The Fallon Hotel Alkmaar

Hotel is a former prison and still maintains many of the features. e.g. old prison style doors. You can clearly see what were the cells by the arched roofs and door placements. Overall its a posher place than I expected for the price. Restaurant was busy with residents and locals on a Saturday night - obviously good quality and cosy. Alkmaar is quite small, and the hotel is walking distance to the centre (10-15mins) Overall I would really recommend it as a decent spacious hotel, a cut above the budget sector without being too posh. Tea Making facilities in the room! Plenty of free parking outside. Easy to get to.

Bike rental was €7.50 per day - could have been 5 or free. Room (cheapest) had no desk for working... your would need to check this if you wanted to work there.

Staying in a converted former prison was a really unique experience and a surprise when we arrived. The main cell block hallways were beautiful and very cool to photograph.

Great location in a park with a play area and a children's farm within easy walking distance. It is a 15 minute walk to the town centre. We hired bikes and that was a great way to get around. Restaurant provided tasty food and there was a good selection for breakfast too.

Glass door to shower area was noisy. This made night time 'comfort stops' tricky as the sleeping partner was disturbed. This is a tiny little point but the soap dispensers are too close to the wall to be squeezed comfortably with the right hand, so that led to some interesting contortions when washing!

Green surrounding, quiet but not far from the historic center. You can go there by feet. Nice room with great bed. The tastful modification of the former jail with several details linked to the history of the building were remarkable. Also the young woman at the front desk was really friendly and caring and we also got an upgrade to superior for free and we had no parking costs. There is also a small room where you can park your fietsen.

There were no hooks in the bathroom for the towels. Also we missed an extra small lamp in the second room for cozier light instead of using the bright ceiling light.

The location was beautiful as it was close to a cute park with animals. The staff were really helpful. The courtyard was also really pretty. Check-in was easy and efficient. It was my birthday and they printed a card for my boyfriend and gave him a balloon for me!

The windows could have been able to open a bit more. The aircon didn't work properly, so that would be nice-especially in Summer. It could have been slightly cleaner-the shower only (needed to be scrubbed a bit more).

Lovely property, a welcome present (delicious brownies), very friendly personnel, bike rental, comfortable bed. I had probably the cheapest room, but it was very spacious and comfortable. And I can imagine they have much more special rooms there.

Practically non-existing view from my room, as it was overlooking only a central area roof with cooling system or that sort of thing. As this is the low season, I was wondering that I could be given a better room/view, perhaps, without asking. Room was little bit worn off. But again, for the price I was very happy.

Everything was nice. Rooms are very clean and beds are very comfortable 👌 During our stay we had two rooms and both were ok. The staff was very friendly and polite. The restaurant had a nice breakfast and dinner also. The position of the hotel is also excellent, had a big park with animals which is convenient if you are staying with children. I would feel recommend to everyone and stayed there again.

Great boutique hotel c20mins walk from the centre of two. Lovely quirky setting as it’s a converted prison which makes it quite different. Plenty of parking if you have a car which also comes in handy. Overall great value.

Check in could have been better as they are under staffed in housekeeping which meant waisted a bit longer

unusual conversation. It was a prison until 2000, has been tastefully converted into an hotel with restaurant whilst keeping the essential feel of the original design. The staff were helpful. The location was good for all attractions within driving distance.

The menu was limited for dinner. Parking £10 a day.

A big , light room with comfortable bed. TV smart. Coffee maker in the room. Free parking behind a hotel., good breakfast . Nature around the hotel.

A liitle bit far from the city center. Old towels. Lift of out order. Strange noises from the corridor during one of the night ( haunted hotel in former jail ? 😜)
