Yakety Yak Hostel

- Extremely affordable for what you're getting - Internet worked fast - Toilet was always cleaned - Comfy beds, and they also provide free towel rental - Cheap laundry service - Their on site restaurant offers really good meals! A local homestay chef was cooking it and everything tasted divine! - The staff were all cordial and extra accommodating, extra kudos to Goutam for being extra friendly and suggesting so many things to do in Nepal.

- no curtains on the bunks - can't bring outside food, but who cares - there are not enough plugs in the common area, so I kinda needed to charge my work laptop somewhere then return to the big table to work.

Recommended for a stay in the most interesting part of Kathmandu. A special mention goes to Gautam from the hostel's Cafe - a lovely human being and a great person to spend time around. Loved being around him as we chatted and planned my time in Nepal.

The lighting in the common area could be better.

Great hostel in Thamel with very friendly staff! I stayed here for 10 days in a private room. The room was clean, modern, spacious and importantly the bathroom had a good hot water supply. The hostel is clean, spacious, and has nice common areas to meet people and relax. There is also a bar there, so you can enjoy a few drinks, and they also serve food which is good and well priced. All of the staff were also very friendly and helpful. Great value for money, thanks for a great stay!

Can get a little noisy at night due to the hostel being centrally located in Thamel, but that is not a fault of the hostel! Just get earplugs and there will be no issue - this is an essential for travels in India and Nepal.

We enjoyed our stay at Yakety Yak Hostel a lot. The location is great, very central in Thamel. It's a modern hostel with clean rooms and common areas. The staff are very nice and you can also buy food and drinks there. You should know that this is more of a quiet hostel than a social place, so maybe not the best for people who want to make new friends.

Cold water in the shower on all three days we stayed there. Helps you to prepare for the rest of your Nepal trip though ;)

Central location, great Wi-Fi, friendly staff, amazing hot showers, delicious food (especially the chilli momo) I booked for one night and ended up doing 6 in total! It’s a great hostel if you need to work online as there’s so many areas to sit and use a plug at the same time.

Nothing! It would be cool if they offered some activities to make it more social but not a problem as everyone is so friendly anyways!

It is a very nice Hostel with hot showers available all-day-long (except for the private rooms, as those are solar powered, which is normal 🙂). The vibe you get at this hostel is really cool and they offer lots of different services at a cheap price (from storage to laundry, the latter being incredibly cheap compared to what you can find outside). Me and my girlfriend went back there every time we came back to Kathmandu from the treks or other short trip within Nepal.

The no-food-from-outside policy is a bit too strict (on election day, when literally almost everything was closed, even their restaurant, they still wouldn’t allow us to get a pizza from another place and eat it at the hostel while working).

Immediately clean and friendly staff . Good water pressure in the shower. Clean bed sheets and pillows . Amazing hospitality from staff and they were ready to help everytime .They have also created a safe and secure environment for the hostel guests . Thank you Mr.Deepak and others from front office for taking good care of me . Much love to you guys .

We were staying in a private room (rather than dorm) and it was huge with high ceilings! Very clean and also comfortable. Large, clean bathroom also. There was some noise transference between the rooms zone and communal area, but nothing major, and I am a light sleeper! (Could benefit from a door to the corridor with the rooms on maybe?). The staff are very friendly and helpful. We liked the location - close to shops and good places to eat. Hostel is very well set up and run. We would stay here again :)

The location is very near to the market and has a great Chinese restaurant down there. the hostel and room are so clean. bed is basic and I belive they can bring a better mattress. the value of the hostel is too high compared to the facility available in the room.

the rate of water is so high inside the hostel. it should be normal like any other place. bathrooms are very old and need to be repaired.
