Hotel Moonlight

We stayed for five + nights at this hotel. It is one of the cleanest nicest hotels we have stayed in India or Nepal. The rooms are cleaned every day and the bottled water left daily is very convenient and helpful. Wi-Fi also works well Complimentary personal care kit in the bathroom also. Air conditioning and shower also work well and the water pressure is good. Laundry service available. As is a local guide map Breakfast includes cereals, fruit, bread, pastries, coffee, tea and national breakfast dishes also freshly made omelette of your choice. Staff in the breakfast room are very attentive and it’s well run. They have local beer on tap and a good dinner menu. Location is ideal for the markets and restaurants of Thamel and is walking distance of Durban square. Taxis are available outside the front door and the concierge will help too. Have to make a special mention for the reception staff all speaking good English, accommodating , pleasant and willing to help. Especially Namgayl, Bari khanate,Arbin and Putnam and Kristila. Hope I’ve spelt the names right!. Well done to the manager in choosing his staff wisely.

A small point, although the rooms were cleaned daily the floor was only swept which resulted in grubby feet/socks if the complimentary sliders were not worn

The room we got was nice and also the view from the balcony. The staff was great and I loved the breakfast. overall, happy with the hotel stay.

Not all rooms have the view as per pictures. The pictures on booking.com should reflect the room being booked.

The location is very good, close to the Thamel. The tourist bus stop is only a 5 mins walk. The breakfast (6:30-10:00) was amazing, a lot of different local and fresh cake, fruit, salty and sweet food. The garden and the rooftop is perfect for the breakfast with an amazing view. We can checked in earlier than the scheduled time, special thanks for that.

The recommended taxi price was double than the normal price, when we asked some help to organise a trip. The free airport shuttle is a good thing, but if you ask tip for it, its not free.

SO many things we enjoyed about this hotel. The breakfast was amazing and the staff is very friendly and kind to us. We really were surprised that our room was cleaned everyday and that we had such an amazing and special view from the room.

In our room, the WIFI was slow and kept cutting out. I had to do work while visiting the hotel and this resulted in me being a day behind my work and I had to go outside to try to finish assignments. Sometimes the internet cuts off or is just very very slow to load pages. I noticed during the evening times it is the worst and early at 5 in the morning was the only time it really worked well. As long as you come here for leisure the place is perfect.

The Moonlight was so clean. When we go to a new hotel we get a feel for how it is run by looking at the openly available toilet facilities in Reception; they were spotless. The bed was very comfy, the room quiet as requested, decor was fun and there were all the expected amenities. The dinner menu was wide ranging and the breakfast buffet comprehensive. It is a measure of confidence that the kitchen was visible through glass with those working there in hairnets. All the staff were pleasant and attentive. If you stay in Thamel you know that it is going to be busy, noisy and generally pretty grubby, stepping off the street into the Moonlight was like entering a haven of peace and tranquility.

We stayed twice, a month apart, and neither time did we remark on any shortcoming

Breakfast was really good. Staff was awesome. Best of all they helped to address my concern with diabetic medication for my 2 year old daughter by staff utilizing their own kitchen freezers etc. provided me the room with functional mini refrigerator. Overall awesome

It would have been great if smoking is not allowed indoor commonnarea of the hotel. It seems common area under every floor - people used it for smoking. Or maybe some hotel guest used it even if not allowed.

Our second stay here at the end of our 3 week holiday (we also stayed here when we first arrived in Nepal). Paid a little bit more for our second stay but we got a better / bigger room. Breakfast was great, staff were friendly and spoke good English. Great location for tourists in Kathmandu, you can get cheaper hotels but we’d stay here again if we went back to Nepal.

Hotel though was good, but owner or whoever helped us wasn't helpful, was rude. The ladies at the customer service was helpful. Please remember Customer is always right, be polite and helpful as we are guests and asset for your country. .

The Rudeness of the guy I think was a manager, he even tried to cancel our room. Imagine if you are a visitor in a country after traveling for long hours and be thrown out.

Moonlight is on a great location. The dining and bar facilities are beautifully kept and the place a cheerful, busy but relaxed vibe. This is the second time we have there and will again if we return to Kathmandu.

Nothing

We found this hotel as a good option to stay near Thamel market. We had stayed here on two occasions. When we stayed here for a night before proceeding to Lukla, we were given a small room but it was fine. On way back, we got a bigger room with Jacuzzi tub. Staff is very helpful. Hotel has a nice restaurant and bar and a beautiful open place to enjoy evenings.
