The Waterfront House Country Home

Mary is a dote, she's very welcoming, warm and open to helping in every way. She set the tone for a very relaxing stay. The room was clean and comfortable, with all the towels and linens we needed. The calming view was also very welcome. The cooked breakfast was tasty, and although no gluten-free options were available she adjusted it to include only the gluten-free products and had no problem with my wife bringing her own food, having suggested it herself. Location was very peaceful and quiet, a short drive from the village.

Tea, coffee & snacks (cookies, biscuits, etc) are laid out in the dining room, so plan your trips for a cuppa to boil the kettle there as there are no facilities in the room. We didn't mind it too much. On the plus, kettle always full, loads of mugs, generous selection of snacks. Slow fill toilet was quite loud over several minutes, so were careful when we flushed in consideration of other guests.

The owner / host is a very nice lady. She showed us everything, Gave us recommendations for restaurants in Oughterad and regarding activities in the region. The house is located directly at the lake, with a lake view from the rooms or the front terrace. You can use the living room if you like. The breakfast is really good. You need a car to get from the Waterfront House to the village. Walking along the Main Street is no fun. It is very quiet there and great to disconnect from every days work.

The host was very nice and the breakfast was also really good. The area around the B&B was very quiet and really beautiful. On one side of the house is a lake, on the other side grazes with sheep's.

The house is not reachable without a car. If you have a rental car it's no problem with the parking. But without you cannot reach it. The wall to the other rooms were quite thin, so you could hear steps from other residents

It was a great location overlooking the lake and the host was superb. Breakfast was also good although one had to specify either an 8 am or 9 am sitting. There was a separate lounge/sitting room for guests and the bedroom was good. My SatNav did not take Irish postcodes so - if yours is similar - take the road to the golf course, and then go straight on where the road swings right and head to the lake and past the first property. The village had plenty of eating facilities and it was a good location for exploring the region although the location of the property was such than one definitely needed a car.

The only problem was the indifferent weather - would definitely return there if we revisit the area

Mary was an excellent host, and our home cooked breakfast was delicious! She offered advice on where to go and how to get there, as well as providing ideas for where to dine in the town. Our room was spacious enough, and the view was great. We were in an excellent location, a hub to easily get to Galway and also Kylemore Abbey.

Lovely owners Mary & Tom, always available if needed. Delicious home cooked breakfast. Comfortable room with a stunning view of the countryside and mountains.

Quite far from anything although if you have a car that's not a problem. No drinks facilities in the room, but are welcome to help yourself to tea & coffee in the dining room until 7am.

+ beautifully decorated house with lots of fresh flowers + lovely, attentive and helpful hostess + clean and tidy room + delicious breakfast + nice garden and beautiful lake + plenty of parking space

- location is OK if you travel by car, otherwise it's not easy to get there - long narrow winding road leading to the property - small bathroom

The host is super friendly and helped us with planning our days. We felt very welcome! The house is really clean and the breakfast was very nice.

The bathroom was a bit small. While the location was really beautiful, overlooking the lake. The drive to the accommodation was a bit small.

Our stay was excellent. The owner had with us all the details to take care of us. The first few sunny days in front of the lake were great. Next the rainy days were normal in Ireland but good.

Nothing special Maybe the narrow road (only wide for one car) to get to the house when you cross another car in the last kilometer

Very nice house...lady of the house very pleasant and helpful....room was lovely and tastefully decorated....breakfast was lovely ...quiet and peaceful countryside.

While it was a very nice place to stay it was too remote for me...reason I picked it was I took my 10 year old grandson to the aran islands for a day trip by plane from Connemara. Didnt realise it was so far from airport and so remote...would be perfect if you wanted to relax and chill for a couple days.
