Escale Oceania Orléans

A good location within walking distance of the centre of Orleans. Did the job for a stopover on our way to southern France. Furnishings are basic but everything was clean and functional. Check in staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is behind the hotel accessed through an arch in the middle of the building. This stumped us for a while and we drove around for about 10 minutes before we worked out how to get in!

It would be good if the hotel provided information about how to access the parking. It seems obvious once you know but you have to be going the right way along the riverfront road and if you miss it going the other way it is quite difficult to get back! The breakfast was ok but nothing special. A few things had run out by the time we came downstairs and that was at 8am!

The hotel is in a picturesque location across from the river and its walking/cycling path in Orleans. There is ample parking (no mean feat in central Orleans) that one accesses by driving carefully through an archway through the hotel. The parking area is bounded by an impressive stone wall of similar height to the hotel on the hillside. The staff were friendly and efficient, the breakfast generous, and the room was comfortable.

One of us was not wild about the eiderdown duvet blanket, finding it very warm...but that is standard in Western Europe and not the fault of the hotel.

The hotel is easy to find and access to the parking is refreshingly simple; through the arch, no barriers, ramps or parlophone and plenty of space! Check-in was fast and friendly and we were soon in our room which overlooked the Loire. The room was not large but was clean and well furnished to meet our needs on an overnight stop. A 15/20-minute walk alongside the river leads to the old town with its shops, bars and restaurants. The self service breakfast bar was well stocked and the atmosphere relaxed. All in all this establishment represents very good value for money.

The two staff at reception were extraordinarily thoughtful. They took the trouble to find the most suitable room. They did not hesitate to keep our perishable medications in the hotel's refrigerator. They were well-informed about all kinds of things and spoke many languages. The room was comfortable, the shower excellent. Breakfast buffet was generous and varied, and of a high quality.

The bedlinen (couette) was very heavy. In bed, we were much too hot (so to speak). The staff explained that the air conditioning throughout the hotel was broken. We had to open the windows, but our room (we had asked for a view of the Loire) was then strongly affected by traffic noise and street lighting.

The hotel was nicely positioned, around a 15 - 20 minute walk to the cathedral, mostly along the river. The room was simple but comfortable with good shower room and separate toilet. Super-helpful staff - the lady on reception gave us a great tip for a local restaurant which was fantastic. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty with decent coffee. Free parking in the safe courtyard was a plus. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent shower, very comfortable bed, quiet. Excellent parking which was essential for our stay. Enjoyed the lovely view over the river. Only 10 minute walk to city centre along the pleasant river walkway.

Would have taken the breakfast but it was a bit pricey compared to the many attractive cafes in town. The bar tariff was very reasonable but I did not find it until the day we left. Put one in each room.

Staff super friendly, extremely clean, breakfast although €16 / person was excellent! Lots of choice high quality food, and scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon too so full cooked as well! Free parking too! Close to city centre.

Cost for pets to stay too high, €20/animal depending on size , we have 2 cocker spaniels and we were charged €15 each so €30 on top of the bill just for the g o stay is a huge price when ACE hotels charge €6…

Room was very clean, had space for al our luggage and our dog to have ample room to sleep on the floor. The room had a super king bed that was extremely comfortable. It was very hot when we traveled and thanks to the aircon we could all have a good night sleep. Staff were very welcoming to us and the dog, and very attentive throughout. Even though dogs are not allowed in the breakfast room we were informed we could eat at the bar (which is just outside), this made it easier as the dog wasn't in the way of other people. We were asked if they could bring anything for the dog, but we had food for them (so I can't say what was available). Our breakfast was fantastic, lots of different options in the buffet. The hotel is a short walking distance (10-15mins) via the riverside promenade to the centre of Orleans. This was perfect for us and we walked the dog up and down the riverside for her exercise - she loved it! There is a separate cycle lane to pedestrians and there are benches and green areas. We had dinner al fresco and walked back for a good night rest.

We were charted extra €20 for bringing our dog with us. It is not a negative as they had told me beforehand when I mentioned we were traveling with our dog, but it is worth knowing to factor in (other places don't charge extra).

A large comfortable room with two equally large and comfortable beds. A lift which saved us struggling up two or three flights of stairs. We were also very grateful to be able to book a room at short notice when we were badly let down by a Hotel nearby that we discovered when we arrived that it had closed down.

As two OAP's we weren't up to walking too far and with the 'Old Town' about a Km away, we planned to take the car for our evening meal but was told that we might not have a parking space when we return. It would be nice, having booked in, to have a designated space to return to.

The possibility to park at the inner yard was really appreciated. Rooms were quiet, with very comfortable beds. Nice location along the Loire and a bit outside the busiest part of the city center.

Breakfast was good but often in short supply on such basic things like eggs, plates and bowls. The breakfast area seems a bit under-dimensioned for a fully booked hotel. There was no safety deposit box in the room.
