Hotel Alma Domus

Everything was excellent and the breathtaking view on the old city from our bed and terraces. The staff were very efficient and could communicate in English. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom contained lots of amenities.Daily cleaning and change of towels. We were very satisfied with the accommodations at the Hotel Alma Domus.

The breakfast would be better if there was some salami, ham and cheese for the bread. But this is a typical Italian breakfast and we had no problem

We had the most wonderful view of the cathedral from our room, in fact I doubt there's any better in the whole of Siena! Everything else was also top notch; good wifi, nice breakfast, perfectly clean comfortable room and very helpful staff. Great location, with the main attractions being around a 10 min walk away. The left luggage option was also most welcome and allows you to make the most of your stay. Did I forget to mention the view...?

In my opinion the website pictures don't do the hotel justice, with some making it look a bit dark and uninviting, when in reality it's a classy place that's been really well designed to suit the location. (It was also much easier to find than we had expected.)

The location was amazing. A beautiful view from the balcony. It was very close to the centre and not that far to walk to the train station. There are good restaurants near by and also a supermarket. Quite a good breakfast but feels like a canteen.

The building the hotel is in is quite old and I think it is a shame the inside is modern and basic. The rooms feel like they have been done out very cheaply. Cheap amenitues and toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities would be nice. I think they are missing a trick here.

Excellent location within a walking distance to the centre. Amazing view of il duomo from our balcony. Clean, air conditoned room. The reception staff helpful and friendly. One of the breakfast staff ladies looking a bit grumpy, but if you clear your table and bring her the tray, you will be rewarded by a lovely smile. Breakfast OK, mostly sweet as usual in Italy; also includes some fruit and cereal. Highly recommend to everyone who wants to enjoy Siena. On top of that, the hotel is adjacent to the Sancuary of St Cathrine, so if you wish for a little peace quiet, you find it a few steps away. All in all, Alma Domus is anexcellent value for the money you pay.

Alma Domus was conveniently located next to the Basilica of St. Catherine of Siena (aka St. Dominic) which was the main reason I came to Siena. The hotel was in a quiet location. I had a quiet room with air conditioning & a great view of the city of Siena & the Duomo Dome from my window. Breakfast was great with lots of selection: fruit, yogurt, pastries, sliced ham & cheese, etc. Alma Domus is located a 6-7 minute walk from the bus stop @ Piazza Gramsci.

I have stayed at Hotel Alma Domus 5 or 6 times over the past 20 years. The hotel is conveniently located close to Siena’s bus station, and within easy walking distance of Siena’s famous Campo. It is very clean, and offers a good breakfast in a simple dining room. This is a ‘no frills’ hotel in a former convent. The facilities are basic, but represent great value for the price. - Most rooms have spectacular panoramic views of Siena’s Duomo on the hill opposite the hotel. Some rooms have small balconies where you can sit and enjoy this amazing view.

Traveled from Lucca to Siena by train. We walked to this facility because we had back packs. Suitcases would be more of a challenge because Siena is extremely hilly. We were able to check in on time; I did note that their is luggage storage for early arrivals. The front desk staff was very helpful with information and provided a city map. Our room was a standard with two twin beds. We had an amazing view of the Duomo from our room. The bathroom was adequate, but if we had been a large man the shower would have been tight. Mind you, it was extremely hot when we arrived and the whole stay of our trip in Siena. While our room was "air conditioned" it really wasn't cool as we couldn't turn on the AC until we were in the room and it just wasn't a powerful enough unit to handle a heat wave. The second night was better I think because the room had been cooled the day prior. Also, the beds and pillows were both too hard for myself and my travel companion. Breakfast was included and started at 0730. Coffee, juices, yogurt, lots of sweets. Wonderful pizza restaurant across from the hotel, the one with the white awning open in the evening only. I do plan to stay here again when I return to Siena, just not during a heatwave if possible. From the hotel, the bus station is a three minute walk. Buses to Florence go approximately every hour. You can purchase the tx in the bus office ( underground ) across the steet from the NH Hotel.

The air conditioning in our unit was not adequate. The bed pillows and mattresses need updated. All else was good.

Reception staff were lovely - really friendly & helpful. There's a couple of lovely terraces, one with a city/cathedral view, where you can relax & take in the fabulous views. Breakfast was more than adequate. Air conditioning in the room was essential when we visited as there was a heatwave so a chilled room was much appreciated. Opening the bedroom shutters in a morning to be greeted with the cathedral view - wow, just wow!!

Nothing really. For the price, everything about this hotel was ideal; location, views, cleanliness, friendly staff, comfy beds, generous breakfast.

The location is fabulous! We booked a superior room and the view was amongst the best that Siena has to offer. Everything was really lovely. One day when it was really hot we came back and our air con had been put on for us which we though was great service. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful too.

As a vegetarian breakfast was too heavy on carbs for me, very little protein for a non meat eater.
