and feels very grand, even though the hotel is not that big. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms we had were large and the beds very comfortable. The hotel is situated on a pleasant side street an easy, short walk away from the centre of Zwolle. The bar drinks menu is really breathtaking and very reasonably priced for what is on offer. Its worthwhile taking a look!

There's very little to criticize for the money, to be honest. If the rooms were given a makeover, you might find yourself paying an awful lot more, but we quite liked it how it was.

Hotel is well located just outside the busy center of Zwolle, but within easy walking distance to restaurants, bars etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There isn't a lift, but that didn't bother us, and it was reasonably quiet in the evening, so we were not disturbed by other guests. Breakfast was very good with a three types of coffee and lots of different teas to choose from. Scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants with melted cheese, fruit etc. etc. We have stayed in quite a few B&B's, and this breakfast was definitely a cut above the rest.

The room was basic and in need of a bit of TLC, but was perfectly fine for a one night stay.

Decor, building , staff all excellent. Breakfast choice amazing (hot foods usually cold though). Kettle in room , led TV, robes and slippers. The fact the room cleaned daily and bed made. Food basic but tasty a tad overpriced for burger and chips.Coffee beautifully served and apple pie delish. Felt cosy and welcoming. Needs a lift but understand it's listed building. Rooms with balconies with ashtrays, keep door closed. Jacuzzi bath a godsend after walking around Zwolle all day.

Not putting anything here

The style of the hotel is what makes it such a good place to stay in. The bar was a small living room with books and games and a mini museum of whisky. Very cosy and original for a hotel. And nothing looks like a hotel. From the street, it looks like any Dutch apartment building. Very easy to feel at home. Furthermore it is very easy to walk from the hotel to the center of town. Impossible or at least very difficult to get lost.

The hotel has a charming style. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. When we stayed the weather was cold and snowy but the room was well heated. There is a whisky bar on the ground floor that also sells various bar and restaurant food, which we found handy. It is only a short walk from the train station and the city centre. We would be happy to stay here again.

It's an old building so the noise isolation isn't exceptional, though it didn't bother us.

The bathroom is small but still very efficient. The breakfast buffet is great. The room is spacious and very convenient especially temperature wise. The presence of the whiskey/bourbon bar with a very knowledgible bartender and a huge selection of whiskeys and bourbons! The art deco style of the monumental hotel.

There is nothing we didn't like about this stay.
