The Shirley Arms Hotel

Reception staff were friendly, Breakfast was nice, we stayed for 3 nights. Staff were polite and friendly. On our final night most guests had left and we had the bar to ourselves. Had a very nice bar man who had helped get us some cutlery for our take out because as we had missed the kitchen that night.

Décor was dated and furniture was a little tired, noticed there were cobwebs in the corners of the room. They were in plain sight corners which was surprising to see.

We stayed here a couple of nights as our jumping off point for our vacation. My husband had been to Carrick M across many years ago and wanted to show me the town. Unfortunately, a lot has changed and what he wanted me to see is no longer there. The Shirley Arms was a wonderful place to stay however. The room was very comfortable; the restaurant was great; as was the food and atmosphere. All the staff (especially Claire in Reception) were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The room was a great size with a comfy bed, and lovely shower products in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly. The full Irish Breakfast the next morning was one of the better ones I've had at a hotel. Despite the hotel being on a busy main street, there's a large car park where guests can park for free.

The only thing my partner and I could fault was the water pressure in the shower but everything else was a 10/10

The location is excellent and it is kept very clean the staff are all very pleasant and make you feel welcome Claire at reception always has a smile to meet you and asks if everything is okay

The lighting in the bedroom could be better. In both the bar/lounge and restaurant they should insist that the children should not be allowed to runaround while your having your meal

mainly the staff were absolutely amazing they couldn’t do enough for you, particularly the receptionist and the girls at breakfast. The room was so spacious, bright, comfortable and extremely clean. We had a great fee nights sleep! breakfast was delicious, the waitress even made the effort to find me some almond milk when I asked if they had any.

the shower control in our bathroom was a little stiff to make the water cooler however other than that could not fault anything

Everything else, Big room, nice bathroom with a big walk in shower. Hotel is lovely, big bar, lovely restaurant, the food is just delicious! The staff are so friendly and wasn't kept waiting for anything. Girls on reception wonderful. Hotel manager a very nice man. Nice area to sit outside and eat or drink if the weather is good. Carrickmacross is a lovely town. Plenty of free parking space at the back of the hotel. Would definitely go back to the Shirley Arms, myself and my husband really enjoyed our stay.

Only gripe I'd have is the bed wasn't massive, comfortable and I did get a good night's sleep, but I just love a big bed.

Amazing friendly helpful staff. They made you feel like royalty from the minute you arrived. Covid regulations managed in a caring respectful manner and did not feel oppressive at all. Lovely food in the restaurant with a very short wait time. We didn't have starters as we weren't that hungry, but food arrived shortly after ordering. Lovely comfortable modern hotel, the design of which did not clash with the original early 19th century elevation. Rooms were very spacious with disposable tea/coffee facilities due to Covid regulations. Full size ironing board and iron provided.. Altogether a most enjoyable visit, and good choice of accommodation for our first stay in a hotel since lockdown. Would totally recommend this hotel.

Reception/reservations staff were so helpful 2 days before our stay when I had to make a change to my booking as I had more people coming with me. They couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The rooms we ended up in were absolutely fab. Lovely hotel, lovely staff, thank you so much!

The staff were excellent, as a female eating alone, they made me feel very comfortable. The food was delicious and the staffs recommendations were excellent and correct.

There was nothing to dislike, I was made feel comfortable and safe. Except maybe a slightly better smoking area.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was so clean, bright and most of all-comfortable. The reception staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was so nice, although there was no option to self serve for the likes of water/orange juice/tea or pastries etc and only one member of staff on who seemed busy.

Nothing I didn't like. Thank You for a lovely stay.
