The room was in the second building (behind the main building). We were on the first floor and the room was nice size. The location of the hotel was great. It was about 150 yards from excursion pickup point. It has a restaurant and the food was good. I enjoyed the breakfast ($14E/day) each morning (sausage, eggs, bacon, cereal, ham, salami, and fresh bread). Very convenient to walk anywhere you wanted to in the town. Staff was very nice and responsive.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the train station. We walked it on an unusually hot day and it was not pleasant. Nothing hotel could do about that.

Great location, restaurant on the property, staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived early and our room wasn’t ready so we left our suitcases there and explored the town. We returned at checkin time and our suitcases were in our room on the 3rd floor. This is an old building and there isn’t an elevator so we appreciated them taking our suitcases up. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was great, never walked away hungry. It was also reasonably priced. Thank you once again we shall return again

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Reine Mathilde in Bayeux, and I must say it was a delightful experience in many ways. From its excellent location to the attentive service, this hotel surpassed my expectations. First and foremost, the hotel's central location was a definite highlight. Situated in the heart of Bayeux, close to the town hall and the magnificent cathedral, it offered convenient access to the town's main attractions. Being able to explore the charming streets of Bayeux with ease was a true delight. The service provided by the staff was exemplary. Upon our early arrival, the hotel graciously allowed us to leave our luggage in a secured room, which was greatly appreciated. During check-in, they had even taken the initiative to move our luggage directly to our room once it was ready, showcasing their attentiveness and dedication to guest satisfaction. Despite the room being on the smaller side and lacking air conditioning, which would have been beneficial during the warm summer days, it still managed to provide a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The window offering a view of the back of the cathedral added a touch of beauty to the room. The bathroom, complete with a shower, was clean and well-maintained, further enhancing the overall comfort of our stay. One notable amenity was the presence of a coffee machine with Lavazza capsules. This thoughtful addition allowed us to enjoy a quality cup of coffee at our convenience, adding a touch of luxury to our mornings. The breakfast, although not included in the room rate, was well worth the additional cost. It featured a delightful selection of local products, including delicious butter, yogurt, and jams. The choice of bread and pastries was also impressive, ensuring a satisfying start to the day. Considering the overall experience, the price of our stay was more than justified.

While my stay at Hotel Reine Mathilde was overwhelmingly positive, there were a few minor drawbacks worth mentioning. The room's size was on the smaller side, which might not be ideal for guests who prefer more spacious accommodations. Additionally, the absence of air conditioning could be inconvenient during particularly warm summer days, as it may affect the room's comfort level. However, despite these minor shortcomings, the overall experience at Hotel Reine Mathilde was highly enjoyable and left a lasting impression. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a charming and comfortable stay in the beautiful town of Bayeux.

Staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating--they called us while enroute and kept the restaurant open late so that we could have supper when we arrived. Our rooms were quirky but comfy, with a modern bathroom, good lighting, and an awesome Lavazza coffeemaker--they even supplied cream in little UHT containers. I had a view of the cathedral from the skylight of my room. I loved that both sides of the bed had good reading lights. The restaurant was decent, with a typical breakfast buffet and a nice outdoor patio. Hotel Reine Mathilde is very conveniently located to visit the Tapestry Museum and the historic district of Bayeux.

Our rooms were up quite a few stairs with no lift, which might be challenging for elderly travelers, and required several trips to get all of our bags into our rooms. Also, the halls were a little dowdy and had motion activated lighting that cut off a bit too quickly at times. But overall we loved the place and would recommend it.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring the city. It is within walking distance to restaurants and local attractions. The room was small and clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room overlooked the main street and we happened to be there on the National Music Festival Day. Some noise came into the room but did not keep us from sleeping. The staff was nice and helpful. We could store our luggage on our departure day so we could do a half-day morning tour. Parking is available nearby. Breakfast was good but had a limited selection. I would stay here again.

the staff was amazing. everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. Robyn in the restaurant was especially kind during dinner and he also assisted us with changing our travel plans (due to cancelations). The staff at the front desk were also wonderful and kind (apologies as I did not get names of those we encountered) and we were very pleased with our stay. We had just about every meal in the hotel restaurant due to a lot of other options being closed while we visited - but we were not disappointed - breakfast and dinners were delish and the staff was great.

rooms in the main building were small.

This was one of the very nicest places to stay. The rooms were so thoughtfully decorated and very clean. The bed was great. The young man who helped us tried his best to accommodate us. The breakfast was huge and delicious. Most hotels look good in a picture but this one was better than any photo. Below the hotel was a bar that had seating outside. The atmosphere was so welcoming. Just a beautiful setting. With parking just across the street.

The only problem we had was the first night our wifi was not strong enough but we were moved to a room over the main office and that did the trick.

The room was on the smallish side, especially the bathroom shower which was small and especially challenging for a tall person. Lack of a shower curtain made it difficult to contain the water to the shower area. For the price the continental breakfast was exceptional as well as their lunch and dinner menus. The hotels is strategically located a couple of blocks to both the famous tapestry in Bayeaux as well as the location where the majority of WWII tour companies started and ended their tours.

The lack of private parking was the hotel’s biggest drawback.

The hotel is beautiful, the food for breakfast was a full spread and yummy, and dinner was delicious with many unique and tasty options. The staff for the hotel/restaurant are courteous, kind, and willing to go the extra mile. We arrived exhausted after midnight from a long drive, and a lady staff was there to greet us and was wonderful. The grounds and location are absolutely beautiful, too! Great price for a comfortable stay.

My only suggestion is that the shampoo/conditioner be replaced with something better. Also, the towels are super old and thin.

great location, spacious room (#21) in the Annex and having a restaurant on site was a plus

each time we ate at the restaurant the food came out Luke warm. also, we spent 14 euros per person for breakfast and when we arrived at 0900h, the scrambled eggs were gone (and never replenished) and 6 pieces of bacon left! you have to let them know ahead of time if you are going to have breakfast. seems like they only cooked enough for the number of people coming and those that got there first at most of the food!!! nice croissant s though!
