Ambassadeur Hotel - Cherbourg Port de Plaisance

Staff were really welcoming and helpful, and answered all my questions and gave some helpful advice. The room was pretty quiet for a fully booked hotel, the bed was comfortable and the room had everything I needed. It was very well located for the train station, (only a 10min walk away and easy to find). Outside was quiet and you couldnt hear traffic. All in all a comfy and reasonably priced stay.

The room did not look over a courtyard, but it was Monday and the road was quiet so it wasnt a problem.The bathroom was slightly strangely set up (the shower and sink is open to the main room, and the toilet was in a separate room). It wasn't an issue, it was just a bit unusual.

Very good staff. Organised a taxi for us to the ferry port where normally the taxi drivers would not go because the fare is not big enough. Also a choice of four or five good restaurants right beside it. The room is small but comfortable. The breakfast is continental but if you want you can make your own scrambled eggs and pancakes. Checkout is at 11:30 but they held our cases for us in a secure area until 3 o'clock.

Fantastic location, great staff, rooms super clean and modern…

The fact that I spent 20 minutes looking on every document, sign, leaflet…for the Wifi instructions, only to find out that there is an open network…which did not seem to work: it led me to a screen asking for login name and password, which i didn’t have, then a sentence with 2 misspellings telling me that if i don’t have credentials, to click on the button below. There was no button below! Gave up. However apart from that, all the rest is FABULOUS!

I have stayed here previously so knew it was a quality hotel. I was in Cherbourg to catch a ferry but due to weather conditions it was brought forward a day and although I'd booked for the following day when I arrived I explaind my situation and it was no problem to bring the booking forward. The location is very convenient for the ferry terminal, there is a large car park behind the hotel and its in a central location near the port with many options for dining and shopping. The room was perfect for one person, the bed clean and comfy, the bathroom was spotless, the towels clean and fresh and plenty of complimentary toiletries. The wifi was good and the room temterature very warm for a winters night. Check in and out was very quick, the staff friendly and polite. I would stay again without hesitation. 5 Stars. A visit to Batterie Roule and Cite de la Mer are recommended and not too far to walk.

I have no negatives at all, the staff were happy to bring my booking forward a day and no extra cost. The hotel is very good value for money considering it's central location and everything you need is withing walking distace.

We were very pleased with this hotel and the customer service received, particularly by Caroline at the Reception who went and extra mile to find us a table in the nearby restaurant before its opening time :). Thank you! The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was great with lots of choice and fresh ingredients. If in Cherbourg, we would not hesitate to stay at the Ambassadeur again.

Location is superb & buffet breakfast is excellent & delicious with a beautiful harbour view. Staff really friendly & very helpful with local knowledge & advice. Toiletries in bathroom were lovely! Nice to have fridge in room, kept some drinks cool in the room.

The booking confirmed complimentary tea, coffee in room throughout your stay, however, this was not refreshed & we had to ask on several occasions for more tea & milk.

I was in a small room with double bed and the courtyard view perfect for a quiet night stay and indeed it was quite. Front Rooms are much better view of Marina and City but traffic is busy especially in the morning so it might be a little bit noisy if you want to sleep well. Buffet Breakfast full of varieties, small cocker and pan to prepare scrambled eggs yourself was an advantage.

The location is excellent. Plenty of restaurants and bars just a stroll away. The hotel is really nicely decorated throughout. Comfortable bed and good shower. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and good. Modern lift.

Because of its central location, there's quite a bit of noise from traffic and late night revelers. If you close the windows the noise is reduced to a comfortable level but in this hot weather, it's too hot in the room with closed windows.

We went with a group of friends, and the Ambassadeur suited our needs perfectly. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful, coffee excellent.

I would have liked to see some more sugar free options of cereals and muesli or additional nuts and seeds to compensate.
