Grand Mercure Medan Angkasa

This hotel was my Grandfather residence during the war. It is historical for my family. Room is big, aircond worked very well, air system in the room is well kept. Only hot shower wasn't that hot (understandable as it has to be an old boiler system)

Hot shower, though the water pressure is good but it isn't that hot.

We stayed in the hotel for a week. The staffs are wonderful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was fabulous. Salute to Mr. Hotman, Mr. Ari and one of the manager (I forgot his name)... and all the staff that we encountered. My son and I really enjoyed our staying there. We do not know when we will return to Medan again but we will definitely stay in Grand Mercure when we do.

The separation between the smoking and non-smoking should be more clear. We understand that the hotel cannot tell people to stop smoking even in the restaurant, but at least clear accommodation for those who cannot stand the smoke should be provided.

Ibnu, the supervisor at breakfast time was very friendly and chatty. He has good interpersonal skills and conduct his mannerism in a very professional way. Everyone is actually really good.

Specifically mentioned we wanted NON-SMOKING ROOM. Reception was offering a room that can be smoking or non-smoking. Further, saying it was only a ‘request’ that can only be honoured upon check in. Then, what’s the point of having the specific box to indicate preference. Loosing the room key cost Rp50k, we got charged. Then found out that communication with breakfast attendants and receptionist were lacking. They returned our key to the receptionist. Appreciate the call for check out reminder at 12o’clock. Again, our agreement that our check out time was at 1pm was not in the system. I found that there should be a better communication among employees to avoid any embarrassment of appeared to be unprofessional conduct.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in two different rooms on separate occasions. Both rooms were very clean. The room on the 10th floor had a newer more modern furnishings whereas the the room on the 8th floor was a more classic. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast is incredible. Big variety of Western and Asian option, sweet and savory. We couldn't believe our eyes how much was on offer and it was all delicious. The Hotel offers very good value for money. We were very happy and can recommend staying here!

I like that I got the huge non smoking room as requested and it was on high floor. Perfect location cos it is near to everywhere and nice food. The staff can speak English well.

the room was not ready when I arrived at 4.30 while my check in supposed to be at 2pm. another uncomfortable things are the pool, it is written on the door that the pool is open from 7am to 7pm but in reality you only can use the pool at 10am. So feel like I don’t use the pool to the max. The TV is not working when I want to use it and it needs more than 1 hour to fix which is very annoying. When it’s working it needs your own account so ☹️ and the next day when I want to use youtube, the connection is not working.

Good start of our vacation. The rooms are big and super clean. The staff is so friendly and helpfull. Also the breakfast and dinner is so nice. We recommend you to take the Lontong Medan for breakfast, a great local dish. A special thanks to Hotlan and Debby for the great hospitality!

We have nothing to complain about our stay in Grand Mercure. Definitely would recommend everyone to stay in this hotel.

The followup by staff ( Mr Hotlan and other hospitality managers) to some problem i shared on first day, was extra ordinary. He made sure to meet me and my family twice every day at bfast or evening . Kept on checking for any requirment. Extreme profressional and gem of person. Reason to visit again

The room service food prep time is quite long. 1 to 1.5 hrs for order prep and come to room.. Sometimes like bring milk glass took 45 min. Can be improved

My son and I love almost everything in this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. The friendly and courteous staffs made our stay so memorable. Thanks to Pak Rio, Pak Hotlan and Pak Ari. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. We would definitely return to this hotel when we visit the country in the future. The only suggestion we would make is to clearly assign the smoking and non-smoking area during breakfast time/cafe.

Nice room, clean, good value. The pool is good too, a dip in it sets you up nicely for breakfast!

The gym equipment has seen better days. Not well maintained. Water cooler had no water or cups. No towels and nor napkins to wipe down the equipment after use. Still, I managed a good session but it could be so much better. It's very off-putting ro see grubby fitness equipment.

Good location. Bed is very comfortable.

I booked a premium twin because it looks newer than other rooms, but it was not that new. Small towels were not provided and needed to ask for it. We found a small cockroach in the food we ate at the restaurant, they just changed to a new one and gave a free fruit platter. No sincere apologies were given from the staff and they charged the food
