Porta Hotel Antigua

This is a very lovely hotel. Our rooms (we had 2 as a family of 4) were so comfortable, very clean and nicely decorated. There is filtered water in the rooms so great not to be buying plastic bottles of water and saving on all the plastic waste. The rooms were off a pretty courtyard with a seating area which was a lovely place to sit. The pool area is really nice, though we were so busy exploring Antigua we didn’t spend very much time there. The dining/reception/bar area is lovely - lots of fantastic artworks and decorative items. We enjoyed the New Year’s Eve dinner and festivities at the hotel. There was a huge variety of food and the whole event was well planned and decorated. Also there was a very thoughtful little bag of treats on our beds that night. The service of all the staff was very professional and friendly. We had a bit of communication with the hotel staff prior to our visit and we were very impressed by the friendly interactions we had. The hotel arranged a transfer for us back to Guatemala City and the driver was excellent and the van very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Porta Hotel Antigua and highly recommend it.

Staff were very accommodating and helpful and attentive. Breakfast buffet was decent (loved all the fruit). Beef carpaccio was amazing. Macaws were fun to have around. Fireplace was great at night (not all rooms have and they don't make a very big fire, I'm guessing they'd bring more wood if needed). Only a few blocks away from central park. Pool is heated. Spa on site and treatment was awesome. Rooms are well lit and happy (unlike a lot of hotels I've seen around antigua).

Little noisy from music from event at hotel but staff offered to move rooms, which was appreciated! Street traffic and next door tv couldn't be helped. Would have like a copy of charges when I left, they said theyd email but still haven't received so now need to contact the hotel.

The beds were exceedingly comfortable, the property is very beautiful and the staff were wonderful. The landscaping and design are natural to the surroundings and peaceful.

Nothing. Although it was not an issue for us, some travelers may not like that the hotel has multiple buildings, some across the street and some down the street. If that is a concern, inquire as to where your room is located or check the hotel website for room descriptions.

The hotel overall is fantastic. Delicious breakfast/restaurant overall, and the location is fantastic. The garden and pool area make for a very beautiful setting over meals. The service of the staff in general was also excellent.

I suggest offering larger water filters in the room. Also, in our room late at night I could still hear some of the music from a party that was being hosted in a more distant part of the hotel premises.

Beautiful hotel, excellent staff (helpful and nice). The room was comfortable, food delicious and restaurant staff at breakfast are particularly kind.

I was given a room in the annex - though it was comfortable, my last day in the morning I was surprised to see there was an event that began at 8am with very loud music with no regard for the guests who were staying there.

The entire property was amazing and luxurious. Very quite and safe. We were overly satisfied with the experience. PS. check out the spa!

The swimming pool in the thumbnail photo is closed for renovation with no timetable of completion and no warning that it would be closed. I was extremely disappointed, as this pool was 90% of the reason I booked this hotel over other comparable hotels in Antigua.

ROOM WAS VERY GOOD EXCEPT WE COULD NOT TURN THE HEAT UP. STAFF WAS WONDERFUL IN ALL DEPARTMENTS. I HAD AN INJURY OFF PROPERTY BUT THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND INTERESTEDL

I HATE THE RAIN TYPE SHOWER. THERE SHOULD BE A SECOND CHOICE NOZZLE. THIS WOULD POSSIBLY KEEP ME FROM BOOKING AGAIN. THIS WAS MY THIRD STAY.

Location was unbeatable. The porperty is huge. Excellent dinner and breakfast options.

I requested a single be room 4 months before my stay and at check in they told me that there were none available. The room was spacious but with no views and beside the main road which was kind of difficult to get some sleep due to car, bikes and tuk tuks.

Beds were incredible. Slept amazing here. Bathroom squeaky clean and large. Pool large and usually not too busy (service at the pool as well) with gorgeous views on clear days of volcano(s).

Very pricey (in comparison to other really nice hotels Ive been to all over the world). Wouldn't stay here again for this reason only.

We were there for a wedding in Antigua and stayed at the Porta. Our six day stay was terrific! What a pleasant staff you have. We had a very large group of about 20 people stay there and everyone was very pleased with their stay. My wife said to give a shout out to Valarina who did her nails. Food was excellent
