Grand Hotel Menaggio

Room amazing, view to die for , staff were friendly and attentive, breakfast was great with a lovely view, and great selection. Unbelievable location, concierge was lovely a truly great and wonderful experience ! I am dying to get back out there !With the sun shining and morning view with a beautiful heated pool to swim in with the splendour of lake Como at your fingertips.

Very little not to like ! Maybe some cream cheese next to the salmon would have been nice, but not an issue at all, as they did cook us food fresh, and maybe a better tv in room with working channels, but to be honest with a view like that it seems a little unimportant as we had the best view Como has to offer.

Excellent location, conveniently next to the ferry pier. frequent ferries to Bellagio. Beautiful hotel, amazing pool and lobby. Lovely breakfast! Free parking on property. Menaggio is a lovely town.

I recommend upgrading to a Lakeview room. the standard room is a little bland, but the facilities is so lovely I don’t think you will be spending much time in the room.

Location. View. Menaggio is quieter than Varenna and Belaggio which we liked.

Dinner in restaurant was disappointing for the price. Staff both on reception and in dining room could have been friendlier. A smile goes a long way!!

The hotel is perfectly situated, next to Menaggio port. We saw some other guests pointing out in their reviews that this also comes with a downside of having to hear all the arriving ferries, however, we were not bothered about this at all. We really liked the room with the lake view. It was authentic and well fashioned. The food was trully delicious, probably the only place worth having a dinner in Menaggio. Nevertheless, everything was overpriced, with every dish being priced at c. 20 eur. Staff at the bar and restaurant was friendly and professional.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel until the staff started mowing and trimming the lawn and drilling something at 7.20am on our last morning. Given that the air conditioning was not working properly in our room - living its own life, basically, turning off/on whenever it wanted - sleeping with an open window was impossible due to the noise of the lawn mower. We believe this is hardly justifiable when you pay 300eur/night. As mentioned above, the food was overpriced. Also, the pool was not very clean, with some dirt and debris at the bottom.

We went there for our honeymoon and they surprised us by upgrading our room so we had a balcony facing the lake! So beautiful. The location was amazing with quick ferry access to varenna and Bellagio. It's a quieter place to stay in than Bellagio. They have a beautiful pool facing the lake and it's a short walk away from Piazza Garibaldi. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend to others.

Very little, my wife wished that they had a hot tub but I can't say I missed it (we visited in September). The bed was nice and big but a little firm.

The location was wonderful. The staff is wonderful, especially the Bellman who took our bags from the car. He made us feel very welcome right from the moment we arrived. The front desk was also very helpful as well as all of the wait staff.

Our shower in our room was actually dangerous. The shower floor was slippery and there was no place to grab if you did slip. The soap dish was broken off (probably because someone slipped and grabbed it to brace themselves). To use the soap or shampoo you had to bend over and pick these items up from the floor of the shower. A grab bar should be installed at a minimum as well as something on the floor to prevent someone from slipping.

It really is a georgious hotel with the most beautiful location and most amazing view (Como Lake) which you can also enjoy from the pool. Regarding location, it is a 2 minute walk to the city centre of Menaggio and right beside the hotel you can find the ferry which can take you to all the other villages around the Como Lake. They also have parking in front of the hotel. Even though the hotel is a bit old fashioned, it is not worn out, they do good maintenance, everything is super clean and they offer all the facilities you need. Breakfast is good as well (except for the coffee, this is not according the Italian standard). But all in all, we really enjoyed our stay, the Como Lake is such a beautiful place, you just fall in love with it.

The staff is not unfriendly, but not customer oriented either. They all seem so unhappy which influences the level of service you receive. They also have very tight schedules regarding serving food and drinks (breakfast between 7.30 - 10.00, lunch until 14.00 and dinner from 19.00 - 21.00 and trust me, not one minute later). Drinks on the terrace, if it is closing time, they will clean everything up and turn off all the lights. Around 11 pm everything is quiet, as if it is bed time. No glasses around the pool by the way, you get plastic cups... and the coffee at breakfast is not good (espresso was drinkable).

We had a lovely relaxing stay at the Grand Hotel Menaggio - we had opted for a room with a lake view, which didn’t disappoint. In fact, we woke up early to watch the sunrise from our window and it was certainly a bucket list moment. Breakfast is served on a patio with stunning views of the lake, and it is so calm. The staff were really friendly, especially Lorenzo one of the waiters was fantastic, and always went above and beyond during our stay. The hotel weren’t able to book us a taxi to the restaurant we were going to as it was so busy in the local, so they arranged for a member of staff to drive us there and back for the price of a usual taxi - talk about above and beyond! (The restaurant was called Erre Restaurant - highly recommend, located 500m up the hill - food is fantastic and the views of Como from high above were stunning.) We spent much of time our relaxing by the pool, and jumping off the jetty into Lake Como - which was fantastic. We had evening drinks / and snacks over looking the pool / and view. Would recommend!

The rooms are a little dated, however it does add to the Italian charm of the hotel.

We LOVED our stay here and can't wait to come back. First of all, it is a beautiful hotel. We felt like we were staying in an old Italian villa. It was in a private location in town and felt very intimate. We loved that it was directly on the lake so you did not hear any car traffic and could enjoy the lovely pool, grounds, lake and mountain views...all breathtaking! The grounds and hotel are meticulously clean. The staff is exceptional and was always there to help you and anticipate your needs. Our room was older but the size was wonderful as was the lake view from the 2nd floor. Additionally, they have complimentary parking and the hotel is directly next door to the ferry stop making the location perfect for visiting Varenna and Bellagio just a short 15 min ride away. The hotel breakfast was the best we have ever had anywhere. It was a beautiful display and abundant with anything and everything you would ever want including made to order offerings. We enjoyed breakfast each day at their outside seating overlooking the lake. On the opposite side of the hotel is seating for their outside bar to enjoy an afternoon apertivo of Aperol Spritz, Prosecco and more while enjoying the magnificent lake views. We will definitely be back!
