Logis Hôtel Marguerite d'Anjou

Our room was in the eaves at the top of the building, with great views towards the castle and was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was 11 euros and consisted of coffee, juice, bread/pastries and preserves, fruit (whole and in salad), yogurt and cereals. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English (even though we tried French). The good news was that while we were there, large car parks were free because of building works around the city.

The bad news was that the nearest big car park was 3/4 of a mile away. The weather was warm and there was no air conditioning on the room, just a desk fan. The first night we left the windows open, but there was a lot of noise from the street below (including a refuse lorry at about 6am). The second night we had the windows shut and used the fan, which was OK, but wouldn’t have been adequate in the peak of summer.

The staff is beyond friendly. The room was clean, very pleasant, with an excellent bathroom. It's immediately across from the Chateau, which is a lovely and important attraction in Angers.

No air conditioning. To be fair, many hotels in France don't have air conditioning, and I should have checked on that before I booked. On the other hand, the hotel provided an excellent fan. The room was so small that the the floor-to-ceiling window couldn't be opened without moving the bed. That wasn't a problem for me, but is worth calling out. All that said, it's very pleasant to have the windows open and outside air flowing freely through the room.

The lady on the front desk was so nice! She spoke wonderful English and just had a very friendly and helpful way about her. The bed was comfortable and the space was nice. We enjoyed the lovely views over the castle and for the price it was good value. Also just a short walk into town - I would definitely recommend staying.

I suppose only that we had to drive about for parking but once we found somewhere it was very easy walk down.

Location was excellent - very central, right in the heart of the old town, overlooking the castle (room had a view of the castle). Room was comfortable enough for one night - nothing fancy but fine. Basic furniture, two twin beds, clean bathroom and shower. Breakfast the following morning was standard French formule - selection of yoghurts and juice, croissant, bread, coffee.

The decor is perhaps slightly tired and soulless - but it's been well maintained as has the building as a whole.

The view from our window could not have been better . We looked straight out onto the towers of the chateau. We were in easy walking distance of the centre of this beautiful, interesting city. The green landscaping was superb and the cleanliness of the streets was one of the best we have experienced in Europe. The staff at this hotel were excellent, even sourcing a chiropractor for my husbands painful back. The 10 euro continental breakfast was well worth it. Excellent level of cleanliness throughout the building. Thanks Christophe and the rest of your team.

The hotel was located on a busy junction and was quiet for only a few hours in the middle of the night. As there was no air conditioning we slept with open windows. That was ok for my husband but not for me.

I had a very warm welcome (I was even offered a free coffee when I arrived) and all the staff throughout my stay were incredibly helpful. The hotel is in a brilliant location, right across the road from the chateau, and it was easy to walk everywhere. The room was larger and more comfortable than expected - certainly a refreshing change after a poky room in Paris - and the breakfast was great too (proper coffees!). Just a really good experience that exceeded expectations.

The hosts were so welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Our room had a lovely view of the castle. Bedlinen and towels were changed every day. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection to choose from in a very serene atmosphere. The hotel is in a very good location close to the city center. Looking forward to staying there again.

Air conditioning would be good but we did have a fan supplied which helped.

Perfect for a few days in historic Angers, room overlooked the castle, excellent breakfast (great coffee) centrally situated to explore the old town and perfect hosts who couldn't have been more friendly and professional.

Everything was perfect, no complaints. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout and the staff charming. Plenty of little restaurants in the area but get there early or pre-book!

Can't beat the location: a 10-minute walk away from the train station, in the heart of town, facing the mighty Château d'Angers. Staff couldn't be more helpful and was always there to answer questions or accommodate requests. Enjoyed my "Cozy Single Room," freshly updated with taste, with plenty of storage in the room and the bathroom.

I can't think of anything I didn't like.

Very convenient for public transport and exploring the city. Although it’s opposite the castle it’s quiet. The cafe below is very comfortable with a conservatory and a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a bagagerie to take care of your luggage before and after check in times.
