Hampton By Hilton San Jose Airport Costa Rica

We stay at the Hampton when traveling in and out of SJO with our pets because they are pet friendly. The beds are good, nice linens and mattress toppers (which is a big bonus in CR), the breakfast in the morning is good and the dinner is good but a little on the expensive side. The hotel offers complementary toiletries for anything forgotten and free shuttle to and from the airport with 24 hour service which is huge since we normally take the 1:30am flight out of SJO. The shuttle drivers are great and always help us with our bags, totes and animal carriers. This is our go-to hotel when traveling with animals.

The hotel is very comfortable and simply but tastefully decorated. The large breakfast buffet had lots of options and different choices each day, plus waffles which everyone loves. I didn't use the airport shuttle but there are some rental car places directly in front of the hotel which would be very convenient for returning a car to and then using the free shuttle which runs 24 hours.

There were some single-use plastics which was disappointing. The location doesn't have good dining nearby and the in house restaurant is only open for dinner and has a limited and kind of random menu.

The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes drive from the airport. It has its own shuttle bus which cruises every 15 min. Rooms are comfortable with large beds, and clean and spacious bathroom. The staff at the front desk is polite and professional. The breakfast is served at the restaurant and it is a costarican variation of the typical continental breakfast which is absolutely satisfying. We used the hotel for recovery after a long-haul flight from Europe and getting stuff together before the trip across Costa Rica. For that purpose the hotel is ideal.

The shuttle was excellent. I need to be close to airport for odd travel times. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was the best and most diverse I’ve ever had at a hotel in Costa Rica. They even had fresh juice drinks I had never heard of and I have been coming to Costa Rica since 1968 with OTS. Really excellent

One reason in the past was I don’t like the assumption that because I have white skin I am a tourist and only speak English, but the staff was quick to revert to Spanish, so that has improved . I wish the price wasn’t twice as much as I pay at other more “Tico” hotels.

Breakfast was nice and very adequate. Some places offer a slightly wider selection/ higher quality but it did meet our needs. The hotel is very convenient for the airport and the shuttle was great. The room was very spacious and well appointed with nice decor. The blackout curtain worked very well!

For room service we ordered 2 cocktails with dinner and the quality was quite poor - margaritas made without fresh lime juice! But this is a very minor thing!

The room, the staff, the location, it was all good.

I waited for 40 minutes for the airport shuttle before I asked someone to call the Hampton(my phone was not working). I was told that the shuttle would come every 15 minutes. I saw all the other hotel airport shuttle continue to come except our shuttle. 10 minutes after calling, the shuttle arrived. That was my only issue. The airport shuttle was reliable to get us back to the airport on time.

The front desk receptionist, Martin, took the time to look up my Hilton Honors # which was under an old email address. I filled out a card saying I was impressed with his service.

The dining room was very busy, so it was easy for a solo traveler to be overlooked when thete were large parties. I waited a bit and decided to take another drink and dessert up to my room. Not a big deal, the food was good (had the pasta) and the margueritas were excellent.

I usually stay at Hampton when we are flying out the next day. Breakfast buffet is very good, waffles too. Rooms are very comfortable and the shower is great! The free shuttle to the airport was like having a private limosine!

I heard a low beeping, like a fire detector battery, not loud enough to disrupt sleep. It was not coming from our room. In the morning a staff person came up and the noise was coming from the room next door. I didn't think to call...and my husband couldn"t hear it!

Very close to the airport and car rentals and COVID 19 testing center (we live in USA so had to have a test to come home). Shuttle was able to take us to the airport, car rental and testing center. So convenient!! There are 2 restaurants very easy walking distance across the road from the hotel. as well as the restaurant hotel. We stayed our first night upon arrival to Costa Rica, picked up our car the next morning, traveled through the country for 2 weeks and then stayed again at this hotel our last 3 days. Also loved having laundry (we were able to do our own). Breakfast was good and we ate dinner one night at the hotel which was good as well. Overall hotel very clean and staff were all amazing. Will definitely be using this hotel again in the future.

If you stay here you must realize you are literally across the road from the airport so the sound of the airplanes is very loud. It didn't bother us but just something to note. The rooms did muffle the sound somewhat which was good. But there wasn't anything that we didn't like.

A good hotel for a stopover either at the beginning or end of a trip. 5 mins shuttle from the airport (shuttles are around every 10 mins). We stayed in a room with 2 large double beds which was great for 2 adults and 2 young kids. The room was modern and very clean. Comfy beds and ideal after a long trip from the UK arriving in the evening. The breakfast was buffet and good (although they didn’t seem to check who had booked the B&B rate!). If you’re sensitive to noise it might be worth paying extra for top floor room. There was some noise in the evening from above us but it didn’t last long and we were also in bed at 7pm so probably unfair to be too critical!
